    Would u know what's causing the inner city passenger train not able to swap workers from main city to pick up within city tram stops? Swap worker is enabled. Been like this from beginning. Had deleted route and try again but same. From my other city game its ok.

    Without seeing the actual save it's very hard to determine where things are going wrong. There is so many places where things can go wrong with labor trains. The official discord is a fairly good place to ask for assistance, my own discord also have 1-2 dedicated sweet transit players. Generally starting in one end and following the route from a->b trying to find anywhere an issue might arise with conditions etc. Common issue is simply not having enough rested workers as well. 😊

  • @Keanomy

    That's the main difficulty of the game. Expanding to fast is probably the biggest issue for people. Keeping a close eye on all upkeep, including city goods will make sure you always keep a good amount of workers which also means a steady amount of tax income. Once you are past steel you will get more money hungry buildings and will have to ration a bit more. Everything prior to that you can fairly safely overproduce quite a bit. Think stone, wood, potatoes, cotton, wheat etc. Overproducting this will also avoid sudden drops in workers if you need to expand.

    I'm having trouble getting trains to load workers when I build a new industry outside of the town. Workers complain not enough work but they don't go to the station (station is in range of houses) and any workers at the station do not get picked up by the train going to the new industry. I've read there is a workaround -- SAVE, EXIT & RESTART, but so far that hasn't worked for me.

  • @Keanomy
    @KeanomyАй бұрын

    There isn't really a workaround, it just shuffles the problem around when you reload the game. This is an indicator of too few workers for some reason. Likely something you're missing. • @Keanomy
    @KeanomyАй бұрын

    Nah, the dying yards a multiplicative. There might be some diminishing returns if you're looking to min-max it but if you are only going for max production the more yards you have connected to a Kiln the better. Just tested in game to make sure, removing a drying yard from my setup lowers production from 330/min to 323/min and the in game wiki's first layout is identical to mine more or less. I've just expanded mine 4x bigger.

  • @Keanomy
    @KeanomyАй бұрын

    There isn't really a economic component. It's a upkeep balancing component, which is more like a production minimum. Thats at least how I see it. If I have enough of something is never a question if I have it in the warehouse, it's always a question if my production is higher than my upkeep. Having it in the warehouse after that is just the natural outcome.

  • @TossiCheeser
    @TossiCheeserАй бұрын

    Hi! Do you know how much passenger traffic that Jonava 1 station can theoretically handle with optimal play? I am not sure I calculate it correctly but I think it should be around 10,000 workers per minute. How big a city do you need to generate that many workers? Also as far as I know you have built the steel mill and refinery incorrectly. It should be the other building being surrounded by the buildings that you put one of each in the middle. As a result you are getting some ridiculous worker requirements for those buildings.

  • @Keanomy
    @KeanomyАй бұрын

    I don't really dabble with calculating throughput. The game isn't requiring optimizing everything so I just build stuff slightly bigger than I imagine it's going to need to be. Resources is more or less a none issue together with upkeep so optimizing just isn't very needed beyond building big enough. It appears you are correct about the steel mill and refinery, I wonder if that has changed or if I have just done it incorrectly over the last 2 years or so. Haha I will fix that in the next episode! Thanks! The fact that I have done this incorrectly all this time and still managed just fine should tell you that optimizing with numbers just doesn't really matter that much. Haha

  • @TossiCheeser
    @TossiCheeserАй бұрын

    Yeah, you can definitely play the game without much optimizing but I think It makes the network much more manageable if you do not overbuild. The way you play it feels to me like at times you are building over 10 times more than what is needed and then you don't have enough space to route trains to where they need to go. Also I think that the capacity of cargo wagons got increased so there is less need for long trains or many trains. I am also wondering about you not taking advantage of distribution centres providing bonuses to production. They allow you to produce more with less so why not use them? Another thing that came to my mind is that building as needed, when needed and only as much as is needed gives the network a much more organic feel. Every junction is different every station is different at least a little bit and in the end the map looks more aesthetically pleasing and interesting than pasting the same oversized crossing over and over again.

