I switched from the Clifton 9 to the Bondi 8 because the outsole wore way too quickly on the Cliftons, which for the price was disappointing. I prefer the Cliftons for running but the difference is fairly negligible. I went with a pair of Brooks Hyperion Tempos for interval and speed work, and all they’ve done is remind me why I run in Hokas. Heel bruising and minor muscle issues have made me regret going back to Brooks - Hokas just seem to be made for me (I haven’t been this injury free since I was a kid).

I agree with you that the Superblast 2 is not necessarily needed if you already have the Novablast 4 and many other shoes. I have almost 15 pairs of running shoes, so I don’t need a Swiss army knife that can do a little bit of everything, because I already have specific shoes for specific runs. I had the Superblast 1, with which I ran 1200 km, but it quickly became just an easy run shoe alongside the Novablast, since I almost always choose an old carbon-plated race shoe for tempo sessions. The Superblast 1 was the best shoe for traveling, though. I try to run at marathon pace or faster, or easy recovery runs, so I don’t need shoes that are a jack of all trades but master of none for steady runs a bit slower than marathon pace.

I owned a pair of Cloud 5. Super light, super comfortable. I only used them for walking (a bad knee) . They lasted 6 months, around 250 km. developing a hole right above my right big toe. I put a clear gear tape to make these shoes last a little longer. 😊Then, another hole developed on the side by my left pinky toe from scrapping against the car while getting in and out. These shoes were the least durable shoes I have ever owned.
