    You don't need to stir kalkwasser. If your buying the not pure kalkwasser then yes. But pure kalk releases in the water quality. For example if you bottle of kalk says 99.9 % that's pure. The other kalks are not pure and leach metals into your water like BRS kalkwasser.

    Have to admit, though I love my IM 200g ext peninsula. I was disappointed that the returns aren’t a true 3/4”. The inlet to the bulkhead is 3/4”, but it reduces through the glass and into the tank. Boo.

  • @JCSReefing
    @JCSReefing10 ай бұрын

    Thanks for sharing. Didn’t really notice that as it went into the lock line inside the tank. That being said, even with a slight reduction I would think you still can get plenty of GPH turn over. 🐠🤙

    @@JCSReefing the concern I have with this type of settup is when calculating the back pressure in reference to hydrodynamic flow, the same amount of flow will cause much more demand on the pump, and cause premature pump failure. I would have definitely made a different choice of return pumps. That is the primary concern with 3/4” piping that restricts to 1/2” prior to its outlet. The only real benefit from having the 3/4” piping in this type of instance is less friction coefficient, which reduces radiant heat. Any restriction in inner diameter, will cause the same amount of back pressure at minimum, and maybe even more because it will cause the flow to become turbulent. It’s not going to stop me from using my tank, but it is a bummer, when you thought you had a real 3/4” inlet. Specially when I purchased my own 3/4” lock line attachments because I had my own design. Just something I wish they let people know about. All in all it will work fine, I am just a stickler for detail, and each detail coincides with an important decision about settup.

  • @4foxsake571
    @4foxsake57110 ай бұрын

    @@JCSReefing yes the loc line, but the actual bulkhead is a reducer. The back of the bull head is 3/4”, but as soon as it comes through the glass is reduces to 1/2” in the bulkhead. I removed the factory bulkhead, and was going to add my own 3/4” bulkhead, but in no way would it fit. Not even close. That’s when I realized something was not as advertised.

    Thank you for the build videos. I currently have a 200 EXT still crated in the garage, but the stand is built. I did have a couple questions for you. First off, with the plumbing did you have any concerns with its weight hanging on the return bulkheads or overflow? Or is this pretty solid since its connected to a bulkhead in the sump? I was contemplating using 80/20 to support some of the plumbing, but maybe I'm over thinking things. That brings me to my second question, what size t-nutz are you using? Even if I don't use 80/20 for the plumbing, I'd still like to use it for mounting lights, control board, etc within the stand. Thanks again and look forward to your next video.

  • @JCSReefing

    I appreciate the support. As far as the plumbing, I did 3d print some brackets that support the plumbing a bit to the wall. That being said, Once it is plumbed, (depending on how you plumb it) it is supported pretty well without. I would be happy to send you some additional pictures if you need. Now for the T-nuts, I contacted IM and there aluminum stands are there own type of extruded aluminum size. That being said, they did say T-3-T5 nuts can work so for myself, I purchased a mixed pack off amazon----www.amazon.com/gp/product/B098RLZM73/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 Let me know if you have any other questions-- 🙂