  • @Keanomy
    @KeanomyАй бұрын

    There isn't really and answer to that. Couriers and cargo trains have a curve to how much cargo they're able to throughput. The depends on train vs walk length, if there is other trains in the area, storage size, what couriers and trains are being used, etc etc. Saying X is better than Y is either disingenuous, naive or straight up misleading. As a rule of thumb, trains do better with larger amount of cargo and distance. Couriers shine in short distance rapid movement of cargo. Hope that helps! 😊

    I really wish the game or it's documentation was more clear with how things actually worked. When reading the wiki for the "recalculate" action on signals, it doesn't explain a lot except that it mentions that any trans will recalculate the route AFTER the signal. Which is just weird. I have no idea what the use case would be for a signal like that. And it makes the action kinda useless, I think? I also keep having issues with station entry designs, and don't really know what a good solution is... I also remember reading that trains will always recalculate their route when at a chain signal, so the signal action shouldn't be needed anyway, but I might also be mixing up games cause I can't find that mentioned anywhere (official or otherwise).

  • @Keanomy
    @Keanomy2 ай бұрын

    The recalculate signal has always been a confusion. My understanding is that the train evaluates things in front of it when it travels. The recalculate signal instead makes the train recalculate the whole route, allowing for a completely different selection of route, not only the next block/intersection. I've had it explained to me multiple times by the dev even and I think everytime I can out of those discussions with a feeling that they are so niche I don't need to use them unless I have fucked up significantly beforehand.

  • @TossiCheeser
    @TossiCheeser2 ай бұрын

    Hi again! Not sure if you will make use of this but let me share a little routing method that I came up with and that I find very useful for making my network a bit more manageable. I will use fuel delivery in form of coal as an example. Let's say we are loading coal at station X and we need to deliver it to stations A, B and C. I will start with route like: A -> X -> B -> X -> C -> X But! I will only use 1 full size train that can carry a lot of coal so after dropping some coal at A it doesn't need to go to X because it is still 75% full. So I then will add optional order between A and X that will make it skip X and go straight to B if the train is not empty. And then I will do the same between B and X and between C and X. The result is that the train goes A, B, C, A, B, C, A, B, C ... until it's empty and then it will go to X to get loaded back to full. The route will look something like this: 1. Unload @A until done. 2. If train has 1 or more cargo skip to B (4). 3. Load @X until full. 4. Unload @B until done. 5. If train has 1 or more cargo skip to C (7). 6. Load @X until full. 7. Unload @C until done. 8. If train has 1 or more cargo skip to A (1). 9. Load @X until full. I find this type of routing very fitting for delivering fuel, workers or really anything where I can use one big station for loading and then need to deliver the cargo to many other stations like even wheat that later in the game you need to deliver to not only bakeries but also meat and milk farms.

  • @Keanomy
    @Keanomy2 ай бұрын

    Hey! That's nifty! Ive been using something similar, but I only have 1 load node and then check every stop if I have enough fuel left. Now if you'd like to be fancy you could also check each station first and only go there if a valuable enough amount that can be unloaded there! Fun to hear how others are getting on with their routes! 😊

    Hello I am playing Sweet Transit as well so I went to KZread to look for some inspiration and maybe comparison to find out how well I am doing. There are not many english speaking youtubers that cover up to date Sweet Transit or at least I was unable to find many. When I watch your videos I can't help but have a feeling that something went very wrong with your play. When I compare your videos to my play It seems like you have too many problems with train traffic compared to what I think is reasonable. I think you might have overextended in your play, you purchased too many trains, constructed too big stations and too much trackwork and it overall makes everything too complicated for your own good. To have some comparison I currently have exactly 16940 strong population in my game and I am able to serve it with 36 trains which are all 11 tiles long and what I see in your gameplay makes me scratch my head hard.

