This makes me wish that the game characters had more development moments like this, I don't remember there being much of this type of thing, and it would've been really interesting to explore how the virus affected everyone emotionally, even though they all made it out alive, they still were scarred.

Yeah, like why sonic acts like nothing happened sometimes, like the zeti basically were just sent home without anything to check on them. And the animosity espio and shadow had for sonic naivety dissipated, like I get let tinker do something good with his life, but did no one really thought of leaving someone competent to check on the situation?

Hate to change the subject, but here's an idea for a follow up 5 issue story arc/ miniseries from issue 64 and 67's stories featuring the Diamond Cutters and having Lanolin as the central character, the arc called ''Shattered Diamonds". Shattered Diamonds, Issue 1: Cracks Why were the pirates in Blaze's world gone in the idw annual story guardians? the remaining Pirates, led by Johnny, had escaped to hide in sonic's world, looking for revenge on the Hedgehog and for Dr Eggman. running into Clutch, who explains his plot, Johnny offers to arrange the fall of the Diamond Cutters in exchange for technology he collected to defeat Sonic, to which Clutch agrees to. meanwhile, the tensions from issue 64 are still on as Lanolin has been trying to keep things in order, putting pressure on her fellow Diamond Cutters, Tangle feeling pressured but feeling unable to speak, and although Lanolin allows Whisper to keep an eye on Surge and Kit, she advices her not to harass them, like with what she though she and Silver did with Duo the other day, and although Whisper asserts that she WASN'T trying to harass her and that she HAD things under control before Silver acted up and Lanolin misunderstood, she is feeling guilty, not only for enabling what she now thought was an innocent live get hurt, but also for turning her back on Silver after she believed him. All the while, DUO has been gaslighting Lanolin and putting the wool over her eyes with complements and being what she wants him to be and playing on her sympathy. Johnny gets into contact with Mimic, Surge and Kit after Clutch has his requested weapon built and discusses a plan to tear apart the Diamond Cutters and destroy them. continued in reply

Whisper sees what she thinks is the REAL Surge dismantling the defence controls, they fight, Mimic escapes and Surge confronts Surge over it a little later, with Lanolin, and Tangle reluctantly, confirming their alibi, making Whisper look even MORE foolish. After tensions flare between Whisper and Lanolin over weather the former is actually thinking straight, the latter even bringing up her previous mistakes like leaving the restoration, engaging with Surge in issue 53, enabling Surge to get her wisps and become more powerful and the events of issue 64, unintentionally angering Whisper more and Surge gets under Whisper's skin by making her thing she was pulling out a gun, thus getting Whisper to point her wispon at her and look even more paranoid when proven wrong, Lanolin decides to ban Whisper, seeing her as a liability and feeling that her time as a guardian angel was not out of care for others but for the desire to erase her own failure. after a unanimous vote, Tangle reluctantly not supporting Whisper due to peer pressure from Lanolin, Jewel, who had arrived to check on the aftermath of the attack, managed to convince Lanolin not to PERMANTLY ban her and simply sent her for emotional treatment at the clinic, to which Lanolin understands and agrees. meanwhile, Johnny and Clutch are having a chat over how the plan worked better than the former hoped, as Surge and Kit pulling the fake-out was their OWN doing, and how everything is going according to plan. continued in reply...

Shattered Diamonds, Issue 3: Pieces Lanolin becomes more faithful in her own judgement and puts even more pressure on Tangle, with Surge, Kit and Mimic getting on her good side, with Tangle feeling guilty for not supporting Whisper. though Lanolin feels SOME guilt, she brushes it off, feeling that her duty is more important, though it drives a wedge between her and Tangle, distancing them from each other. All the While, other restoration members like Sonic, Blaze and Amy call her out for her own flaws and try to make her realise that she should do the RIGHT thing, not just on the line of duty, and that two separate paths can lead to the same outcome but she is stubborn but reluctant to believe them. Whisper, who Duo is with right now, ready to take revenge on her, feels betrayed by Tangle and starts to doubt herself and feels like a liability. After writing a letter of resignation and considering leaving, she hesitates and her subconscious speaks to her in the form of hallucination of her fallen Diamond cutters, who encourage her not to give in to doubt and despair, to persist in the face of doubt and try to make peace. remembering that she did a similar thing to Silver, and deciding to confront her doubts, she decides to see him, and vice-versa, and at the right time as Duo was about to make his move. She explains to him what happened, and, although Silver admits he made a mistake with how he handled trying to expose Mimic, SHE should've supported him through and through, and he feels somewhat betrayed by her as he looked up to her as the Guardian Angel but now sees her as a 'Diamond'. Whisper protests, saying that it wasn't that she didn't trust him, it's that she didn't want him in any more trouble. Silver acknowledges that but says it doesn't change that she hurt him by not defending him in issue 64. Tangle, having been listening on Whisper's com link trying to get into contact with her, and realises she did the same thing, and feels even MORE guilty. meanwhile, Surge and Kit gets into contact with Johnny and the latter says that now that Lanolin is without Tangle and Whisper, it's time to attack, and this time for REAL, as he puts on his super sonic suit to destroy Sonic, as when they start the attack and Lanolin comes to defend, he'll allow her to send a destress call to Sonic before Surge and Kit take her by surprise and Sonic comes to Johnny, so he can destroy him and Clutch will take advantage of the carnage for his hostile takeover. continued in reply...

