Thanks for the review. Been running with the DS-70 for well over a year now and I'm very happy with it. Was thinking of going to the hikmicro 4K but after talking to the lads at the shooting range today i was informed that PARD now has a 4K variant. Couple of questions. Can the Pard DS Gen 1/2 obtain the 22 zoom with a firmware update? and when recording video footage with the 4k does it display the picture in picture if its being used when recording?
Excellent - no it’s more than software update - don’t think so others didn’t so doubt this will - my video was from a photo attached to eye piece
And no mention of setting the gyroscope?
No maybe in another video - just keeping it to the point and to shooting
@@owlopticsandoutdoors is it critical to do the figure of eight motion, mines 14 to 15 inches low at 25 metres and the Y axis can't reach the point of impact?
If it’s sitting flat and reading 0 degrees leave it Nothing to do with zeroing Talk to who got it from for zeroing advice though
Nice , what's the head torch ?
It’s a armytek wizard WR - has red and white light built in
Thanks Fraser , nice bit of info
Any ideas when the new hand held thermal will arrive ?
@Full_Pack_Adventures very soon, have some units to look at and film just arrive this week but they arrived after we left for field days
@Full_Pack_Adventures very soon - the first ones arrived this week just after we left for field days for me to look at and film
Could’ve gave a comparison between what it looks like through night vision and what it looks like through normal eyes.
On that night nothing Was dark Will do a comparison between technologies sometime soon This video was just about showing then IR illuminators
Hi, thank you for your video. I would like to ask you about the ' field of view '. Is it more or less the same or the 4K has larger / bigger field of view ?! Kind regards, Péter
Basically the same Looked and couldn’t see much diff The 50mm will have a bigger field of view and be 4-16 We will use the 50 on our work rifles
Thank you very much for your reply 😊
What type of IR does it have, LED or vcsel?
For our market in nz it’s vcsel
You don't happen to have any ATN product to compare it to by chance?
No sorry - don’t believe in a lot of comparisons it’s too easy to present one better than another
Yes. There is better image quality in the Night Stalker 4k
Personally I don’t think there’s much in it whatsoever and some stills the 2k looks better but marginal 🤔.
The stills were in high wind too - the video is better - see other video for some. Plus the higher power magnifications which the ds35 can’t do
The higher mag is great it’s just a shame in the UK the IR changed from Vicsel to LED range is greatly reduced
nice video explains the difference between 2K and 4K
Excellent target ID out to 500
any idea on how much recoil it can withstand?
Oh a lot - our ds35 (same thing) has had 350 plus rounds of 338 lapua imp on it and will have a 100mm version of this on it soon as we get one - the 100mm of eye relief make this possible
thanks! got one on the way!
Thankyou!
cheers
The Night Stalker 4k looks good. Thank you for sharing the review
Awesome, I’ve just bought one from you. The two o-rings, what are they for? Doesn’t seem to be any reference to them in the manual.
Are to keep the adaptor tight to the 007 Will be one there already
Brilliant video !!!!!!
what did you end up adjusting the BC to ?
Really only valid for our rifle and setup - velocity, twist etc all have effects
I have the FT34, love it except for 1 thing: no customizable reticles. That alone would add so much more value than a tiny flashlight
In what range you zero your rifle?
100m
Can the lrf be used as a standard lrf without using thermal?
you’ll need to see where it’s being aimed - but it works day or night
I would like to see more footage. The British suppliers haven’t stocked this scope saying there hasn’t been any interest. I see pard a bringing out 4k to the range. Will be interesting. I love my DS35/70
Working on some how too videos shortly - I do use it when sitting and watching and sometimes from a vehicle - yeah we are looking forward to seeing them soon
At 6:21 he's in Ballistic Data, and says "if you wanna get out (unintelligible)" Can anybody tell me what he says there? Lowers voice, must be assuming we know, but navigation in the menus is a real bear for me.
It’s the wifi button which is also the LRF button
At 4:00 he says (mutters, really) something about A and B, evidently two different sets of parameters (?). What's that about? I've played it over and over and can't make it out. Nothing like it in the user manual.
