Hi! I'm a textile artist, designer, and teacher. I love to dye with Shibori techniques and other diy projects. I teach workshops for indigo tie dye (also known as shibori) and Ice Tie Dye. I love sharing ideas and connecting with fellow dyers and creatives. Dyeing is a fun activity for all skill levels and there are infinite possibilities when it comes to pattern design!

Is the paper wax paper?! Or normal Paper. V helpful video!
What type of fabric did you use?
We just tried a Tulip kit. We were camping so no detergent or washing machine/dryer. We used dish soap 🤷♀️ We did notice some transfer/bleeding when we laid our shirts flat so we rinsed again and hung them on the side mirror of the truck thru the head hole so the front and back were not touching. That seemed to help. We did get some dots of color. We shook well twice. And we filled our bottles all the way. Not sure how to fix that problem. You think using hot water would dissolve the dye better?? How does synthropol work? Maybe next time we should try that to help with the bleeding/transfer. We rinsed FOREVER and it ran clear but after a couple minutes if we rinsed again it would be colorful again. It was our first time ever tie dying.
Круто! Good job👍
Love the colors split of the chocolate brown
Thank you so much! This is very helpful and saved me so much experimenting
Very beautiful! Thank you! 😊
What is "soda ash"?
I tried muck dying like this. I thought I did all the correct steps, but the dye and design seemed to completely wash out when sitting in the melted ice. Any tips?
Hey I want to dye a 100% cotton denim rug made of a bunch of recycled denim sewn together so there's a lot of different blues, I want to dye it into a black colorway and I was wondering if it's possible to dye it and obtain different shades of black? I'm thinking since there's a lot of different shades of blue on this rug I might be able to dye it and obtain different shades of black. Also which products/technic would you use to do it?
You’re supposed to use hot water to put the fabric in snd the wax will float to the top. You skim the wax off the surface of the water so you can reuse the wax.
Am new from Nairobi Kenya
Is really beautiful. I love how each of the lines are unique!
Could I use just beeswax or is it advisable to mix paraffin wax and beeswax?
I’d love to see how the shirt looks when worn, it is so pretty!
How did you stop the paint from staining the shirt while washing it ?
The yellow went all over the shirt and covered the shirt
do you think it would work to brush glue over a stencil? yours looks awesome! one comment, it's best to have another container/towel to wring out your indigo soaked fabric. if you wring it out over the bucket then it makes a lot of bubbles and causes more oxidation in the bucket.
Thank you for making this video. I made a shibori t shirt in my high-school art class years ago and decided to make some shirts etc for my family. I didn't know the exact dye my teacher used so wasn't sure what to buy. I almost bought the Rit indigo dye but after watching your video I knew I would have been disappointed at the turn out.
Thank you for this!

Super pretty!
Teabag paper is great for cyanotypes.
Love this!
Hi --- it looks like you got some dye on your arm there about the size of a thumb. Everything good at the homestead? Thank you for the video and sacrificing your time to help others. God bless you.
How and when do you use the Thiox and the soda ash?
I would love to take a felt marker and draw outlines of flowers and leaves on that! It’s gorgeous!
This was helpful, thank you :)
Beautiful job ❤
No ingredients ...no sound ...I don't understand what you have used ..this is very frustrating
Surprisingly tulip brand has one of the best and brightest blues. Regular “blue” and “royal blue”
I just did this with some white T-shirts my husband didn’t want. I cut them into fairly equal pieces and wrote on one edge with a fabric sharpie. I get to rinse them out tomorrow.
Hon, I have a huge stash of yarn, crochet thread and spools and spools of sewing thread to use up and get some use out of them before I go nuts
I do cyanotypes, mainly of photos I've taken and also for friends etc. I use heavy (160-300gsm) watercolor papers and other heavy paper types that can stand being put in water without ripping or becoming waterlogged. It's a fun way of developing a pic!!!😊😊😊
I am taking your online course now!
Excellent skill demo…..Heads up, starts 3 minutes in !
Liked for the 1st thousand staples ... commented for the 2nd thousand staples ... FTW !!! Question ... - Why do you glue the foam to the seat? Suggestion ... - Cut the foam w/ an electric kitchen knife ($20-$50 depending on your store) ... maybe?
I always wash new clothes before any wax is applied to get the sizing chemicals out. To get the wax out I boil it, skim the wax with a can, then add dawn dish soap. skim. Repeat once again with fresh water usually does it.
Hello, what is the best type of dye for silk?
love finding a whole new method to experiment with, thanks so much!!
Really impressive! You are very talented, and a good teacher. Thanks so much for sharing this. Love the shibori fabric, too.
What fabric? Natural or synthetic will this work for?
Beautiful
Could you put the indigo into a spray bottle, mask everything off and just spray it on?
I like the final product so that is a definite win.
I have used a cup of bleach to 2 1/2 gallons of water two soaks for about eight hours each will get most die out and I have done it to tie-dye projects that have sat in the garage for years and you can get an almost completely whiteT-shirt or tapestry give it a try
What sizes did you get of the dyes? 2oz, 8oz?
So cool 😎!! I started flipping my kids clothes too with ice dye
Love it..... I do batik the traditional Indonesian way with a tool called a "canting" and the traditional batik wax which has a wonderful smell. I learned batik in the 70's growing up in Indonesia. But I'm going to try out your method with the foam brushes.
