  Trippy the area where McGee blends into Crowley my Dad, brother and me walked that one a few THOUGH in the 60`s it seemed more mythic.

  Umm...Van Nuys airport is less than 1500 YARDS to your north, placing you LESS THAN A MILE from the end of the TAKEOFF RUNWAY! This means one thing and one thing only...you CRAZY, Coach Bob!! ...Cray! Zee! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯(...Surprised your Phantom 4 allowed you to takeoff at all from this location.) Wow!

  At home I get a red circle around the airport so I can not fly within the red zone. At Lake Balboa I did not get the red circle so I assumed I could fly. Also closer to the airport than I was is a RC air plane designated air field which they fly every day as long as you don't fly over 300 feet high.

  Coach Bob Didn't know about the designated field. As you probably are aware, per the FAA, you must notify the control tower to fly within 5 miles and Van Nuys, specifically, has denied permission when I have notified in the past. Frankly, I'm glad to see someone operating so close with no problem. Thanks for letting me know. Best of luck to you and happy flying!
