We don’t want growth. We like it the way it is.
Erie is a gem but like most great lakes cities, its suffers from unpredictable weather and highly embedded old world culture that plagues its neighborhoods. I look around the city and see neglect and poverty. This prevents any reconstruction effort or remodeling of existing structures. The same 100 year old homes in the same neighborhoods are still standing inna dilapidated state. You can build new developments around that dilapidation but people wonder why this exists unchanged for decades. Erie has culture, recreational facilities and reasonable housing but it all falls apart if its raining. The lake may soften winter storms but invites rain all summer. Can’t fish, can’t beach, can’t plan a wedding outdoors, wash your car. People have to be ok with that and the environment reflects that and that is what outsiders see.
I visited Erie a few times and I loved it. I’m moving there in 2 weeks!
I’m moving to Erie in a few weeks & I can’t wait to explore all these places!
Good place erie pa
Ty
Don't overlook Syd's restaurant for great lake perch! Erie may not be as big as Cleveland or Pittsburgh, but it's still a good-sized city for the area that measures up to those two cities. Also, nearby northeast PA has beautiful scenery and small towns well worth visiting all year round.
Syd's restaurant, known for their terrific lake perch, is the #6 reason to live in Erie, PA. By the way, are those coke ovens still operational on the lake front?
If anybody noticed from one year on, the detail about "no earthquakes" may be true for Erie County, PA but 65 miles west, near Madison, OH there was a 2.3 tremor today (02 JUN, 2024)!
I’m kind of partial to Watertown, NY because they get even more snow than you do.
I was also born and rasie in erie,pa and I love living here the winters can suck but if you can put up with the winters you'll love it as over road truck driver I been to many places and always nice to be back home in erie
I moved here from NJ in 2019... So much more affordable here. I've traveled to Buffalo, Cleveland, Pittsburg, Detroit, Toledo and several cities in Canada fro the first time in my life all by car. I'm is a very safe area of the east side.... Best thing I ever did.
Erie economy??? Lmao. There are very few good paying jobs here, the manufacturing base has almost completely dried up, but hey if you want to work in a restaurant or a retail store, cmon we have plenty of room!!

Last time I was at the library it was full of all the homeless people sleeping at the all tables and it smelled really awful and did not feel safe at all.
Is this during winter or year round?
@@jamesballard6564 I was there during March and it was very sad
Erie was amazing in the 70s when I was a girl! Best schools in the nation ( elementary, middle and highschool) In South Florida now🌴 when parents moved here in 79. God bless. Erie stays with you. Very special.
Man sure loves the Bayfront lol and the cove
Yeah it is, if you're a Trumper.
🎉🎉🎉
❤❤❤
I'm trapped in this DEMOCRAP . SHITHOLE NOW THAT HOUSING INTEREST RATES ARE 8%
My God ..Biden voters HERE no doubt!!!! Erie just ranked 164 for affordability on the nation out of 203.
.....THE 20 DEMOCRAP GOVERNORS (DEMOCRAT.AGENDA) JUST PLEDGED TO BAN .GAS STOVES AND FURNACES IN HOMES BY 2030., BIDEN/ DEMOCRAT VOTERS ARE IDIOTS.
The Cons FAR outweigh the PROS Bro...............
That tower on that pier was where I tried to propose to my fiancée, after we had dined at Smuggler's Wharf (that place with the vines all over it). However, it was the middle of November, and it was cold as hell! Instead of going up there, we went to the museum where they were doing a presentation about the sunken boats in Erie. After all that fun, we went home and I just popped the question when we got home, hah. Erie is pretty good. It's easy to get tripped up on the doom and gloom, but Erie really is "what if a quite small town was actually a really big city?", and there is definitely an appeal to that.
11) snow snow an more snow
No it’s not 😅😅😅
Come on with all this positive, u have to add the negative. Yes EVERYTHING about the lake is true, but u forgot to mention it causes lake effect snow, brutal winters and horrible springtime because if ice on the lake. Pittsburgh will be 61* Erie will be 42*. Yes u get alot if home for the price but its because people make 30k a yr where most everywhere else is 50k
Did it sell?
Looks expensive
Outside of longer winters all the others aren’t con to me. I’ve been going to Erie for day trips for years now.
Hello there are you available
Hey Joe, What are the safe middle class neighborhoods? Do we have a little Italy in Erie?
Erie is a ghetto slum. Little Italy is now Little Beirut.
Erie more or less has no "Little Italy" anymore. But the area that locals used to refer to as that was generally the area of West 18th Street between Sassafras and Liberty streets. And I'll be completely blunt with you: unless you live in the neighborhood, there is really no reason to go there except for International Bakery during daylight hours. Outside of that, there isn't much to see, and it is not a very safe neighborhood.
Ron DeSantis 👿
I've lived in erie my whole life,I hate it here,it's harder to get a job now than ever before,a lot open positions, but they'll call you schedule an interview and then tell you that they'll call you soon and they never do.
Sounds nice
Ive seen neighborhoods that were beautiful in the 60s & 70s become slums.
Miserable horrible people if I could afford it I would leave and never turn back
Plenty of parking, no traffic jams. Sound like no one lives there or there is nowhere to drive. Lol
Are you on drugs?
