Do Triumph do pannier racks, or even a complete luggage setup for the Speed 400? Why don't reviewers ever include these things? Some of us like to tour - even on a 'smaller' capacity machines.

I'm really torn between the two and there's no place near me that allows test rides so I'd have to make a decision by sitting on a static bike. Nearest Triumph dealer is about 100+ miles away so that's keeping me away from Triumphs in general because of the lack of dealers/service. I just took in a 2019 Honda CB300R on trade for my CB500X (which was too heavy for me) and that lightweight (313 lbs) Honda 300 is a blast to ride, but the suspension/saddle is very stiff on our terrible blacktop roads so it's not an all-day ride bike. I'm hoping the Triumph will bring the same fun riding but with a softer suspension for these rough roads. If you've ever ridden a 300R I'd appreciate your comparison.

I couldn't be bothered with gears, so just did my cbt on a Scooter. Have my first Scooter now, Is fun. The lass with me doing here Cbt failed first time cause she couldn't get hang of the gears. Imo, less things to think about on a bike the better. But I suppose gears become natural. I may get an Electric motorbike in time though. How did you get this as a first bike? Did you do a CBT and then a DAS? Thanks.

I’ve had one since Jan ‘21 and it still is quite simply the best bike I’ve had. Still smooth and still has the same power characteristics. One big grin! And I have had 3, yes, 3 new front wheels because they seem to be prone when hitting potholes to bend the rim edges over. Not so tough. I’m guessing it’s to keep weight down. Bummer. Still the best though.

Good idea before you start riding is to buy a car and learn to drive for a couple years.. You learn how to behave on the road and what is to be expected in various scenarios... Then when you get a bike it's not that scary and intimidating. I got my first bike when I was a Driver for almost 10 years. Once I got the basics of riding a bike the road wasn't that scary :)

I’ve ridden for 10 years total in life, but I only recently started riding again after a decade long break. When I rode my bike home from the dealer a couple of weeks ago , I couldn’t find neutral , then I started to panic cause I felt like a noob again - then I stalled the bike 😂! After a few more stalls at stoplights on the way home , my muscle memory came back. Watching KZread videos helped a ton too - how to clutch , blip, throttle control again. I didn’t check how this video was, but congrats on the bike! Solid first bike choice, too.

In about 1984 I bought my first bike. It was a Yamaha RS100. The ride home from the dealer was about 4 miles. It was raining though. Half way home I suddenly saw a van in front of me. I braked. Too hard, And I came off the bike. I wasn't going too fast at the time, probably 20 mph or less. The bike and me, skidded along the floor and stopped almost underneath the van which has stopped. I looked up and realised it was a police van. They gave me some friendly advice and then I was on my way and made it home ok. I never came off again apart from once when I was messing about off road. I later upgraded to a Kawasaki GPZ305 which has a belt drive. And then my third bike was a Kawasaki ZZR600 which was beautiful. Yes, that first ride home is nerve wracking.

Great review, thanks and I've watched many reviews on these bikes, so test rode a red speed and red Scrambler today, wow what a thumper, thats one busy buzzy lively engine, both models exhausts sound fantastic. Taken the plunge and ordered a black Speed, reasons are.. I can flat foot it, its 10kg lighter and more manoverable which is handy at my age, takes up less space in the garage, height and width. I'm 5ft 8". Dont get me wrong the Scrambler is a smashing looking bike and lots roomier, just a bit tall for me. So the Speed came out tops, luckily picking it up next week.🙂 what I did notice was 2 second hand scramblers in the showroom but no Speeds 🤔 Personally my heart went with the Scrambler mainly due to ascetics but my head went with the Speed, I would advise test ride both and ask for at least 3 hours for each bike.
