Knife Making and Forging
Hello and Welcome to my Hobby
I started learning knife making and blacksmithing in 2022 and I'm still learning. I created this channel to share my progress and some of my creations. Everything here was made in my garage workshop. I hope you find some inspiration in my videos.
My profile picture is a sculpture of a Thunderbird (I also like to make sculptures 😎). I made it from aluminum, brass, and copper. I used vitreous enamel on the copper for color.
Thanks for Watching!

Beautiful
Thank you
Nice work! Looks really sharp.
Thanks!
Unbelievable. Great job!
Thanks!
Really beautiful end product: I love the idea and look of this copper damascus. My favorite part was that sweet alignment. Excellent job, sir! I really enjoy how you make this look so relaxed and easy but the forethought and planning for this is so apparent by the end.
Thank you very much, I did spend quite a few hours working on this knife, sometimes challenging to get all of that across in the video, so it's nice that you saw it!
Very nice
Thank You!
It looks really cool, but didn't you effectively made a bimetallic surface which bends when it gets hotter?
Interesting question, the copper is brazed to the steel at close to the melting point of copper, I actually melted some of it out during the forging step, the knife was later hardened by quenching in oil from 1500F, there was never any noticeable bending. The copper is symmetrical around the steel core of the knife, could be that the symmetry of the construction acts to balance the forces and minimize bending when heated.
It is very pretty! I love the handle choice.
Thanks!
That’s a phenomenal piece of work.
Thanks!
I like your work , I also make knives from old leafsprings and saw blades etc. Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦.
Thank you and greetings from Texas!
NICE WORK... 👍
Thanks brother!
It looks like an Argentinian Creole verijero knife
I’m not familiar with that one
The knife looks cool 👏👏
Thanks for the compliment!
That end product is just wow, you’re a professional in my book
Thanks Mason!
Beautiful

👍
Hells yeah brother I wanna do this one day!
Give it a shot man, it's very satisfying, making things!
World War 2 jeep willys leaf spring ?
Possibly, it came from my deer lease and we've had several old Willy's jeeps out there over the years.
@@artmetalscience66 i recognice it from slooping form at the edge, very famous material for blade in here ,indonesia, very sharp, i have one
@@agungh1670 That's cool that you recognize it, yes it does make a good knife blade.
Looks great! I want to make a knife myself with a full flat grind like that one. But i don't know how to grind even bevels.
It's something that takes a lot of practice (for me anyways), you could try using a bevel grinding jig also, that can make it easier. Make sure you start with a flat blade and get a good centerline mark for reference before you start grinding the bevels. Thanks for watching!
Awesome knife bro from Thailand
Thank You!
Beautiful
Thank you
Clever
Really creative and precise work.
Thank you very much!
Impresionante, tanto por el resultado cómo por la tenacidad. El truco del café solo vale para el damasco o también para el resto?
Gracias, el grabado en café hace que el acero 1084 tenga un color negro más oscuro.
This is awesome!
Hey glad you liked it!
How long did this take?
Not that long, couple of hours.
I also want to make a kiridashi, but very different from this one. A very simple, light and small one (at home I always use a knife holding it by the blade, to have more precision, I recently made a cover for the mora blade, very excellent, leaving just the tip out, it looked like a tiny mora, but it It's still big and spacious and made of carbon steel, maybe my kiridashi is too, but I wouldn't mind letting it oxidize a little). Yours looks really cool, it seems very resistant and reliable, just like the kaiken knife, your videos are great, I think it's only a matter of time before your channel explodes, it's one of the best forging channels I've ever seen, I've already subscribed. Thanks for the videos
Thanks for the sub, and good luck with your kiridashi! Making a good knife is harder than I thought it would be, I just keep practicing and learning as I go.
What is that thing called you used on the knife when belt sanding
It's a plunge line jig, also known as a file guide, I made it.
If my internet wasn't so bad and I didn't have to sleep, I would watch the video. looks cool and cheap. I came for the habaki shorts, but I don't like welding, anyway, it looks really cool, and it still looks very cheap, I'm not in the mood to buy leather, so a wooden sheath is a great option (I've never even seen a kydex other than the s sheaths holsters already made, and I don't want to use PVC)
I'll take that as a compliment, thanks.
It’s inspiring to watch you make something out of nothing
Great to hear that, thanks
Beautiful work,
Thank you very much!
That turned out great! I like watching your process with commentary good work, brother!
Thanks!
Wicked! However, Major Rex Applegate was of the opinion that the flash of a bright blade added to the psychological impact.
I imagine it would, thanks.
I’d buy that !🔥🤙🏻
Thanks man, I really appreciate that!
Wow excelente, muy bonito tu cuchillo, saludos desde Colombia.
Hola, muchas gracias señor!
Sweet!!!!! if only it was that easy and fast in real life! lol great work! Especially by hand!!!! RESPECT 🫡
Thanks, yeah it was more like several weeks of working on it a little bit at a time.
THAT IS ONE GORGEOUS KNIFE. KEEP IT UP 💯
Thanks!
Cool build!
Thanks!
That turned out really great. I’ve done one blade with a Hamon getting ready to try the second one! Was that just powdered abrasives that you mixed into a paste for polishing? I had quite the trial and error on my first one. Yours turned out really great! 👊
Yes it was 1500 grit silica carbide powder, an I mixed 3 in 1 oil with it, or sometimes mix wd40 with it to polish, think I like the wd40 better
That’s amazing!! Keep on building your craft sir.
Hey Kevin, thanks
This build turned out great!
Thank you!
Really awesome video. I thoroughly enjoyed the style of your video. And entertaining! Great work brother!!!!
Hey thanks man!
You’ve made some unbelievable progress in your craft, can’t wait to see how you top this one!
