If you notice, the grill and the windshield frame are not brass in this scene. This was just a non running prop car used in the water scene. Its not the real car they drive around in.

As many people have said on here Ken was an absolute genius and legend of comedy and Dickie Mint the best ventriloquist act ever. Ken had it all comedy, story telling, ventroquist excellent singer. Amazing ability to remember hours of comedy material in his legendary long shows. So loyal to Merseyside and proud of his heritage having lived there all of his life. So fitting that he lived in a place called Knotty Ash.
