Turkish living in Belgian here (also a linguist!) The first time I heard a Northern Irish farmer use the words such as cow or calf - calves, I was absolutely amazed! Great videos, many thanks!

Some of my favorite sounds come from wind chimes 2:11 . People seem to confuse the words: went & gone , when speaking

A polyglot friend of once said to me (as I was trying to speak/learn another language) “It’s quite obvious that you’re an American English speaker, because you pronounce your ‘Rs’ way to hardly/harshly. You’d be better off if you dropped the ‘R’ sound all together.” Somehow I found that slightly offensive

I’m trying to learn an Irish accent to be able to play a dnd character, and these videos are honestly so helpful. I’ve been watching the Derry girls videos and these to be able to prepare, but it’s surprisingly difficult! The diphthong and the rhotic ‘r’ hard to master, but I’m trying my best! Thank you for these videos (I’m watching these from the USA)

A feature in my view, because I know someone from there, the speaking pitch is a bit lower than in RP, as a Spaniard it is closer to the pitch we would use when we speak. RP's pitch is more fluctuating, perhaps higher and from a different part of the mouth. In Scotland, I noticed the pitch drops a bit too, so I wonder, has anyone else in such areas noticed it?

See, its this, not so much the accent but the vocabulary. As a native English speaker, I get a bit confused with a friend I've recently started chilling with with a Northern accent. If you just had a long video explaining words like this, that'd be great

Ok here's one for you: Rebuke or Judgement. First a confessing Believer or Christian says to another person whom they know is a Believer of Jesus or a Christian that "Your God does not exist!" Your going to Rebuke them... Because it is sin or blasphemy. Even if they were angry. I would think you would be looking down on them for making a statement as such? Comments?

I had to look up what a Fenian was :) I also remember I think Dierdre calling someone "fly" I think? I assume it meant unreliable or flighty? Very different than what "fly" means in some cultures in the US, which is that you are cool and have great style as in the Offspring's song "Pretty Fly for a White Guy"
