am in Canada. Thank you for this video and your time. Just found your video. Have a dual button cylindrical flush valve of unknown age where the plunger frequently stays in the up position. The valve doesn't want to twist to be pulled out. It is in a one-piece toilet so I'm sure it can be removed from the seat bottom part. But I don't want to force the issue 'cause afraid something plastic might break. Wanted to remove and look at valve all around to see if can deduce why the plunger frequently stays in the up position, how to make adjustments, and to determine the manufacturer/model. I can't find the exact same looking valve online, on sale or in videos, so I can not find out how to make adjustments, while installed. It's in a WaterRidge one-piece toilet of unknown age, with no model # to be seen. The valve may have been changed out, because the fill valve is a FloatMaster400, not a WaterRidge valve. My valve looks similar the Caroma flush-valve 4900 with the blue and yellow buttons, and a blue external float on a rod. The Caroma has a blue rod and a way to adjust the float's height, while mine has a yellow rod but not the Caroma's adjustment. (I presume there must be some way to adjust. the float height.) This got to be more words than I originally intended.

Hi Richard. Yes I've watched it. The top piece appears broken despite changing the washer, so was wondering if only that piece can be replaced instead of the entire inlet valve. If so, where can I buy one?

Amazing video, was much helpful and saved me $ 😊 If I may suggest..... If the valve is being accessed whilst installed in the Cistern; the first step would be to extend the height (i.e. the last tip in your video) this will give one more room to dis-mantle the valve. Once re-assembled, the height can thereafter be adjusted to ones preference. Thanks once again👍

Just watched this video as I need to replace just the 2 buttons on the top (moon and sun). But your video does not allow for fitting the cistern top back on as the lip of the metal column is too big to go through the hole in the cistern lid!. I will have to do it through the hole in the top of the cistern lid.

You can do the step with pushing in the peg and twisting the top part anticlockwise first, which let's you remove it and have more space to do the steps before that. I was struggling for a few minutes before I realised I could do that first and not have to fiddle with screwdrivers in the cistern.

Thank you for the video. Here in Melbourne, dad flushed the toilet and the water kept flowing into the toilet. Looked into and for unknown to me reason the plastic cover/cap/stopper which holds the rubber valve at the bottom of the piston has disappeared. looks like it flushed into the pipe somehow... No idea how it could break. So I need to buy the parts for the bottom of the piston. I am guessing parts like that can't be easily found.

Same issue here: the part disapeared but it was too wide to be flushed... for anyone reading this, it was stuck in the ceramic pipe just a few centimetres away but out of sight, and out of reach with your fingers. Using a flexible aluminium wire and a hook, I was able to fish the part. The plastic clips were damaged (hence why it felt in the first instance), but I'll use epoxy or PVC glue to hold it back together. $100 saved!

BUT pushing flys button it jerks up and stops flush I now have to hold down til finished flushing. White pegs are as before. I’m stumped to what would be causing this. Before you pushed button down and walked away and it flushed and filled up with water … buttons not working properly? Any ideas please. Thanks.

Thanks for this informative video. However, as a plumber I HATE all push-button siphons. They are ridiculously over-complicated and the whole thing looks like the Starship Enterprise. What's more, even though the stupid things are supposed to save water by having dual flushes, they will almost always leak once the flap valve gets scaled up. That's why, all over the world these bloody things will be wasting water 24/7 as the water they let by slowly trickles down the pan.

I just moved in to a new apartment. The toilet button is just like the one seen in your video above. Unfortunately, both buttons are stuck down with corrosion, so I can't get underneath them with a flathead screwdriver to remove them like you have suggested. Luckily the toilet can still be flushed by pushing down because the buttons are not flush-no pun intended-with the tank lid the whole flush valve can depressed by pushing the buttons down. I'd like replace these buttons so I can have both the half and full flush available. Have you got any suggestions regarding the best way to remove them?
