Thank you so much! These are excellent tips! I like the idea of a phone strap, so I plan to look into that. Also, I appreciated your last tip. There are so many videos out there about how to 'not look like a tourist'. While it is wise not to draw attention to yourself, the locals always know you are a tourist! (I live in a tourist area in the U.S. and it is easy to spot tourists.) That said, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being a tourist! As you said, be respectful of local norms, be polite, and do not worry about being recognized as a tourist. 😊

I am a long time tour guide I just did a city tour for a group of high school students. I left them at the airport because they're on their way to Europe. I asked them if they knew anything about the Euro to dollar equivalence or the weather at their destination. Absolutely clueless! You videos should be required viewing as soon as they book the trip.

Most European metros were built before lifts were invented, it is very common that you go in and out the metros (subways) by stairs, do not expect ramps as those metros were built in densely populated cities (ie no land for ramps).

Terrific video. Very informative. As a male, I find that many of the how to pack videos are not geared to men. However this contained good info regardless of gender. For instance the tip about an extra bag for souvenirs was something that I never thought of quite frankly but is a sound piece of advice. Last year on a trip to the UK my wife and I were stuffing things into our luggage with great difficulty. The spare bag as you suggest would have been a big help. Again kudos for another great video and please keep them coming.

You're using totally old pictures - f.e. at 11:58 - the whole building of the National Museum has been renovated, inside and outside, and it looks marvellous... It has been reopened in 2018, so your pictures are at least 6 years old.. And to your comment about Wenceslas square not being worth a visit, well, the bottom part has been fully renovated in 2022 - made pedestrian zone only, cars were forbidden, more trees planted, sidewalks expanded over the whole part etc... So it definitely IS worth a visit, as it looks completely different... The upper part of the square awaits the same, starting on the 29th of June 2024 and lasting for 3 years, as there will be a new tram line added.. And there are many more really old pictures showing the state of affairs many many years ago... So please, next time, pay attention when making such videos.....

I was in my early 20’s, before I learned to travel, with my then 3 YO child, and 60’s mother, dripping with real TCO jewelry, unattended handbags, and luggage bags galore. In other words, the easiest victim to scam - only I wasn’t. Be it dumb luck, a watchful, and divine eye, or the sheer pity that any would be crook had on us, we had a pleasant and safe trip. In those days, the sport of choice was futbol, followed closely by ranting against Albanian immigrants…

My wife and I visited London from Australia last November. Neither of us had been in the UK before. We stayed a week in West Kensington. As you said, it was a small apartment in an older style building. It had no elevator and we had to walk up and down 3 flights of very steep stairs. Considering we are both in our 50's, we found this a bit much, especially since we went out every day and sometimes multiple times per day. The place we stayed in, while a bit old and shabby, at least had a small kitchen so we saved a lot on take out and restaurant meals, and it was only about a hundred or so yards to the Tube station, which was handy. We found the Tube set up a little daunting at first, but we talked to a lovely young lady working at the Earl's Court station, and she pointed us in the right direction and suggested we get a weekly ticket that covered the first 3 zones. That cost us £40 each, which we thought was pretty good. We both loved our time in London and will definitely be going back.

Many thanks for this video (and the Amsterdam Travel Tips for First Timers video), it was instrumental in my holiday planning! Especially: the rijksmuseum grounds, floating flower market, beginhof, albert cuyp market, vondelpark and travel/booking tips. A few things I'll mention in case they save anyone else time: ndsm/art museum was completely empty when we went, zero art (aside from the anne frank picture outside) so the ferry to NDSM Werf was a complete waste of time for us. The free rooftop views suggested: the Nemo Science museum and Library, were in my opinion a waste of time, we spent hours going to central station, walking to these places and going up to the roofs, only to find the views were massively underwhelming. The view from the library is blocked by concrete and a glass panel, and the whilst the nemo roof is not obscured, you're so far out from central amsterdam there's nothing really viewable, except i suppose the roof of the old church - from a distance. Also, you suggest trying the different fried snacks, but hunting around for them in amsterdam seems like a lost cause, aside from the chips it's next to impossible to find these things. I looked every place we walked past. Even in the albert cuyp market, aside from stroopwaffles and herring and chicken, it's just falafel, falafel, falafel everywhere. Also special thanks for the map, it was very useful, especially with the ability to toggle the layers of what to show!