If ya in New Zealand give us a call - I said you need to make sure that the profile you are editing is the right one - ballistics A to zeroing A - pointless zeroing in say B and adjusting the ballistics under A they need to match as that’s how it knows
My Parameters screen doesn't display a "Ballistic Data" profile. It looks just like the pic on p.32 of the User Manual, top line is Velocity. I understand that's a glitch awaiting an update, but I'm curious how the screen in your videos, made a year ago, has the Profile line? My version is 7/17/2023, GK384#QTDGTF0509. I see there is a 3/28/24 update available, but the manual says "Upgrading firmware may cause damage to the equipment" so . . . if that's so, maybe I'm better of living with what I've got?
@topdog250 what country are you in - I can’t give advice on something I can’t fix - not that I think something can go wrong, but I don’t know everything I need to about your scope - so can’t risk it if I can’t simply get the scope myself
How to use optical zoom in pard 007sp?
You use the optical zoom on your rifle scope as normal
I want to use it as a handheld monocular. Don't need the laser range finder. Add thermal instead and I will buy one tomorrow.
The FT32 is the thermal version
@@owlopticsandoutdoors Looking for a combo of optical night vision and thermal. Thermal for spotting and optical scope for ID. For border security application, for example, laser range finder is not needed. It seems like they are only catering to hunters/shooters. For other applications, laser range finder just adds unnecessary weight, size and price. Instead of LRF, I'd rather have 2 IRs (both 940nm and 850nm). That way, 940nm IR can be used for short to medium range discreetly and simply switch to 850nm IR for long range.
@malin7919 watch this space for most of that
Pard ds lrf or 008sp2 lrf?
Sorry missed this - DS for sure - 100mm of eye relief along makes it so nice to use and natural like glass scopes
@@owlopticsandoutdoors on which is better field of vision?
Depends on the model - they different lenses - we don’t have the 008 anymore - ds has circular eye piece as well - specs and figures don’t tell the real story for usability
@@owlopticsandoutdoors web says ds 35 70 59m/1000 m, NV008SP2 80/1000m
Shouldn't a lower bc cause the bullet to drop more?. If a 6.5 creedmore has a bc over .5 it is much more efficient than a .243 win that is going faster at the muzzle but has a lower bc of some where in the low .4's depending on the bullet of course. That's why a 6.5 creedmore stays super sonic longer and is more effective at longer ranges.
Its a factor of both - MV is easy to measure, BC requires either Truing or specialist equipment to get the actual figures - in the video we are talking about truing it at a certain range
Hi there, I bought a PARDTA32-25LRF and love it🙂. I had a Pulsar Axion XM30S before and the PARD knocks spots off it. I have a question on the PARD clip on! As a clip on, can it be used without a retical? Reason I ask is, my scope already has an illuminated reticle.
How is that Pard? Here in the States, there doesnt seem to be a lot of action with them, but I like what Im seeing. How does it handle bigger recoil?
They are brilliant - the thermal and NV combination is awesome - we use ours on this rifle, a 308 and a 6.5 PRC - the ds35 is similar design and sits on our 338 LM
@@owlopticsandoutdoors thank you!
Hey there. I keep getting my trail cameras stolen. Can the trail camera IR be seen by IR hunting scopes.
Yes they can
Super Good !
is it posible to ajuste the eyepiece.I trying to use it as a ragefindre/monokular but when i look tro it its blure
Yes it’s a diopter so turn to focus it while looking at menu
Would you detect a duck, rabbit or a pheasant at +/- 80 yards with such clip on?
Yes - rabbits easy Ducks are quite insulated with their feathers/wings so their feet and head glows more than body Not sure what pheasants look like under thermal, potentially similar to ducks - have them at home but just never looked at them with thermal They will be visible just not bright white like the rabbits
Why does the image not look as clean as clear as other 384x288 sensors? Thanks
Way too many factors to actually properly compare images - they must be done at the same time and place and you can spend a lot of time making them the best you can; focus won’t be perfect and looking at a massive monitor it will show up vs the eye piece - in effect marketing rubbish; - we just film real world as you should
