The Woodland Escape is a channel that portrays living a self-sufficient lifestyle close to the land. It's primary focus is on 17th century history and the skills of the North American pioneers of that era. However, it also provides snapshots of modern tools and techniques and contrasts them with what the pioneers had available. In addition, there are some episodes depicting modern camping, hunting and canoeing expeditions.

❤❤❤
Three of the most charming folks on KZread...you, Ron & Justine.
Mint added to soap, lotions and cleaning liquids will solve your ant problem.
I got to thinking when I saw your ring that rings were traditionally worn on the right hand. The only reason I know that is that my daughter was a Grip for a period film and the wedding ring was on the right hand for the actress as it was true to the history back in the early 1800's. Our family has been extras in several period pieces as we lived close to a village that Hollywood liked to use. It's called, Mumford Museum in Genesee County, New York. I remember having my hair basted with whipped egg whites as that was what used to keep ladies hair in place before hairspray. Well, it was a hot day and the egg whites cooked in my hair so I had little white flakes throughout my head. But, it worked better than hairspray. My hair didn't move all day. Congratulations you two. I wish you many happy years together.
I have been to many of the French fort and trading post sites in Illinois. The country is a lot different today as the swamps and wetlands are much smaller or gone. Then again so is the malaria at least for now. I first went to de Chartes in the early 1970s. The large river system and fertile soil made it desirable to settlers.
Wedding? Where is it? 🤔🌺
The wedding will shown on BelievePlus as a documentary on July 4.
My French ancestors migrated to Manikan Township, VA in 1700. Their name was Reneau, de Renauld in France. The Yankee line that moved into PA changed their name to Reno. I descend from the southern line, RENEAU.
congrats to the wedding couple may it bring joy lots of laughs sad times turn into loving signs from eachother may god bless you "and kept you" safe be happy in everything no fighting with each other if you are just say sorry give hugs and kiss
I always cleaned my black powder with soap and water using the ram rod with a tight fitting patch like a pump with the breech sitting in a plastic bucket full of hot soapy water. I then dried it by the fire place with a good coating of oil on the outside and a patch pushed through the bore.
You adjust the sights to where it is shooting. If it is grouping low, then you lower the front sight. If it is grouping high, then you make the front sight taller. Just the opposite for the rear sight. I have always liked TRU-OIL for gun stock finishes. Easy to put on and repair. Thinned out coats for the first few coats. Wet sanded after several coats with 440 W or Dry.
This is so wonderful...
I really enjoyed this episode it is so Jam Packed with information, I will need to watch it a few times to take it all in. Thank you.
Fabulous video
You need some Prince Albert in a can. That is what my grandfather used in his pipe. Don’t even know if it is still available.
Finding any kind of pipe tobacco is difficult.
They have a great channel! Its great to see so much good content out there on this time period.
Couldn't agree more! They are keeping history alive.
I tried wearing a leather welder's coat for warmth and it wasnt warm at all. It kind if turned .e off to wearing leather
Real fun time watching this😅
He could be your father!
Who taught you to spread the onions out in the canoe??
Great video my friend!
Hey Peter, we live off grid and have a tankless water heater in our cabin. We also have a wilderness camp were we teach and have people stay I built a shower house there, but have to take it out in the winter.. is it the same for you?
Very nice video! It's good to be reminded that history is more than just fighting and bloodshed, but also marriages and children and getting on with life.
Absolutely!
You have Saddlebreds??
They raise a variety of breads and cross breeds.
Wow neat
❤ !
Iv been waiting for this video!!
Thank you for this video. I subscribed to this channel when it was mentioned in Ron and Justine's channel a few years back.
That is awesome, Justine and Ronnie have always promoted our endeavours.
So true what you say about patience and letters. It is a sad condition in South Africa, where the post office no longer functions. I have not had mail delivered for over three years and live in a seaside suburb of Cape Town. Parcels are only delivered by courier and physical letters are in the past. Watch out world, it could happen to you..... Thank you so much for your nicely done videos - very much appreciated. 🙂
I did not have any idea that the postal system was defunct …. How sad is that!
