Hello Donnie!! What a beautiful song, yet sad! Brian penned this beauty after finding himself stuck between a rock and a hard place .. his difficult break-up with first wife Chrissie Mullen and his new relationship with Anita Dobson, now wife of over 20 years! Freddie’s version is gorgeous too, but conveys a different meaning! 💔

I can see how it coming across as disrespectful but it is definitely not trying to mock the bible. If anything she’s very religious and that is influenced by her religious experiences on LSD. it’s also just how Nina is. Her individualism and artistic freedom makes it so that she doesn’t have to prove herself to others. She is only trying to be a medium for the sound that she hears. That can make her very tone deaf at times like in her song “African Reggae”, which if released today would be at least cultural appropriation..It’s still a great song (studio version) and I recommend it! For a more serious (vocally at least) and operatic song you can do “Zarah”

Static is not the Aaliyah cousin or brother lol, the Aaliyah's brother is Rashad and he's not on this song, On the first verse and the chorus it's Timbaland that you can hear, on the second verse it's Static. I was never a big fan of this music either. Static wrote most of the songs on Aaliyah's album "Aaliyah." He also wrote "Are You That Somebody," "Try Again," "More Than a Woman," "We Need A Resolution'',''Rock The Boat'' etc., and you can hear him in the background vocals and harmonies on each song. Static Major was part of the group Playa. Could you react to "Steady Ground (feat Static)" by Aaliyah ? (the OG version, not the one produced by Chris Flame who was made after her death) It was supposed to be part of the "Aaliyah" album among the first singles, but the person who mixed the track somehow deleted Aaliyah's vocals, so it was not on the album and we only have the Aaliyah's demo version vocals, Static also wrote it.