Shattered Diamonds, Issue 4: Shards Feeling guilty, and realising that she made a mistake for not supporting Silver, and on Sonic's advice when she visits him, Whisper decides to look into his claims about Duo again. Tangle comes back and apologises to Whisper for sticking up for her. Whisper, realising she did a similar thing to Silver and recognising why Tangle did what she did, forgives her, and Tangle agrees to help Whisper. Whisper is initially thrown off by Duo getting hurt, until Tangle, after calling the Chaotix for advice, figures that maybe Mimic has changed and that maybe Whisper's been going with what she KNEW about Mimic, recalling that Whisper didn't know Mimic could alter clothes to make it look damaged and was caught off guard, considering that Whisper herself had changed after the tragedy, and hurt himself because he KNEW Whisper would doubt herself. Whisper also notices how much Duo is similar to her old friend, Slinger the Ocelot, and that it is a tiny tell of Duo being Mimic, and also considers that maybe it was Duo disguised as Surge she caught dismantling the defence controls and that she didn't make a mistake, she was set up. as Johnny and the pirates start their attack, Johnny having the upper hand on Lanolin due to the Sheep's overthinking, and Surge and Kit are about to make their move on Lanolin when her back is turned after she makes that Distress call, Whisper and Tangle arrive just in time to save her and Whisper explains what she has figured out. Lanolin gets annoyed with disbelief, understandably due to last time, but Whisper remains firm and Tangle finally speaks up and explains that Lanolin is the root of the problem, with her pressuring, unintentional gaslighting and inability to trust her heart and listen to her friends, and that she believes in Whisper because she's her friend and she actually experienced and that "so what if she makes rash choices, she ALWAYS knows what she's doing". Lanolin stubbornly refuses to accept her own mistakes at first, snapping about how she feels about the restoration and how HER way is always the right way and that she and the restoration don't care about their safety, and reprimanding Tangle for letting her heart lead her astray and that she always needs to be caution and follow her head, Tangle keeps on pressing, calling out Lanolin for her stubbornness, bossiness, single-mindedness and hubris, saying that the problem is not that THEY are not trying to be better, but that they CAN'T and that Lanolin's pushing isn't mak9ng them better, but putting them under pressure and making them feel uncomfortable with themselves. she then say that while she understands that Lanolin wants order and not chaos, the restoration DOES care and LANOLIN is the one who doesn't, it is sometimes actually OKAY to take a chance and listen to your heart and gut and that life is unpredictable, not everything needs to make sense to be true as the truth is sometimes stranger than fiction and that she should be more flexible. Whisper also speaks up, saying how Lanolin calls herself a soldier when she is actually less experienced than herself and Tangle and that she herself was just as much to blame for what happened in issue 64, as she could've at least looked into their claims and thus avoided the hurt outcome and that she only lost control of herself when Lanolin didn't believe and listen to her and overreacted by flipping her over. When asked by Lanolin why she cares, Tangle says it's because she's their friend but that FRIENDSHIP is the true foundation, this hits the sheep hard. After being told to "think about it", Lanolin stays hidden to think while Tangle and Whisper go off to fight Johnny. continued in reply...

