Something else…I have clinically diagnosed C-PTSD which basically means multiple traumas over a longer period of time, mostly from childhood traumas. I watch those kinds of videos because I can resonate with what they’re saying. I watch your videos regardless of what you’re talking about because you’re a great creator and I enjoy them. I’m also having troubles narrowing down what I want to talk about or film. I will probably get into mental health/illness before too long though because although I do have diagnosed ADHD and C-PTSD, I’m also a psychiatric Registered Nurse. So, lots of experience on the personal and professional side with all that. Good luck! We’ve got this! Looking forward to your next video…sorry this was so long.

Sounds like spin and manipulation to me. The 1835 Declaration was just that. Read it. It declared authority and control over the North by Northern tribes, Then te Tiriti o Waitangi took that back and included "other" tribes (iwi) in a new Treaty with the Crown. The South Island was taken on the Right of Discovery Also in 1840!. This confirmed Capt Cooks same declaration many years before..

Maoridom ceded sovereignty for equality end of story. There was no other way it could be. Read the whole of the treaty and see what it all adds up to. No one clause has precedence in a contract it is part of a whole.

No because they didn’t have sovereignty to cede. They had no structures in place to govern anything, they had occupancy on the basis of colonisation before the latter day colonists. “ No they didn’t end of story” requires qualification to have any merit as a statement.

Bloke for your statement that maori ceded sovereignty is like you telling your neighbour that you have a signed doccument that says you are now owner to his house and you now have governance over his wife snd kids ,and no matter what he has in his yard now belongs to you,,,I'll bet he'll fight you tooth and nail to get that note annulled,,,and just like our tipuna ,,,we continue to fight ,no one who owns any piece of land gives up the freedom of that place without a fight ,,,just giving an entire country away just because someone had a great deal ,,,that doesn't make sense at all,,,,,none

  • @jamescrydeman540

Such a document as the treaty is meaningless when approached by individual clauses. It is same as other contracts in that the various clauses make up a whole . I have struggled so often over the years with union members and employers trying to use an individual clause to represent the whole, this is sometimes done in innocence but often with a more sinister intent. As far as the treaty is concerned Maoridom ceded any sovereignty for equality. The treaty was only ever going to offer that else the latter day colonists would not have come, people who were escaping the old class systems of Europe.

Tio, our Maori document is called Te Tiriti 3 paragraphs long, the pakeha version is called the treaty. So much controversy re: 1840 Treaty, should be scrapped & let's go back to the original document He Whakaputanga 1835 signed by the King.
