Against The Grain

Moving from California to Texas with a dream of starting a regenerative farm! We are learning how to do grass fed beef, and meat chickens for now but will expand slowly in the future as we master certain animals.

Thank you for the great video, the only thing that you should rethink about is bacon, you should do more research on how harmful it is, Muslims and Jews don't eat pork for a reason...

2lbs of 75/25 beef is more like 2650 calories. Plus the cheese. You said want to gain muscle weight. From that beef you getting 143g of protein, thats good, but if i were you, i would bump it up to 175-200g of protein. 80/20 would be ~2300 calories, 156g protein. 100gr of cheese has like 25-30g of protein. parmesan has the most, 35g of protein.

I'm 10 days into carnivore, 12 pounds down, and haven't been hungry the last few days. I'm here because i want to know if it's necessary to get a minimum amount of calories a day? Or if it doesn't matter? I've never counted calories before, but if i should be, i need to know... hoping you or someone else addresses this! Thanks:) on to your video!!

All those burnt bits you leave in the pan for next use are carcinogenic. Please wipe off the excess when the pan has heated up. Helps a lot against the smoke too.

It's a lot easier to make a caloric goal once you cut out all the other crap and just eat meat, eggs, and whatever fats you use, even with some dairy. I found I was eating less, but had a greater feeling of satiety. I pretty much always felt satisfied and was still coming in under my daily maintenance calories. And my protein intake was through the roof. Even on a low-carb diet, eating 100g or less of carbs, that's still 400 calories. You can easily replace half that with protein. I easily hit at least 200-220 grams a day of protein a day.

@AgainstTheGrainDiet, My oldest son has a theory of possibly crossbreeding Indonesian Bantengs with Texas Longhorn bulls to develop a beef steer that can easily handle the tropical climates of Southeast Asia. Also, he’s planning on an expedition into the jungles to possibly at scare up any Cambodian Kouprey herds to possibly preserve and rebuild as much of their population just prior letting either a Corriente or possibly a Texas Longhorn bull mate with them. Also, while most ranchers prefer using quarterhorses for the herding of cattle, he’s planning on possibly training Chincoteague Ponies born on Assateague Island off the coast of Virginia for the same purpose; for more information on the Chincoteague Ponies, just scare yourself up a copy of the movie “MISTY” on DVD as well as writing to the chamber of commerce on Chincoteague Island for information about their annual roundup that they call Pony Penning Days each July, and get a copy apiece of the following books by the late author Marguerite Henry: “MISTY OF CHINCOTEAGUE” “SEA-STAR, ORPHAN OF CHINCOTEAGUE”, STORMY, MISTY’S FOAL”, and “MISTY’S TWILIGHT”.

@AgainstThe Grain Diet, Is it possible to crossbreed the Texas Longhorn with Wildebeest? Sure a lot dumb types say that Wildebeests are closer related to the antelope, but actually they’re more like wild oxen. My oldest son feels that it’s possible to crossbreed the Wildebeest with the Texas Longhorn bulls, and quite possibly develop a steer that can easily survive the wilds of lands like the Congo 🇨🇩 🇨🇬, Guyana 🇬🇾, Brazil 🇧🇷, Venezuela 🇻🇪, Ecuador 🇪🇨, Colombia 🇨🇴, Argentina 🇦🇷, Madagascar 🇲🇬, Bhutan 🇧🇹, Mauritius 🇲🇺, and Hawaii.

I am a hard case with low cortisol, and blood sugar fluctuations control me. I spent about 3-4 weeks eating meat and eggs to crowd out carbohydrates.. gradually reducing carbs while getting more diligent on meat and eggs as my basis…and chocolates for normal feeling as I was adapting to the carnivore increase in my diet. Finally started 100% carnivore only. Using electrolytes supplements and am on my fifth day with no carbs.(my first time I ever went 24 hours with no carbs in my life). Able to enjoy doing this while not having to go to work. Napping twice a day…literally eased myself into 100% carnivore diet. Hopefully this info is helpful for people that are hard cases… or work demands make too hard to transition.

Oh man, I am so glad to see this video, just wish it was before now! I’ve had my place about 20 years with a good bit of acreage and a variety of livestock. When my family was still alive (hubby died at 45 daughter was 26) we had gone out pulling tposts for the cost of the posts; A lot of labor, but a lot of payback! Ended up with some fifteen hundred posts. When all but 50 of them were stolen we had nothing to fence with and nowhere near enough cash. To this day, I have been unable to get a fence going and hay has been so expensive, it’s been torture, feeding the animals every day with this much property, especially on my own and disabled now. If I didn’t have to get rid of everything, I’d be building this quicker than you could blink an eye. If I’m not living in cardboard next season, I’m going to do it but I still need to figure out how to attach those to the top of t-posts, to keep my mule in. 🤣 if you figure that one out, lmk. Great work!
