I am Jasmin, I love nature and the city in 2016 we moved into a houseboat. I am still learning and found lots of information hard to find so I'm hoping some of you will be interested in what we are doing and leaning about!

We used to live on a narrowboat years ago. We had hardly any clothes, because you know the life doesnt lead to much does it. However we both had in suit bags, a funeral outfit and a wedding outfit…….because you never know do you? I mostly wore short denim skirts with bare legs, or leggings or thick tights. I found tights dried the quickest onboard. Enjoy the canal life.

This same clunk happened to another boat turned out the clunk was the breaking of a motor mount which they had welded up . All because of the prop getting tangled up in the prop. Good luck you 2 stay safe. Happy Trails

Two Ropes: So, at Teddington and up to the sourse beyond St Johns we ask for two ropes because of the variety in the river users and in the locks. On the canals you'll have predominantly narrowboats in locks built just wide enough for the boat. So a 6'10" wide boat in a 7'6" wide lock. Whereas on the Thames we see vessels between 3" and 20' wide and from 6' to 120' long. We treat everyone the same and work to the lowest denominator. The locks also vary widely around 120' long to 600'. 16' wide to 23' and with a depth between 2'6" and 9'. Some fill from the gates, others from the bottom and some do both at the same time. Hope that helps ;)

Tim that this Lady learned how to do a back splice or sail makers whipping. The first knot is a round turn and two half hitches, A figure of 8 is a stop knot tied to the end of a rope to pr event it running back through a bulls eye or block.
what an absolutely lovely lady jasmine is. she has one of the happiest pretty faces i have ever seen. beautiful. also she is so enthusiastic about her narrowboat.
I went on a cruise ship with my family in 2017 and when I got off the ship, I had the strangest feeling. Everything seemed to move like the ship. I have described this feeling to my friends in so many ways that I could think of. When this happened, I did not even ask my parents whether they could feel the ground seem to move like a ship beneath them! It is the strangest feeling I've ever experienced and I am so crazy about it! I even made up my own term for this feeling!