It is so, in amongst the exceedingly high and rising violent crime rate, high unemployment, political instability, weak currency making everything super expensive, what is heartening and good is that people are still happy, friendly and finding time to have fun. 🙂
What a beautiful wedding couple! Wishing them every happiness and long life together. The historical buildings and scenery are beautiful to look at. Thanks for posting.
It was a fabulous experience in all aspects for Cathy and I.
Its so awesome you and your wife got to go down to see Ron and Justin get married I watch them too
We were flattered to be invited and had a great time.
I just lost my husband of 57 wonderful, happy and love filled years. I wish Justine and Ron the same. My husband was also a Ron.
Sorry to hear that, it must be very hard. I too wish Justine and Ronnie a long happy life as you’ve had.
Good Peter & Lady Cathy- I had the pleasure & privilege of attending this wonderful wedding, & making your delightful acquaintance! I've been one of your subscribers ever since Ron & Justine alerted us to your channel. ( I was the lady who initially hailed y'all on the street upon first arrival & pointed you in the right direction to the film crew! ) I have several excellent photos of you at the wedding. Live long & prosper, my fellow travelers! (Mistress Kerri of Making Merry in the red outfit... from NJ.) 😊
I remember you well Kerri and it was our pleasure to meet you.
Peter you need a microphone
Audio is always a difficult thing the master. I’m wearing a mic, but we still struggle with quality.
Welcome to my HomeState of Missouri!
And a fine State indeed!
Beautiful trade knife!
Thank you.
BTW... while watching your video you said Scott Reed and that is my name also...lol
Congrats! Because of you and we live in St. Louis had no idea of the festival. We went yesterday and had a blast. Thank you for your videos and story telling. Keep up the great content. Scott
So cool! I hope to get there next year.
The best co lab between two great 18th century youtube channels
I thank you, glad you enjoyed.
A SUPERB video. So much interesting information. The hour flew by.
Glad you enjoyed it!
FASCINATING stuff. Thanks.
Glad you think so, appreciate your interest.
Congratulations to the both of you on your wedding, Here in Canada we have Fort George in Niagara on the Lake, a historical town, which is beautiful, if it like stepping back in time. It is beautiful, if you ever get a chance to come to Canada do go and see NOTL (Niagara On The Lake) and visit Fort George. We are also known for our wine country. Again Congrats to the both of you and many many happy years to come. Love from Canada
Fort George is a wonderful site as is Fort Erie and across the river Fort Niagara.
Congrats Ron and Justine, I'm sure the wedding was beautiful. All the best to the newly married happy couple, may God bless you both.
It was indeed a fabulous ceremony and we were flattered to have been invited.
Looks like a great place, great trip, and great event. I can’t imagine Cathy’s bread being any better but from a stone oven would be grand. Heading back to Canada this week. Wish me luck at the border. Lol. All the best to the two of you!
Always friendly on our side, lol. Safe journey.
So excited to watch this. Congratulations ❤
I appreciate that, Susan, thanks for your interest.
I went through Barkerville during summer vacation from school back in the day. I never felt so at home when I got there, taking in every small detail and felt such a connection to it's past. I was 11 years old at the time.💜
Thanks for sharing your memory … it’s a grand place indeed!
LOVELY COUPLE and LOVELY COUPLE! How Wonderful to experience the pure 'Joy' of an 'uncomplicated' Wedding! = R A R E !!! Simple is the 'way-to-go! I am sure that many who see this vid will also be longing for this kind of life. Congratulations to Ronnie and Justine. The Emperor and Empress of Canada were a fine representation of Northern charm = WELL DONE Peter and Catherine. Thanks for sharing this journey with us! "A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person." (Mignon McLaughlin). Health n' blessings dear ones! :)
You flatter us, Marie. Although we are a long way apart I believe we’ll remain life long friends. It was a rare opportunity to truly experience an 18th century wedding, I can’t imagine we’ll have too many in the future, lol!
Very well said, and I couldn't agree with you more! :)
Simon was one of the real heroes and diehards
He was hardcore fellow indeed … one would be far better off to have him as a friend rather than an enemy.
What gauge shotgun do you carry? Thanks
12 gauge. I read an article that 20 gauge simple doesn’t have enough energy to bring a grizzly down with a single shot.
@@TheWoodlandEscape ok thanks I didn’t find the audio very clear at that point great videos you put out just up my street
