Very Nice review. My take on the city beams yes the seats aren't brilliant, the livery is ok maybe could be better although one big drawback is the lack of toilets. As for as you say the 376s being disgusting well the bad news is they won't be going anywhere from Southeastern except for finally get its refurbishment and getting rid of that outdated, bland, boring Southeastern livery that dates back to when they started nearly 20 years ago. 465s and 466s yes they will be gone eventually but still looking at 4 to 5 years away depending how long the procurement process takes which potentially could be BEMUs.
There’s something about steam locomotives - they seem almost alive!
I would much rather a 465 to this
