Where are the fossil hunting areas? We see the signs but do we have to go by the lakes or in the wilderness nature?
I call it Starved Rock because ever time I go hiking there I get really really hungry!
Southern Illinois is beautiful. I have a newly found appreciation for the numerous and historic state parks of Illinois. Clean and well taken care of. Proud to call Illinois my home state! Thanks for sharing! 🫶🏻 (Shawnee National Park Eclipse viewer ‘17 and ‘24)
A mesmerizing area. As a young boy 55 years ago my Boy Scout troop had camping trips here.
Legends are usually based on real stories

May God bless you guys. Thank you.
This should be done a different way if you have someone ho is a hunter in your family and can teach you you don't need the class if you don't then you must take the class my son saids I'm not taking it because iv hunted with you dad since I was 8 the young people iv seen that have taken the course are as dangerous as all the others no saftey on putting loaded guns into there cars see im very safe why because that's ho I am yes it's a great idea for people that don't have someone to show them but taking over dad's job no that's a overreach
How did I end up here?
👍🏻😎🇺🇸
A few years ago my Sons motorcycle club held a "Blues Cruise" and a bunch of Sheriff's cars showed up to keep an eye on the event. My Grandson was 8 yrs old at the time and while we distracted the deputies he snuck around to the passenger side of one of the Sheriff's patrol cars and put some stick on bullet hole stickers that we had given him all over the passenger door of the car.
But this is my dilema where I live there is no such a thing hire a professional with experience to build a pond or lake...I live in Panama a jungle contry or as you call it 3rd 🌎 county. I am going to start digging a hole in my property just bought a book, I don't care what you guys say.....
Shot out to all of us picker uppers. The park loves us for it. 😊
beautiful ....
WELL DONE KENDALL - my goodness ! People - keep our parks clean!
Is there any truth to the story of a cougar sited in the gillispie and benld area?
Saw my first Badger a few weeks ago. Didn't realize they were even in my area-never seen one in all my years going out into the wilderness. Was driving right outside the little town I live in and saw it's head sticking up. Right on the side of the road. Two weeks later it's hole was covered and flattened , no doubt the farmer whose land it was on probably poisoned it .
I've been inside twice and would still love to go through it again. It's a real treat on the eyes. 😊
Does anyone know how many steps on the stairs?
I am very nervous of taking it i am afraid i will fail and wont get it
I am in support of Illinois House Bill HB3257 sponsored by Illinois House of Representative Robert Rita and Barbara Hernandez. Painted shells for hermit crabs are inhumane, unnecessary and destroy a much-needed natural resource. This type of animal abuse should be illegal, not just in Illinois but worldwide. Thank you.
What a dumb name.
holy crap scary rabbit coming to kill me
What is this? I quit at 5:00
Brilliant! Thanks!
👍
I was driving home at night, on a highway...60mph to 0mph in a split second, totalled my car. Came from the deep ditch without any ⚠️ warning of any kind. Damn things!
Yet another another foreign species that should NEVER have been allowed in the USA. Unfortunately they were allowed in by government morons who NEVER should have been allowed to breathe let alone make important decisions.
Love this place hope it stays like this forever
I'm in Lebanon MO., I can't find any Pond Engineers or consultants. How do you find one. I have just bunch of excavator companies around that say they have put ponds in.
I wonder if that rouge DNR guy is still there that liked to tailgate cars in the park to intimidate them to go over the speed limit and then ticket them. That was a few years back he tried it on me but I don't intimidate. Happened to a few that I knew though.
One of the best state parks by far in northern and north west Illinois. 👍😎
If geese just got up and disappeared, I truly believe no one would care.
Good job keep up the good work.
What a gem of a video
Great story. Thanks for sharing it.
Really? Catering to Spanish before Americans now?
They put this video up a little while back in English.

My wife and I just got back from Starved Rock State Park where we hiked for 3 hours or so. Many Pros and Cons to this park. 1. Lots of people taking advantage of this beautiful area (better than staying home and watching TV) 2. Big ethic diversity of people hiking (we heard many different languages being spoken) 3. Big diversity in age (old & young) and physical fitness (fit to not so fit - but their out hiking !!!!) 4. Easy walking/hiking paths 5. Beautiful scenery (many of these are widespread societal woes) 1. DON'T bring wi-fi speakers when hiking (we saw four individuals doing this) - we don't want to hear your music. 2. DON'T throw garbage (pack it in, pack it out). We were appalled by the many water bottles, etc. in the woods. 3. DON'T take your shirt of men (yes it was 80 degrees today, but have some public decency) 4. DON'T bring alcoholic beverage on your hikes - there's a sign stating "no acholoic beverages" (we saw a few people drinking beers) 1. Whenever there is a trail junction, identify trails and/or put a trail map up 2. Social Trails - There are social paths (unofficial paths). These should be vigorously blocked and not just with small trail sticks saying "not a trail". Use fallen trees and rocks to strongly discourage people from continuing to use them. I am very glad we have such a beautiful state park so close to metro Chicago (just a 90 minute drive for us). But we need to help to keep it clean and enjoyable for everyone.
Good work DNR.
Less danger situation is not hitting an animal but just act properly and moderate in order to avoid any impact to something or someone. Life is life.
Typical liberals change the name of something that doesn't change what it really is garbage.
While your dad may never have been able to take you hunting, it sounds like he provided you with a life that allowed you to have that opportunity today. Obviously he did a great job raising you. Thanks for sharing your story. As someone who also never had a chance to learn to hunt growing up but very much wants to learn, this was a very inspiring story
Sure lets fish them right out of the poo canal south of the untreated water dumped in from the third most populous city in the United States of America. Great idea!
Do you have a Facebook page
American marketing at its finest...
I have to admit, I’m in. I like the name. It’s catchy.
Very into this. Would love to make some fried fish tacos with this
Love this! I've been telling people for years that we need to eat silver carp more! It's a classic move of ours in the states to have a food fish go feral and then hate it simply because it becomes nativized and abundant in our local waters. This is a nice move to reset our attitudes. 👍
Famine here we come.
As someone who kayaks the canal/river often, I see a ton of these fish around. If it keeps them from banging into my boat, I will have no problem eating this fish.
