    So the plumbing comes up to the drain but the ball valve is also curved up. How did you connect them in such a small space?

  • @kellyo1964
    @kellyo19642 жыл бұрын

    You don't connect anything, It's only a to cover your floor drain, replacing the cast iron one. The ball keeps gases can not escape . but if any water goes down the drain the ball will rise and the water goes down the drain. Does this answer your question ? I'm not sure what you meant.

    Where does the water go when it enters this drain? Does it just collect under the concrete or is there a open sewer pipe you dont show in the video? I get the concept of the ball valve but not where it goes from there. Does it just continuously erode the soil under the concrete until the concrete collapses? Just trying to wrap my head around this... thanks

    There is a main drain in the sewer line that goes out to the city drain under ground

    The original drain was 4 inches in diameter the drain you installed reduced the flow considerably, what happens when this drain is called on to take in a large volume of water like a burst pipe or water heater?

    Did I miss something you have a Loop with a ball in it, When the water gets in the loop the ball floats is there a hole in the bottom to let the water flow down to the drain? How does the water get into the drain?

  • @kellyo1964
    @kellyo19646 жыл бұрын

    when the water enters the drain . The water pushes the ball up. the purpose of the ball is to stop the gases .

    If it is to stop radon Gas I can seen it but does it not eliminate the Drain function It a 180 Degree trap fitting with a ball. The ball seals off the one end, in the case of a liquid, the water if in the drain from a ruptured hot water tank will go into the trap fill the fitting and if there is no hole in the bottom defeats the purpose of the drain. If it is to eliminate radon a gas it will not work assuming the radon is coming from the drain. it will still get in the basement. And any water getting in will cause it to stop functioning as a drain unless a hole is drilled in the bottom which make it useless for the gas (Radon ) In all cases. What am I missing?

  • @kellyo1964
    @kellyo19646 жыл бұрын

    when water enters the drain the ball floats up , letting water through. Than stays sealed . as you can see around the 1:17 mark of the video

    There is an old floor drain (similar looking to the one in your video) in my house and I'm pretty sure there's no P Trap or anything preventing the sewer gases from coming back through. Would this work for that?

  • @kellyo1964
    @kellyo19646 жыл бұрын

    I'm not completely sure , but if you have a drain I would imagine the "P trap "would put under the basement pad when house was built. You should verify with a certified plumber . As for myself , I do not smell any sewer gases

    Just got the Drainjer yesterday but my issue is I have my washer hose and furnace condensation pipe going to the floor drain I'm not entirely sure if it's a good idea to do this with the dranjer..

  • @kellyo1964
    @kellyo19646 жыл бұрын

    I would think it would be fine, as long as the drain hole isn't completely sealed or if your using a hose , It's not pushing up the stop ball . I would contact the company who makes this product and ask them .

    What mortar/cement did you use? I did something similar and used just standard Quikrete concrete mix and I ended up with a very gritty, pebbly surface, nothing like the smooth one you got. I'm thinking about breaking it out and doing it again since it wasn't very hard.

  • @kellyo1964

    +Bubble King's Videos I can't recall , but it was just a basic Cement Mortar. It had no pebbles or anything course in it . Like you use for fire places .

    Don't you need to apply a grate over the top of this thing? Seems like it would break if someone stepped on it.

    +Bubble King's Videos . The old metal drain cover ring was easy to remove. just used a small pry bar and it came loose. and didn't really have to chisel the concrete.

    I see you cementing the ring into place, however do not see you putting the J-N6 into the floor. And when I look at the design of the J-N6 I see a place for water to flow into the drain and down into a curved pipe, the upside of which has a ball in it that I think will only allow water to flow past it and stop flow of gas in the opposite direction. I do not see you attaching this to the drain in the floor which appears to me to be the most difficult part of the project. Please explain. Thanks.

  • @kellyo1964
    @kellyo19649 жыл бұрын

    You don't need to attach to the drain. the J-N6 just get placed into the o-ring, so only water will go down into the drain , but the ball in the unit covers the drain hole so gas / sewer smell can not escape back up. Simple design, hopefully that answered your question. Took me about 1 hour to fully install
