Very nice John. Thanks for sharing. As a former video producer I appreciate the energy that went into this creation. Were the high angle shots done with a drone?

Hi Foster, just got my solar charging system and was wondering where you installed your charge controler and inverter? I am installing 3 100 watt mono. Panels over the Davits
@Fosterfanning4 жыл бұрын
Howdy Ron, brought the wiring inboard via the aft radar post harness. carried the wiring starboard tucked up behind the inboard toe-rail hardware and into the closet just astern and starboard of the head. drilled through and mounted the control panel there. then carried the wiring down inside that closet to the bulkhead and drilled thru to the batteries. For the inverter we mounted it in the nav-station on the wall stern-side. The wiring was easy to fish thru the inset part of the nav station wall aft.

Foster Fanning Hi Foster, that’s pretty much what I thought. My air conditioner electrical box is on that bulkhead. I’ll figure it out . Got some really bad news, my wife has lupus. One of her symptoms is she can’t be out in the sun it causes her to break out in a rash. So I put Checkmate on the market. I listed her on craigs list jacksonville all sailboats. And sailboat listings Florida. It’s sad but I have other hobbies and I can sail with you in your videos

Hey Ronald, that to hear that boat is working out. Yep, sweet, little vessels. We did 90 days last year and can't wait for more.

SV Checkmate is a 1983 model. I named her after the rock group I was in in the 1960s. We found each other again after 50 years and we get together to pick and grin every now and again. The boat has been great but every thing on the starboard side of the engine s a challenge to work on. I am planning to make some access ports in the head bulkhead for better access. What challenges have you experiences like this?
@Fosterfanning4 жыл бұрын
@@ronaldpaul3703 Same. Fortunately Catherine is petite and willing to perform Yanmar Yoga and check the oil. But we have seriously considered access ports, once we figure out how to move the wiring and hoses attached to that bulkhead. Good luck. PS Good boat name, great story...

Foster do you still own AQUILA? A S2 9.2C came up for sale in my area. In doing my research I ran across your channel Your sailing videos convinced me to buy the boat . The only problem I am having is engine access , especially returning the dip stick to its hole. Did you have a problem with this any advise or comments would be appreciated thanks Ron Paul in Jacksonville Fl
@Fosterfanning4 жыл бұрын
Ronald, yes, we still own AQUILA. 2019 marked our 14th year of cruising that fine vessel as her 2nd owners. Yep, that starboard side dip stick mount is a bear. I've been threatening to cut into the wall between the engine compartment and head for a few years now, but haven't done that yet. When I check the oil I pull the nav-station table-top off and go over the top of the engine. Catherine is smaller than I and when she checks the oil she comes at it from the aft end of the engine and reaches around the block. Either was its done by brail. Good luck...