  • @Keanomy
    @Keanomy2 ай бұрын

    Nothing really going wrong, just different mindset for this playthrough. I'm exploding upkeep and building significantly larger than what you likely are doing. I'm on a 1024x1024 sized map and is covering 1/4 of the map with what we have right now 1 city and just passed bricks/meat production. Larger stations and trains mean I am able to easily expand once I hit diesel. Currently gearing up for my second city that should allow me to produce diesel without worrying about upkeep. There is 2 large bumps in upkeep I'm accounting for already, 1st at bricks(we will get through that in the next episode), and 2nd is when transitioning from coal to diesel powered trains. As you can see on my channel I have played 100's of hours, meaning I like to challenge myself and do stuff a bit different. This series just happens to have a large map with really large distances, meaning I need a lot of trains to maintain upkeep with the upside that I can easily expand in the future. The downside is that it generates a lot of traffic which is a fun and rewarding challenge to solve. There is more than one way to play the game, if you'd like to see a less chaotic playthrough maybe you should take a look at the one city challenge I did on a smaller 20x20 sized map. 🙂 kzread.info/head/PLqeZu3IlhVNMvl9fU2wPJCKf4K0_dmcPh

    I'm also in the "more towns" camp. Especially considering the train-density in front of the main town. You did basically build a sencond worker town, with commuter shuttle, own supply from a distinct station (potatoes, bread, clothes) and completely local fish. You just happen to do that inside the existing town for some reason instead of clicking the "new town" button first ;) Since you have the infrastructure anyway, you can just send stuff over from the exising production and not add (much) to the dense existing train jungle. While it does add a few cargo trains (bread and/or clothes, mostly), it does in return reduce the load on the main town for worker trains, at least in theory.

    I know this is an older video by now, and you likely figured all this out already, but for the "if - goto" rules in the Routes: My understanding is, that you put the condition in the station before the one you're making a decision about. After all, if you want to skip that station, it's nice to be able to take a different/shorter route to the one after it. You drive to the station, then make the decision to skip it or stop, but you're already there. If you put the condition on the station before, it makes a bit more sense, and you also don't have the double-entry. I haven't needed it myself yet though, so I don't know if you'd add it with an "and" or "or" connection to the previous stations action.

    Yeah, took me a while to recalibrate as I went in with the previous system in mind that worked differently. Now however I do think I understand it fairly well and your description is fairly good. 👍

    Great video, it was really enjoyable to watch. I stumbled upon your channel by accident and I'm wondering how it's not more popular :D

    I work really hard to tank the KZread algorithm by playing no name games and unreasonably irrelevant games. I guess I'm doing well. 😅🤣

    hi question? why is that you dont use courier shacks? Is a distribution center a better upgraded version of it? I do not understand how these two are different i hope you can help me

    I do in fact use courier shacks as well when the throughput requires it. The distribution center is more or less a combination of couriers(up to 50 laborers and a storage. On top of that it also gives you a production bonus if you are only connecting one production type to the distribution center! 😊👍

    @@Keanomy thank you do i stick to courier shacks or use a distribution center straight away?

    Depends on if you benefit from a distribution center. If you can get a production bonus you of course would like to have that. It's also a decent place go pool resources. No one way to play the game, try it out, if it doesn't work a rebuild is free so you can build and rebuild as long as you'd like.

    Let's say you were born in 1990 and the current year is x. The electronic form on the website shouldn't write your birthdate in your profile because it's private. Instead, it should only display your age. You could show "time.year % user.birthdate.year" in your profile, which would result in 34 (in the year 2024). Just a simple example of the modulo operator. Additionally, with "if x % 2 == true," you can easily determine if x is an even or odd number. Let's say you're creating a program where you can set a grid. However, the grid can't be crooked or uneven. You have a point every 3 pixels. The user wants to set their grid to a width of 28 pixels. Is 28 a multiple of 3? Otherwise, the grid would be uneven. So you write "if user.value % 3 != 0: raise.error("Please enter a valid size!")

    Those are both good use cases. I'm very much a hobby developer and have very limited experience with user input😅 most of my programs are just some simple tools for some repetitive tasks I do daily 👍 Appreciate the examples, knowledge is never heavy to carry!