Shattered Diamonds, Issue 5: Repairs it's all out action as Tangle and Whisper get into the fight against Johnny in his new suit, alongside Surge and Kit, neither duo arousing the others suspicions and Johnny being careful enough not to blow the latter Duo's cover. Silver even joins the fight, as he accompanies Sonic when he arrives. As the fight goes on, Lanolin observes and begins to second guess herself. remembering what Sonic, Amy and Blaze have told her in issue 3 and seeing how Whisper and Tangle are giving their all and not quitting, Lanolin remembers that she promised to be more patient with Whisper's issues in issue 58 and realises that she needs to believe in her comrades and friends more often, be more flexible and also believe in her gut more, and joins in the battle, being more supportive to Tangle and Whisper. through courage and heart and finally taking a leap of faith, Lanolin manages to disable Johnny's suit with her wisp and bell, forcing him and the surviving pirates to retreat. Surge and Kit, having been watching, are impressed with how they came back together and begin to feel somewhat guilty. while there are still some tensions between the Diamonds Cutters, it has lessened, and Lanolin concedes that maybe she was a bit too harsh on both Silver and Whisper and that she needs to be more open minded and trusting of her friends more, Silver admits that HE was the one who acted out in issue 64, all while defending Whisper, Tangle expresses that maybe she should be more supportive of others, no matter what, and Whisper, while now believing in Mimic, Surge and Kit's deception again, realises that she needs to believe more in herself but not to let past trauma drive her. While Lanolin allows Whisper back into the Diamond Cutters and to keep an eye on Duo, Kit and Surge, she still advices caution and to keep it to herself, to which Whispers answers "for now". At the end, Johnny, while in contact with Mimic, expresses his failure to utterly destroy the Diamond Cutters and Sonic, for now, but Mimic, Surge and Kit's cover is still safe, therefore Clutch's hostile takeover is still possible, the pirate still has his suit and is impressed with how it works, and that when it's repaired, he will DEFEAT sonic. THE END... for now note: while i was initially having just Mimic, Surge and Kit being the villains, i decided that someone else other than Clutch be pulling the strings, and, as i personally like Johnny from Sonic Rush Adventure, i decided to make HIM the main villain of the 5-issue series and Clutch the overarching villain. also, sorry for such long and specific details

