Feeble King

I love analyzing my favorite art and turning these thoughts into video essays. My favorite things are Fromsoft games, Anime, and Seinen Manga like Berserk or Vinland Saga. It will take me many years to make good videos on all of the things that I love, and I hope that you'll be there with me to see it through.

    The writing is pure trash the last seasons. One of the biggest offenders to me is the death of potato girl, just so they can push the little strong girl that has no flaws(just misconceptions, that obviously overcome) and can shoot better than anyone. And they put her on 1/10000 situations, "what a coincidence, huh?", and what are the chances she had the hair color and for no reason choose to suddenly use the same style as potato girl when she just happens to save the blonde girl who on top of that was who hated the most her, and was shouting the potato girl name at that moment... is like multiple layers of shit and trash, to build a huge pile of crap

    I'm not watching the video, but I've been playing through all the souls games and I LOVE Elden Ring bosses. I think delayed attacks are more readable than people imply, and multi-hit combos are usually based on your position. Sure you have to learn the boss fight, but how is that any different than Midir, or Friede, or even the Ivory King or Artorias? I mean it's stupid to critique it that way.

    I agree with you about the dlc the fun is gone and the only boss i liked was the Lion boss and most rewards for exploration is not worth it and sadly enough if anyone dare to critisis a from Software game the hard core fans get nutts and and call you bad names att screaming git gud and what not. And i think the dlc would be better if it was smaller so many big ereas that are almost empty and to see Radahn as the last boss was very dissapointing.

    This guy is being very dramatic, but I get was he’s saying. I just beat the main game, and I started playing Elden Ring a few weeks ago. So the DLC is the just more base game to me. When in that context, the DLC feels like regular Elden Ring but… slightly less quality in every way. It’s big but more empty, its traversal is incredibly confusing and tedious. The bosses… well, feel kinda fair, BUT, I’m a scrub, I use bleed/mimic tear. It almost feels like the bosses are designed around Mimic /summons with all there crazy aggressive combos. That’s not really fair for people who want the 1v1, I’d rather have it be like the base game. That is, fight the hard boss like a man and feel great, or use mimic to beat them rather easily without the satisfaction. I went from “wow, I proly could’ve beat that without mimic” to “thank fucking god I have him”. It’s like they saw everyone sucking off Melania, and said “let’s make every boss like her”. It’s truly gorgeous of course, but yeah, less polished. Which is crazy cuz most expansions are BETTER than their base games because they’ve had time to learn from their mistakes. Elden Ring was nearly perfect (except for quest design), and adding more was just diminishing returns. Its weird.

For every one that is just trying to defend elden ring rhe game is good and i dont think that this guy is saying its complete shit but he is looking for the inperfections because no game is perfect and by reviewing it like this it makes everyone think about what should be .I think that this is the way every game rewiew should be good work man.

    Personally I think a “training mode” would go a long way. Imagine you could find a set of items that allows you to practice the individual moves of a boss free of harsh punishment. It could be a reward for exploration and a way to raise the skill ceiling for boss fights. Gaius is fair…you can roll the charge by sprinting to the side first and he staggers easy. YOU SHOULD NOT FIGHT HIM ON THE HORSE

    The weirdest part about Elden Ring criticism is once you compare it to other video games. I get the complaints, but when other games have worse enemy variety, exploration, level design and story then why even bothered criticizing Elden Ring tell other companies can ketchup? Also have to point out the unlimited potential of modding for Elden Ring. Playing Elden Ring with Sekrio mod is so satisfying and still has room for improvement. This is also why Skyoblivion and Skywind are arguably the most exciting upcoming games.

    I just don't understand how you thought this was a well thought piece of critique. I'm not saying Elden Ring or the DLC are perfect or that they are beyond critique, but your points make no sense. You say that you don't get rewards for exploration that are meaningful, but that's because you don't want to change your weapon as it's maxed, you use a melee build so you don't want spells, you don't craft so you dont' want books and you don't use Spirit Ashes, so you dont' want those.. so, what exactly could they give you for exploring a dungeon? Money?

    "Why is a game with mostly useless items a open world game?", I understand what you mean by that, but I disagree with you to the extend that in an open world game there will always be nearly useless items for a certain type of player. You can't expect everything to be tailored to your extremely limited playstyle that boils down to melee only no summons, no sorceries and no incantations. You can't just go into the dlc of Elden Ring and expect every single item to be of value for you. Not everyone has to enjoy everything or use everything they find, but you gotta either try the shit out you find or just use the basegame loot and ignore everything else the DLC threw at you and play through with a Godslayer Greatsword on lvl 10 without taking into consideration that there could be another weapon you might like to try out

    So i discovered you from the ds2 vanilla video which i agreed in almost all things . But here you missed the mark by a long shot . You complain about bosses made difficult but refuse to use the tools the game provide you . For example Bayle is a dragon,Igon is a dragon hunter. Also there is a literal great katana made to kill dragons but no lets use mylady without a dedicated dragon hunter because fack you Miyazaki thats why... Also no you are not high level in the dlc you are lvl 0 in the start with max being 20. baffles me that people don't understand that... I beat most bosses in around 5 tries without looking to the internet or even using the same build.. only boss i had problem was radahn but that was me being stupid and not thinking. Because after i remembered about rot and radahn i downed him in less than 10 tries ..

