    I dated a chick in college and she had a thing for BLACK ROSES! It broke my heart to destroy a hundred bucks worth of long stems just to have the shop spray paint them with black paint. I have to say, when I saw them in a vase, they were incredible! Then 2days later and they were pointing at the ground. :-/

    Thanks for this video, i received a small one and it turned like this, i checked the roots and theyre dark dark brown and breaking off. Ill try to save it right now. It may be dead already, i wish i saw this before, because i kept it in a bright area in my place but it wasnt full sun :/ So you say in the winter it can stay outside, but i live in northern canada where it can go to -35celcius, heavy snow. I want to buy another one if i cant save this one; Should i keep it inside in the winter under growing lamps?

  • @lifeofbonsai
    @lifeofbonsai12 күн бұрын

    @@AlexLavoie-z8q I am so sorry this happened , I know how sad it can be , bit don't give up that is how we learn, I have lost many trees unfortunately , but yes you want to keep the tree outside all year round, if it gets too cold protect it by putting it in an un heater garage or room when temps are too low, you can also place it like in a cooler filled with leafs or something like that , the goal is to protect it from cold winds, in summer if is too hot put it under filtered sunlight

  • @PorshPorsh255

    What about in the southern heat?! I put mine outdoors and it started browning a lot. I water daily when outside because it’s extremely hot, 100°+ I don’t want to kill it and there’s still a lot of green but….

  • @lifeofbonsai
    @lifeofbonsai12 күн бұрын

    The thing is that if it wasn't used to being outside in direct sunlight it will stress too much. Needs to slowly be introduced to sunlight , i would put it outside on a shaded area with jst morning sun. Water when needed only

  • @lifeofbonsai
    @lifeofbonsai13 күн бұрын

    Hi it should . I would scratch the bark and see if there is still green. If it is it will make it. Light changes and temperature made the tree drop its leaves. Bring it outside not under direct sunlight though and it will recover slowly . Once you see new growth put it slowly in the sun or were you had it before

    You really shouldn't be so arrogant as to think that you know better than hundreds of years of Japanese professional bonsai artists. Plants will grow in almost anything, but for true bonsai pumice akadama, and lava rock are the best.

  • @lifeofbonsai
    @lifeofbonsai14 күн бұрын

    I hope you did watch my video completely , i did mention towards the end, if you have a tree going into refinement , into a bonsai pot, if you have a true tree that is ready to become a true bonsai then APL will be the best option , I mentioned that for a pre bonsai there is no need for APL , there is no point on having a tree that is way under developed in APL of course if you have the money and it will be good but not everyone has the money to buy apl specially someone who is jst starting with one of those trees from walmart. Thank you

    We don't have Akadama in my country. I am using Zeolite and broken red bricks Grit and broken pomice and perlite and Pine bark and lava rock. Is this mixture ok ?

    22 years ago I bought a pot with a number of ficus benjamina whips inside. I tied them tightly together with twine and the whips fused, eventually resulting in a massive trunk. I suspect this technique works best with any ficus variety. I have seen deciduous trees do this in nature so I would not be surprised that it would work with them as well.

  • @lifeofbonsai
    @lifeofbonsai15 күн бұрын

    Yesss that is amazing . Currently looking for as many as possible ficus of the same variety and try to fuse them. But you are right ficus work best, saw an amazing trident maple fused with lots and lots of seedlings i think conifers won't work however or maybe evergreens will have to test

    Quick question! Yesterday I checked the bark on my tree and it is very bright green (so I know it’s alive)! However, I’m not sure if it was under watering or the leaving inside (I have a small Juniper Bonsai), the outer and some inner part of the tree’s leaves began to turn yellow. Most of the inner part of the tree is still a goodish green, is there anything I can do for it to get back to all green? I’m slowly pruning any dead leafs and yellow bits that clearly don’t have hope. I’m aware that it’s detrimental to prune too much though so I know that much 👍🏽 (Note: I will have a picture of my bonsai tree as my profile picture)

  • @lifeofbonsai
    @lifeofbonsai17 күн бұрын

    So green under the bark is a good sign . Here is what i would do. First checm your watering , make sure to only water when it needs to be watered . I would bring it outside but in shade, don't let the sun hit it, and jst keep trimming the brown tips. Now here is something i do have to say, junipers tend to die from the tips down but jst keep trying , outside on shade and water only when it needs to be

    Great advice with this video , I lost a beautiful maple I had airlayerd , I cut the airlayer from the mother in summer and I lost both plants , I was gutted , I know now my mistake , I do a lot of planting and potting in winter it seems to work better for me. Pruning when the weather is not hot makes a lot of sense to.
