It's sad that this part is not in the movie, I think it shows how vulnerable the Phantom is and what makes him human in amidst of his own madness. It shows that even the "mighty-oh-so-spoopy" Phantom is actually just like everyone else, that even HE could get hurt. (I feel like Sir Butler's moody broody sexiness appeal here is cute, hehe ^//^ Makes me want to go there and give him a good big hug, wrap him in a cozy blanket, and serve him some hot cocoa..., and perhaps start the therapy session.... ^^; ) I think it's not bad to show the audience this side of the Phantom, because in the end, the Phantom is but a human. But I guess it's a bit hard to put this scene in the story line... I'm just curious with the script that leads to this scene and what comes after.

It was planned to go after Why so silent?/Madame Giry's backstory of the Phantom. When he sits down at the end, you can see his red mantle of the Red Death costume on the chair back.

I agree that they should have kept this in. Actually, they did include a slightly different version at the end credits, sung by Minnie Driver.

I had the DVD. How did I miss this deleted scene?! I always LOVED the music but the lyrics were too hopeless. This at least gives a story about the phantom. Came at the right time though. I'm planning my wedding next year and it's going to be POTO themed ❤️

Unpopular opinion, I’m glad they kept this out. It’s unnecessary and we still feel for Erik’s pain without it.

The Phantom has low self-esteem due to his deformity. He closes him self no one hears his heart thst is full of love but he doesnt know how to express it. Just Christine know because she felt the same. Interesting, sweetie. Why dont you find the way to put it on stage in Bellas Artes , Luis A Ferré en San Juan, Puerto Rico? And part of what it raised is given to non- profit Institution. Its good idea., sweetie. 🌹🌹🥰🥰

I always wondered where this would be in the movie itself, clearly after he found out Raoul and her kissed but i imagine it was the part right before the Masqurade in as we can see the play for Don Juan Triumphant is in the back but still in the process, and if you watch the scene where Erik and Christine walk up the stairs to meet, the instrumental part of this plays for a bit before he gets mad. At this point he isn't mad at her, he believes that she is just being fooled by Raoul since he is handsome and only now noticed her both as a person and a talent. If anyone has any thoughts when this is go ahead and comment, im actually curious.

Honestly I probably would have stayed with the Phantom. Not because he was innocent, but because he needed someone to show him love. I would not marry him unless I saw some significant changes. But if someone had just taken the time to show him love earlier, he would not have killed all those people. He was no doubt a genius. A genius with good influences, becomes a great man. But a genius that knows nothing but hate, becomes a murderer. Just my thoughts.

I've listened to my love emptiness and loneliness and he hurt it me the most in my whole life......I loved him with all my heart. He was the first love of my life. I miss him a lot. The relationship was toxic...I realized after 3 years...I had to run away to keep myself safe and protect my heart. I am praying for him.

] No one would listen No one but her Heard as the outcast hears. Shamed into solitude Shunned by the multitude I learned to listen In my dark, my heart heard music. I longed to teach the world Rise up and reach the world No one would listen I alone could hear the music Then at last, a voice in the gloom Seemed to cry "I hear you; I hear your fears, Your torment and your tears." She saw my loneliness Shared in my emptiness No one would listen No one but her Heard as the outcast hears No one would listen No one but her Heard as the outcast hears

@thatARTISTICguy I understand what you are saying, but he loved Christine long before letting Raul and Christine go. He looked over her since the time she came to the opera house, he tutored her, left her gifts, protected her from the hate and harm her endured at the hands of others. Did you forget that he was cruelly whipped, abused physically, emotionally, mentally, mocked, spit on, laughed at, and publicly humiliated in a human freak circus, and shunned daily. He was labeled as a "devil child" by the circus master that profited from this and abandoned by his own mother because of his physical appearance. Society abused him, mistreated him, shunned him, and treated him like a beast of the wild. Society made him an angry, bitter, outcast and you say he is not to be forgiven because he acted out the way he did. The only love, kindness, and gentleness he was shown was from Madame and Christine, and even Christine's love was of a fickle nature . Now, I ask you how would you feel and be if you endured all the Phantom did? To live a life hiding from the world, living alone and learning to be lonely.😢 No,my empathy is for the Phantom

Sir Webber told himself that he didn't care Butler is not a trained singer. He said what is important in the movie is to convey the feelings in a different way, and the emotions it evokes. Cinema and musical theater are different.

Why did they delete this scene? Now that I know about it, this the story of Phantom shown on the movie doesn't make sense and it's not the full perspective. I feel so disappointed with the movie I have beloved. If he could sing this to Christine instead of being cruel to other people, she would stay with him because they understood eachother. He was the only person who loved her truly and cared for her career, Raoul didn't care if she sings or not, he was acting just like a jealous teenager.