After writing a letter of resignation and considering leaving, she hesitates and her subconscious speaks to her in the form of hallucination of her fallen Diamond cutters, who encourage her not to give in to doubt and despair, to persist in the face of doubt and try to make peace. remembering that she did a similar thing to Silver, and deciding to confront her doubts, she decides to see him, and vice-versa, and at the right time as Duo was about to make his move. She explains to him what happened, and, although Silver admits he made a mistake with how he handled trying to expose Mimic, SHE should've supported him through and through, and he feels somewhat betrayed by her as he looked up to her as the Guardian Angel but now sees her as a 'Diamond'. Whisper protests, saying that it wasn't that she didn't trust him, it's that she didn't want him in any more trouble. Silver acknowledges that but says it doesn't change that she hurt him by not defending him in issue 64. Tangle, having been listening on Whisper's com link trying to get into contact with her, and realises she did the same thing, and feels even MORE guilty. meanwhile, Surge and Kit gets into contact with Johnny and the latter says that now that Lanolin is without Tangle and Whisper, it's time to attack, and this time for REAL, as he puts on his super sonic suit to destroy Sonic, as when they start the attack and Lanolin comes to defend, he'll allow her to send a destress call to Sonic before Surge and Kit take her by surprise and Sonic comes to Johnny, so he can destroy him and Clutch will take advantage of the carnage for his hostile takeover. continued in reply...
Shattered Diamonds, Issue 4: Shards Feeling guilty, and realising that she made a mistake for not supporting Silver, and on Sonic's advice when she visits him, Whisper decides to look into his claims about Duo again. Tangle comes back and apologises to Whisper for sticking up for her. Whisper, realising she did a similar thing to Silver and recognising why Tangle did what she did, forgives her, and Tangle agrees to help Whisper. Whisper is initially thrown off by Duo getting hurt, until Tangle, after calling the Chaotix for advice, figures that maybe Mimic has changed and that maybe Whisper's been going with what she KNEW about Mimic, recalling that Whisper didn't know Mimic could alter clothes to make it look damaged and was caught off guard, considering that Whisper herself had changed after the tragedy, and hurt himself because he KNEW Whisper would doubt herself. Whisper also notices how much Duo is similar to her old friend, Slinger the Ocelot, and that it is a tiny tell of Duo being Mimic, and also considers that maybe it was Duo disguised as Surge she caught dismantling the defence controls and that she didn't make a mistake, she was set up. as Johnny and the pirates start their attack, Johnny having the upper hand on Lanolin due to the Sheep's overthinking, and Surge and Kit are about to make their move on Lanolin when her back is turned after she makes that Distress call, Whisper and Tangle arrive just in time to save her and Whisper explains what she has figured out. Lanolin gets annoyed with disbelief, understandably due to last time, but Whisper remains firm and Tangle finally speaks up and explains that Lanolin is the root of the problem, with her pressuring, unintentional gaslighting and inability to trust her heart and listen to her friends, and that she believes in Whisper because she's her friend and she actually experienced and that "so what if she makes rash choices, she ALWAYS knows what she's doing". Lanolin stubbornly refuses to accept her own mistakes at first, snapping about how she feels about the restoration and how HER way is always the right way and that she and the restoration don't care about their safety, and reprimanding Tangle for letting her heart lead her astray and that she always needs to be caution and follow her head, Tangle keeps on pressing, calling out Lanolin for her stubbornness, bossiness, single-mindedness and hubris, saying that the problem is not that THEY are not trying to be better, but that they CAN'T and that Lanolin's pushing isn't mak9ng them better, but putting them under pressure and making them feel uncomfortable with themselves. she then say that while she understands that Lanolin wants order and not chaos, the restoration DOES care and LANOLIN is the one who doesn't, it is sometimes actually OKAY to take a chance and listen to your heart and gut and that life is unpredictable, not everything needs to make sense to be true as the truth is sometimes stranger than fiction and that she should be more flexible. Whisper also speaks up, saying how Lanolin calls herself a soldier when she is actually less experienced than herself and Tangle and that she herself was just as much to blame for what happened in issue 64, as she could've at least looked into their claims and thus avoided the hurt outcome and that she only lost control of herself when Lanolin didn't believe and listen to her and overreacted by flipping her over. When asked by Lanolin why she cares, Tangle says it's because she's their friend but that FRIENDSHIP is the true foundation, this hits the sheep hard. Shattered Diamonds, Issue 5: Repairs it's all out action as Tangle and Whisper get into the fight against Johnny in his new suit, alongside Surge and Kit, neither duo arousing the others suspicions and Johnny being careful enough not to blow the latter Duo's cover. Silver even joins the fight, as he accompanies Sonic when he arrives. As the fight goes on, Lanolin observes and begins to second guess herself. remembering what Sonic, Amy and Blaze have told her in issue 3 and seeing how Whisper and Tangle are giving their all and not quitting, Lanolin remembers that she promised to be more patient with Whisper's issues in issue 58 and realises that she needs to believe in her comrades and friends more often, be more flexible and also believe in her gut more, and joins in the battle, being more supportive to Tangle and Whisper. through courage and heart and finally taking a leap of faith, Lanolin manages to disable Johnny's suit with her wisp and bell, forcing him and the surviving pirates to retreat. Surge and Kit, having been watching, are impressed with how they came back together and begin to feel somewhat guilty. while there are still some tensions between the Diamonds Cutters, it has lessened, and Lanolin concedes that maybe she was a bit too harsh on both Silver and Whisper and that she needs to be more open minded and trusting of her friends more, Silver admits that HE was the one who acted out in issue 64, all while defending Whisper, Tangle expresses that maybe she should be more supportive of others, no matter what, and Whisper, while now believing in Mimic, Surge and Kit's deception again, realises that she needs to believe more in herself but not to let past trauma drive her. While Lanolin allows Whisper back into the Diamond Cutters and to keep an eye on Duo, Kit and Surge, she still advices caution and to keep it to herself, to which Whispers answers "for now". At the end, Johnny, while in contact with Mimic, expresses his failure to utterly destroy the Diamond Cutters and Sonic, for now, but Mimic, Surge and Kit's cover is still safe, therefore Clutch's hostile takeover is still possible, the pirate still has his suit and is impressed with how it works, and that when it's repaired, he will DEFEAT sonic. THE END... for now note: while i was initially having just Mimic, Surge and Kit being the villains, i decided that someone else other than Clutch be pulling the strings, and, as i personally like Johnny from Sonic Rush Adventure, i decided to make HIM the main villain of the 5-issue series and Clutch the overarching villain. also, sorry for such long and specific details
