Thanks for your nice comment. Enjoy your visit to the John Day River. I haven't been there in the fall. Because the river isn't dammed, I would guess that the river flow would probably be a lot less in the fall.

Linda & Ray, thank you for your nice comment on this video. Yes, some drones have "autonomous" modes that allow them to fly without input. My drone has a "follow me" mode. I position the drone at a good altitude and position to view me. Then on the controller screen, I draw a box around my image. Then as I walk, the drone follows me. As a solo traveler, it is hard to get different view of yourself. I like using the drone to get different looks to my videos.

Any swiming holes there or near by you might know of? Its the only way i can get my son to go out camping with me. Has to have good swim hole. I love how it looks. Thanks for taking your tike to make this video.

Thanks for the comment. I visited Cottonwood Canyon in the spring, not a good time to go swimming as the water flow is high, air and water temperatures low. So I don't know of any swimming holes in the area. As the John Day River is not dammed, flow decreases greatly during the summer. I expect that there probably are places to swim during the summer, but I don't have any first any information.

Good overall summary of the June Lakes area. Great recreational area and, above all for many of us, incredible fishing. But there are ample hiking, backpacking, and backcountry fishing adventures there as well.

Thanks for the comment. You are probably aware of these places, but camping along the John Day River at Cottonwood Canyon State Park or further upstream at the BLM sites like Muleshoe offer some of the same kind central Oregon scenery.

Watching your video makes me want to go back for another visit. Was your visit very recent? How was the temperature? Last time I was there in June a couple years back it was pretty hot so I wasn't able to walk the trails. Thank you for sharing this beautiful area.

I used to always wait till the frame was free of people while shooting things in nature. Then I realized the benefit in many cases to having someone in the shot as a reference of scale. Beautiful videos! Thanks for posting.

Not sure how you concluded my windshield is clean. If it is based on the videos taken from the front of my van, I didn't actually take those videos through the windshield. I have had a lot of problems with reflections when taking videos through the windshield. So recently I have been using a magnetic mount to hold the camera of the front hood of the van, in front of the windshield. Only problem then is possible bug splatter on the lens of the camera.

Ralph, thanks for the comments. Yes, spring weather can be quite variable on the coast. It did rain some during my visit, but l didn't get video of that. I try to stay at least a few days at the places I visit so that there is a chance I will get some OK weather. The Cape is well known to often be quite windy, but it wasn't too windy during my visit.

Thanks for the positive feedback. I am very much a novice with the drone. I haven't used much hand launching. I usually try to lauch/retrieve from a hard surface. On the beach, I tend to use wet sand which seems to minimize flying sand

I live on the lower Owyhee river and grew up on the lake. Just for info the road to the dam and the tunnel is the old railroad bed used during the construction of the dam. I really enjoyed your video it's my home.

@@festeCanuck even better still , there's lots of really horrendous generic , digital ( A.I.?) "music" that hurts one's ears , but is free , so lots of toobers use it............... good gawd , imagine complaining about the sound of water in an outdoor film
