Great to see the complete setup from Comms to activation of the siren. The detail is next level. 😊

🇬🇧, 😬 - how realistic that small/miniature replica 3D printed “British” air-raid/civil-defence siren sounded to its full-sized vintage/war-relic equivalent, the uniqueness of the siren being the duel-tone pneumatic/air-chopping type? I like to think that, like the French ~ if the UK had kept its siren network after the Cold War, it would be more effective “alarm” system than the government emergency message now mass-sent to our smartphones - with those you can choose to “ignore” them, but with a siren sounding the “alert” outside, you are certainly not going to ignore it 😨 and unlock phone, turn on the telly/radio to hear the warning and take the appropriate action

I think of the worst aspect of this sound is the wind down. People always talk in comments about how the sound of an air raid siren can invoke feelings of fear even in people who have never experienced them for real, simply because we know the association of what the sound means. But for me, that wind down, the slowly fading away sound, is the most powerful part of it. Because I imagine the families in the war slowly starting to emerge from their bunkers, unsure of what the damage was and what pieces have been left for them to pick up.

I remember I was in Kentucky on the second Tuesday of the month around 10am that’s when they do their tornado drills and that siren came on and ironically no one was near and I was driving trucks at the time so I was looking around to find a place to hide but also looking at the sky because it was raining but not really bad and it didn’t look like a tornado was coming then no one was running so I just crawled in the back of my truck and said if I’m going down I’m going down in comfort 🤣🤣 and that’s when the guy finally came back out to start unloading my truck and he told me it was just a drill and they do them every month on the second Tuesday at 10am so since then I refuse to go to Kentucky on the second Tuesday of the month🤣🤣🤣 scared the crap outta me
