My Aunt had 4 boys. Whenever they were fighting too much she would seat them at the table across from each other with a pencil & a piece of paper. They weren't allowed to move from the table until they listed 10 good things about the brother they were fighting with. Usually by the time they were done they forgot what they were fighting about. I thougt it was a genius idea. I planned on using it with my kids but ended up having only one.

I have two boys that have made Summer break feel like 20yrs with the constant fighting. It’s actually nice to know that even with both of you there, and as calm as you both seem to be, that the girls still do it. My mom says my sis and I did it, I don’t remember it being constant, but we outgrew it. Hoping my boys outgrow it soon..

My bestie had 2 girls that were 2 years apart and they fought so much when they were little and now that they are adults, they are each other's bestest friends and have such an amazing bond. Sibling rivalry is natural. You have a beautiful family! 💜❤️💙

8:00 Fighting kids: I can see it as clearly as if it was yesterday. I had 2 daughters, 15 months apart, they were either best buddies or worst enemies, no in between. I let them battle it out for the most part, unless it got ugly, name calling etc was not allowed in my home, I had enough of that when I was growing up and my parents never interceded. So, no name calling. My oldest child was relentless, just quietly pick, pick, pick on the youngest, she thought I didn't know about it, shoot I lived through it, all those silent little digs from my brothers and sisters, been there done that. One day they were in their room (2 bedroom apartment) (13 and 14 yo), I heard the verbal getting louder so I knew the silent digs had been going on for awhile, all of a sudden I heard a loud cRaSh!!!! And my oldest came squallin' down the hallway, tears streaming, snot flowing and holding the side of her face, then she just screamed, "SHE HIT ME!!!" I looked at her and calmly said, "Good, its about time." and then I turned back to my dinner preps and she continued, "You're not going to do anything about it???" I thought about it a second or two then said, "I might buy some super glue for whatever you guys broke in there, but no I'm not going to punish her, you started something and she finished it." She never again picked a fight with her 'little' sister anymore because little sister finally grew a spine and found her voice. The nice thing about having 2 kids is you can knock their heads together or wait for the day when they take care of their own business. I don't condone name calling or physical altercations, but sometimes you gotta use the only communication that works during that particular time and situation. My youngest cleared out a lot of inner angst that day and her older sister learned a lesson. She got knocked on her sit-upon, she got decked, and she learned... that's what you get when you push someone to the breaking point. Just be patient, you guys haven't even puberty yet!!! Start praying now!!! Oh, and my 2 are still breathing.....

When my girls were little and they’d fight over a toy I started out by giving them 2 options (one would get the toy for 15 minutes and then the other one would get it for 15 minutes or they’d both agree than neither one of them would play with that toy and they’d both choose something else to play with). Then I’d ask which one they wanted to do and over time I’d change it up to where they would come up with their own solution. The day I overheard them compromise without my help just about brought tears to my eyes! If they were just arguing I’d make them get face to face and do something goofy like put their thumbs in their ears and wiggle their fingers while sticking their tongues out. They’d start laughing and the argument would be over. It was the same thing that they’d realize that they were arguing and do something to make each other laugh instead.

I grew up with a sister who was Very close to me in age and we fought. A Lot. Sometimes it was just verbal squabbling and sometimes it was serious to the point where we could have injured each other. Our mom would usually let us work things out until we put hands on each other. We are great friends now, by the way. Sometimes, when we would get rough with each other she would give us a job to do. It was usually a 'hard' job and almost always something we hated doing, like hilling the potatoes or pulling weeds in the garden or cleaning. Other times she separated us to the point we were not allowed to speak to or see each other. That was hard on us because even though we fought we were also each other's best friend. We lived Way out in the boonies and there weren't other kids around for us to play with. She believed in spanking and would pick a switch and put it in a glass of water on the table after telling us that the next time she would use it. And she would. She Never, ever told us something like that and then didn't follow through. If she said it, it was gospel. Poor woman, I don't know how she survived us. Hahaha! She was a Great mom, a soft place to land when life got rough on us but tough as nails when we needed her to be.