    I had to stop the video during the Pontiff section after realizing this isn't worth my time. The moment I hear people compare a Dark Souls game with Elden Ring to bad mouth Elden Ring it calls into question their ability to understand how mechanically different the two games are. The thought that "I shouldn't be punished for healing" when the only precaution you took was running away rather than sacrificing your attack opening to recover or the "I have to run away and wait instead of attacking the boss" goes to show that some people aren't capable of thinking for themselves and just parrots opinions they have heard on the internet, let me break down my point of view. For bosses like Pontiff with short punish windows, in the context of Dark Souls 3, it is supposed to feel oppressive, that is the entire point of it, the magic of Dark Souls isn't a "fair duel" like Gundyr, Abyss Watchers, or Dragonslayer it's succeeding against insurmountable odds and toppling beings you shouldn't be able to, the point is to struggle until you overcome it. For Elden Ring, the people who complain about combos strings or having to wait for "your turn to attack" fundemently misunderstand the way the game is made, you have tools that you can use to level the playing field, and if you succumb to 'scrub mentality' and don't want to use summons or ranged attacks you still have the most powerful too given to you by default, stance damage. In these games, HP is a resource meant to be used, it can be used to make up for mistakes or as a resource to be as aggressive as the foes you are facing, running away to heal off 1 hit rather than pushing in to continue the fight is what Dark Souls has conditioned people to do. The problem is people either say Elden Ring is too hard because bosses are tough of they say it's too easy since you can overlevel things, but taken at it's base level difficulty, Elden Ring has so much more depth to combat than Dark Souls but it allows you to play it like Dark Souls (spamming rolls and R1s to your heart's content) but it punishes you when you do so, with attacks that are designed to hit panic rollers or quickly reply to interrupt your own combos. It is legitimately a skill issue, or the internalized 'scrub mentality'

    Completely agree, this video highlights what I was feeling throughout the dlc and perfectly hits the right points. It feels forced, empty and lazy. However the soundtracks are fantastic and it looks good. Way too many bosses though e.g I remember Maliketh the black blade far mote than golden hippo or scadutree avatar. Even Romina was just lame. If they just made the dlc much smaller, densely pacted and rewarding and cut out 60% of the bosses then it would be much better. Regarding the difficultly I do enjoy the "boring playstyle" and would like to learn the moveset fromsoft spent time creating however the bosses do take the mick in the dlc. I have gone through the entire base game with the lordsworns greatsword and a basic shield and been able to defeat every boss with those weapons organically. For the first time I have had to use numerous larval tears to try and find a build that works on Rellana and resorted to bleed for her and radahn. This is for me a form of cheating as it makes the fight significantly easier. The camera angles on Bayle and lion especially were just a pain at times when u see through the boss. This issue never really happened in the base game other than perhaps fire giant which solved it for its huge arena. Healing is healing for me so I'm not too bothered about that you just have to time it right. I could go on and have missed loads but I believe fromsoft relaxed a bit with this dlc and lived off of the support they got for elden ring. Just because the base game is near perfect doesn't mean the dlc is. You need to put in the same level of effort to get the same results. On balance look it's not an awful dlc or even bad really. It's average but what brings it down is the fact it's a dlc for what is probably one of the best games ever made.

    Tbf there are some points I agree w but most are problems I just never encountered, I played the vanilla first and scholar later so of course it was easier for me to understand what was going on. The fragrant branch of yore problem was never a problem for me, because I feel like in scholar they’re not as rare. I found them everywhere in scholar. I feel like the developers thought the significance of the petrified statues in vanilla was not enough. So they decided to make it more of a challenge, like a puzzle you know? That’s my thoughts anyway

    I've been wanting Fromsoft to shake up their gameplay formula for the longest, and while Elden Ring IS a step in the right direction, yes, they dont do well at teaching players the new combat mechanics in the way Sekiro does. There has to be clear visuals of what attacks are jumpable, blockable, dodgeable, because the process of learning a fight, as it is now, completely blind, with frustrating levels of trial and error (unless you choose to summon or cheese strat), just isnt the kind of formula I personally find fun. Also, open world. Lots of empty, unused space, rewards for exploration that are still very hit and miss (though I appreciate that the DLC is way more compact than the base game. I want to see them add on to combat mechanics, so its not just still majorily roll based, but it has to be something that's obvious and deliberately core to the boss designs, again, like Sekiro, and I want to see polish in the exploration rewards. No more fucking consumable bait, or cookbooks, *please.*

  • @luciflaire8935
    @luciflaire893511 сағат бұрын

    I disagree because certain attacks can be jumped, outpositioned and rolled and it should be up to the player to figure out what is the best for each situation (roll to disengage, outposition for heal or strong punish, jump for light or strong punish). I personally find this a very satisfying skill to execute well. I think the tutorial does just enough of what everything does while the difficulty of bosses shows them what each option can do. I get that this is a very big task to do blind, but I personally find that ''maybe I can do this more optimal'' loop very rewarding. I also disagree on the open world but can absolutely understand that it's not for everyone. On a first playthrough I am perfectly content with just going somewhere and enjoying the journey and the view. I do think a lot of weapons laying around get overlooked in this kind of argument, because they are part of the loot. Yeah there are too many cookbooks, but without exploring you wouldn't find any of the amazing new weapons, like the backhand blades laying around in coffins on the gravesite plains or the smithscript weapons. To each their own, but I wouldn't want fromsoft to change the fundamentals of the dlc.
