    Freezier with Thermo Regulator is easier and less demanding on wires.

  • @erisia_gaming
    @erisia_gaming14 сағат бұрын

    Yeah if you don't have conductive wires this is fair enough, but the Thermo Regulator does use more power overall due to the lower efficiency of the building / heat capacity of gases.

    @@erisia_gaming that is true and all, but it is neglectable in this case. you just don't have abundance of refined metals at a stage of a game where you need and can make freezier.

    On 3, I choose not to use infinite storage except for solids, and I suspect that if pressure was implemented as you describe people would just find ways to move their storages to the neutronium borders. For me, I really don't want to use inifinite storage at all, but with solids, the alternative is literally hundreds of bins. I'd like it if there was a larger storage bin that holds much more mass, and if I was given that I would likely use those instead of dispensers dropping on one tile. Or a way of making 'packed' solids - build tiles that are packed versions of solids that contain something like 10 or 20t of material, make it the tier 4 construction skilll. They wouldn't count as natural tiles so you couldn't grow anything on them. Let robo-miners drill them when you need access to the actual material. I guess you;d need to somehow make them not a replacement for bunker doors though.

    Thank you for all your great videos! I use a cooled diagonally accessible tile as main freeze storage for both cooking ingredients and the finished food. That way i can have one autosweeper load the grill/oven, a second autosweeper pick up and put back produced food to cooled tile and then a third repeatedly autosweep a few kg of food to a designated fridge in the mess hall. It is however a bit tricky to set up without the sweepers getting caught in an infinite storage loop but you can store both ingredients and food that way without any labor (except cooking of course).

    Thank you! Yes that's generally a very good idea. I don't tend to do it as I like all of my builds to be accessible without deconstruction as much as possible, but generally a very useful concept.

    Nectar is probably the best material they added in the frosty planet pack. It's basically super water - and you can even make plastic with it. Mercury could have been amazing if Klei made it capable of forming amalgams with refined metals (like in real life) but currently all it seems to do is exist as an annoyance.

    I'm a bit curious about the mutating plants, is there a standard "go to" for the prefered mutation?

  • @erisia_gaming
    @erisia_gaming2 күн бұрын

    What I've seen people do is use Radiation Lamps with Duplicant Motion Sensors so that the plants are only irradiated when they are harvested and the seeds are produced, as that is what determines mutation. It's just a manner of doing it once until you get the mutation you want and then duplicating that seed somehow. There's a pretty good screenshot on my Discord of such a setup.

    I realize it hadn't been introduced at the time, but I just want to say nowadays Mushroom Quiches would be S tier IMHO. It's a bit complicated to setup because it has several parts to it, but once it's setup it's incredibly good. It's super resource efficient, it has the max moral bonus, it comes with the seafood buff and it has the highest calory/weight ratio in the game which makes it perfect to feed the Tree God thingy. Plus, the Frosty Planet DLC buffed anything made from omelettes because floxes are good for omelettes and also alveo veras provide seed which are great for pacus, themselves amazing for omelettes.

    Algae Terraiums can be fully submerged in water and work. They'll pull water from the surroundings too. If you're having trouble putting a light source, such as at the bottom of the water asteroid, then use glass. They are not limited by overpressure or submerging issues, and do not require direct water. With the current carved lumen quartz, they don't even require power. Technically shinebugs can work too. Its a niche usecase, as usually you are more limited by water-- but it is a usecase. The polluted oxygen offgas has its uses too, but when fully submerged, this isn't an issue. When you're not limited by water, algae terraiums become very interesting.

    With regard to oakshell, an underused strategy is to use them as breeders for other variants. An oakshell in water will tend to lay sanishell. An oakshell in a dry ranch will tend to lay pokeshells. Yet, the critter will still shed their 100 kg of lumber per cycle. Since you are losing out the lumber from their offspring, they will be less efficient on a pdirt to sand basis: they end up at around 50% over their lifetime like other morphs. However, if you were gonna ranch pokeshells or sanishells anyway, it's almost certainly better to use oakshells as breeders for that juicy 50 kg of ethanol per cycle. Essentially, oakshells raised for oakshells will consume about 13 kg of pdirt and give 17.5 kg of sand, 32kg of water each cycle and 108 watts of net power. Oakshells raised in water or air will give cost at most 37 kg of pdirt per cycle and produce 17.5 kg of sand, 18.75 kg of pwater each cycle and 70 watts, plus an egg every 6 cycles. A pokeshell or a sanishell raised in their own element will cost 70 kg of pdirt for 35 kg of sand and an egg every 6 cycle, but no water and no power.

    could this make for a practical infinite refrigerator cooling solution?

  • @erisia_gaming
    @erisia_gaming10 күн бұрын

    Yes, but you would need to use it to cool down a Thermo Aquatuner or Regulator, as the Water needed for the Ice Maker to run continuously won't melt below 3° C. But you could use this set up to cool a Thermo Aquatuner instead of using a Steam Turbine if you want. This would be best combined with the new Nectar as it's the highest capacity coolant until Super Coolant now.

  • @alamrasyidi4097
    @alamrasyidi409710 күн бұрын

    @@erisia_gaming i want to avoid having to afford the extra power requirement for an aquatuner or regulator, though. what about using the freshly frozen ice for the infinite refrigerator first and then use it to cool other stuff? (which doesnt need to go below -18c)

  • @erisia_gaming
    @erisia_gaming10 күн бұрын

    You could make the -20° C Ice and then transport it very carefully to some room where it runs around metal tiles, but I think the temperature would be too close to the -18° C threshold for "Deep Freeze" for such a setup to be practical. Thermo Aquatuner for a freezer is now twice as power efficient as before if Nectar is used.

    2:00:49 Funny that Klei chose to ignore how poisonous real mercury is, maybe to make the game simpler, but bio accumulation of mercury in fish is one of the biggest concerns about mercury poisoning and yet pacu can live in it, which is funny. Maybe they could add a new pacu variant that converts liquid mercury into something else, or a new pokeshell variant that you get when it lives in liquid mercury that gives something else. Also mercury should offgas like polluted water, honestly. It's one of the reasons mercury is so dangerous when spilled in real life. And since we already have gold amalgam in the game....maybe dropping refined metal into mercury would turn them back into their ore (or at the very least for gold back into gold amalgam).