Good video. Thanks
2. What's your oppinion between Pulsar FN455 vs Pard FD1??? Which is better?
Yet to see a pulsar beat a PARD; not personally used one - look at the size of it … plus they use their own battery types which are expensive you don’t want a huge scope hanging off the end of your glass scope
out of size and battery (expensive but very very long time usefull), what about the image quality? @@owlopticsandoutdoors
No have seen lots of pulsar users running back to utes to charge their batteries - all fail in time you can buy a many 18650 for the money and use them in torches and other items as well - a 007 has the best image quality due to how it works - I won’t video compare brands it’s not possible to be objective and too many videos out there are skewed results these days - they are sponsored or given items not exactly impartial … the distributors should take real field videos like we do - things like batteries etc are obvious
1. The sensor that the FD1 has is worse than the NV007sp, but the screen has a better resolution. Will the FD1 support optical magnification of the viewfinder???.
It’s a good scope - just reading pure specs often doesn’t tell the real story - optically zooming on a TV screen isn’t going optically improve the image (any brand) you are looking at pixels - The 007 will use optical zoom of your scope typically out to 14x
"This is the equivalent of needling 5 hands," 😂 Nice simple video
Thank you so much for the answer. Just one more question. Does the pard nv007 change POI that you have seted in the scope? I don't want to zeroing my scope all time when i use the pard.
it stays the same, uses your scopes reticle - it’s a good idea to practice with a few shots too
Hello from Argentina. Thank you so much for the video. I have the pard fd1... i'm disppointed with it. It doesn't retain zero when you take it off and put again. When you zoom with scope the image is horrible.. I wonder if pard nv007 doesn' change zero in your scope. Can you zoom the scope as much you need and getting a clear vision? Thanks in advance
They are very different scopes Any front clip on needs to be done with care and testing - mine works fine for hunting with respect but it’s best bolted to rail for retention - watch my video Zooming is just looking into a TV screen on a front - the 007 allows you to optically zoom from the scope and uses your reticle to aim
Does the insects get attracted by the 850 or 940 ? I know the rats can't see above like 500-600nm so even if there is a visible light with 850 the rats dont see it. I'd search gor other animals like rabits and pigeons.
Not that I know - certainly not experienced it - a white headlamp attracts them though big time - switch to red and they disappear
Anyone know if there's a mount for this device to attach it to a ballistic helmet and use it as hands free
Not that I know of - possible though as there is a mount
would this be difficult with the base magnification of the unit?
Yeah be like wearing binos
Great video , really appreciate the time and effort you put into it! Would you recommend it as a clip on for a 3/4k$ budget ? Thanks
Yes ideally it needs to be mounted to a front rail (as does any front clip on); depends how you hunt - I prefer it as a pure scope and handheld with the QD mounts
So you cant see the I&R light unless youre looking thru the I&R scope?
We can’t see the beam like a white torch light
@@owlopticsandoutdoors Thank you
Just realized the scope has fixed optic magnification. If they placed the NV screen behind the ocular lens, variable optic magnification would have been possible. But I guess this would increase the price a lot, better keep it simple and 4,5-6,0x (before the 2x digital zoom) should be plenty for hunting.
Yeah variable hasn’t made an appearance yet anyway - cost and also I would say complexity to keep the zero which would be the driver there - we have shot 1000 yards with the 5.6x ds35 version
@@owlopticsandoutdoors now I just watched a video on the TD32 on the official Pard channel and it says you can change the optical zoom up to 6.5x in NV and 3x in Thermal imaging (plus the 2x digital zoom for both). Reading their own specs it looks to me it’s fixed magnification just like you said. This might have been a translation error in the script the manufacturers from Asia sent to their American branch, responsible for the KZread channel. Anyway, thanks for the feedback.
Hi, is this 850nm?
Yes would have been
Hey mate. Just wondering if you have tried any of the bushnell Night vision monoculars and how the Pard compares to them. They are around the same price and just trying to work out which one to get
No sorry I haven’t - finding someone who will compare things well is very hard - bushnell people should be showing real video from them - but I can say bushnell isn’t really known for night vision and it will be some rebranded item I would think and not actually made by them. Very little beats a PARD in general for performance or features / price
Can you do a video using the thermal as the primary and do m in for size and clarity?
Yep can do that - working on a thermal vs night vision video
