Kazama says that as a child, he was bullied by other Oni. And he says as a child, other oni even attacked him many times and so many times he was about to die that he can't recall the number. I'm not sure about being bullied part. But it seems like many oni wanted him to be dead. Probably by Onis from other clans or by Onis from his own clan. That means just like how humans fight each other, then Oni people fight each other too and are not that much better than humans like he keeps saying to Chizuru. Maybe they are more peaceful compared with humans, but they still fight and kill each other (probably for greed), too. Maybe the Kazama clan and Yase village didn't protect the Yukimura village for a similar reason. Maybe they were not allies with the Yukimura village. This makes me wonder if Kazama was telling lies to Chizuru or if he was over praising the Oni people. This also makes me imagine Chizuru's life after she moves to the Kazama village with Kazama. Maybe after she gets married to Kazama, her life or the life of her child is threatened by other Oni people many times.

Even though I love Souji the most, I have to admit that Hijikata x Chizuru always hits different. Their chemistry are the best. I think they're made for each other. If they're a real person alive, I think Chizuru will only choose Hijikata for her love. But after Hijikata, I think the second best to be Chizuru's lover is Souji. They have nice chemistry too and they look good together. Hijikata and Souji are my two fav in Hakuouki 💜💚 and I love their bond as brothers too (at least for me they look like brothers) 🥰
