Many years ago, a mate and I started up a crappy fanzine which took a light-hearted look at mountain biking, with the emphasis being on the DH scene and how average we all were at it. The fanzine was called Stopadoodledoo and had a small but loyal following.
We have chatted about starting it up again on and off ever since but with Cushtie (James) now living in Seattle and the rest of our merry bunch of idiots spread all over the UK, it was never going to be the same.
As such, I thought why not start recording crap and putting it up on KZread, along the same lines as the content of Stopadoodledoo (opinionated, ill-informed guff that people hopefully find amusing and don't take too seriously, or to heart).
This is that relaunch of one of the least memorable names in publishing history.

Enjoyed that Jock - laughed at you falling off obviously and the trail run stuff, nervously, I've got my first Ultra Marathon in September - only 75k and a 'bit' lumpy!
Cheers Woody. Good luck for the ultra marathon, they sound like an insane amount of effort. Funnily enough, we got chatting to a few of the runners; one even asked if he could get a ciggy off us as he couldn't wait until the end - he ran off smoking, looking chuffed to bits 😂
Absolutely beautiful trails. I'm on the East Coast USA, in my area there are lots of Poplar trees with massive roots everywhere which can make certain trails quite difficult. I'd love a trail like this. Also our trails are extremely wet now with a Hurricane on it's way up the coast yet again.
They really are fantastic trails, the builders put a lot of effort in there (and are really friendly too). Maybe doesn't look it but there's quite a variety of trails there with narrow rooty ones, wider flowing ones, even some rocky bits (slate of course - it is Wales after all...). Beauty of it is that even in the depths of winter when the ground is sodden and muddy, it still rides well. Yeah, the roots can get slippy but that's all part of the fun!
The one just a little further down from 6:45 has to be my favourite! The one at 10:00 that is if I’d kept watching before commenting!
🤣 I usually try to wait until I have watched full videos before commenting but have done the same thing myself before. I bet not many get to the point of seeing Tony in his ‘life jacket’ 🤣
🤣🤣 your own poo accident, now there's a concept I never imagined 💩 Great video mate, always good seeing Tony! Such a great place there, really lucky having that on your doorstep! The end cracked me up... Well, who would have thought it 😉🤣
Thanks mate, the trails were running damned well (apart from the overgrown ones). As for Tony's Tube, I couldn't actually film that clip at first because I was laughing so much; I really thought he meant he used it instead of a life jacket 😂😂😂
Bloody brilliant and that's that 😂
Well thanks mate, and that's that 😂
@@Stopadoodledoo short and succinct 👍
@@MTB_Derbyshire 🤣 Other than Tony’s impromptu life jacket, I’ll admit there’s not much else to comment on with this one. It’s just mates riding dry trails
Looks great.
Thanks mate, it really is. Tough ride but so rewarding!
Looks like a great place to ride mate! Might have to give it a go at some point! 👍
My favourite 'local' place for sure 👍
Driest I've ever seen them trails, looked loose in parts. Obviously not the place for quim!! 😂
They were running incredibly well, not loose at all. Only issue was the undergrowth on the last one - hard to see the trail in places (and you really want to see the trail) 😂
@@Stopadoodledoo that's the trouble with summer, overgrown trails!
Great video, i do love those trails, well, the ones I’ve ridden anyway 😄, can’t wait to go back, hopefully the trails will still be dry when I get back from turkey, I’ll probably look like Tony with the blown up inner tube by then 🤣🤣 maybe I should go canoeing instead 🤣🤣
Thanks mate, was so cool with them being dry (and dusty - left out the run that the thumbnail came from but I was basically swallowing the dust that the two lads were kicking up). Not sure about canoeing; have you thought about SUP-Boarding? 😂

I'll see what I can do, Wizbit 👍😂
They look awsome tbh bro . Great vid dude 😎
Really are mate, regardless of the conditions too (although it was fantastic with them being dry)
Great video and proper review. It took me to the age of 47 to get my first brand new bike and i always liked the p7 so thats what i had and in the same colour as yours, its a fantastic bike, although i did swap out the shimano m8 brakes for magura ones. I do find i get way more pedal strike on it compared to my old orange five. But it keeps you on your toes i suppose. Enjoy your bike and where it takes you. 🎉
Thanks mate, had it nearly a year now (recently did a long term review video) and love it to bits, more often than not this is the bike I take out as I just love riding it. I went for XT brakes as an upgrade from the Clarks it came with, have changed very little else since making this video last year 👍
Nice footpaths down to Seldom Seen and past Angle Tarn
Two of my favourites for sure. I was trying to keep the actual location quiet though

I have not heard milkers for far too long haha
I did mull over using churns instead 🤣
Look at this guy, using AI to write an anti AI rant. What has the world come too? Im just faffin about... Great points! Thx for the video.
As if AI would come up with nonsense like this 🤣 Marc did ask ChatGPT to write an idea and script for a mountain bike video, he obviously never made it but it was ridiculous 🤣
@@StopadoodledooYeah, they really shouldve named it simply A, instead of AI, as the I is definitely absent!
🤣🤣
maxi schmurrrrrr - never go ebike , less tech the better Bobby
Great stuff, we all rely far too much on tech. If it was all turned off the country would be fecked🤣🤣. Not sure what planet those two on the paddle boards are from, but you definitely need beer goggles on🤣
You'd need more than beer goggles mate; you'd need to wear boxing gloves too so you didn't notice the incorrect number of milkers 😂
Mae tne effort you have put into this video with all the various shots is quite epic! Fair play for that alone! Which the wireless technilogy certainly improves with the mic! Totally agree about the AI descriptions, nothing honest about it at all and so lazy! Been surprised by how many channels use it now as well! But the pictures, they are just another level of funny 🤣 Think I buck the trend currently with the ebike, and am loving the non system bike for now 😁 But the ebike always has a place for laps as well, just an expensive second bike for me currently!
Yeah, this took so much effort to film, pushing back up the hill and riding past over and over again; was probably more tiring than the Helvellyn ride from two days previously. ChatGPT makes my mind snap, so easy to spot and using it is just lazy; reading the descriptions created using it is so cringeworthy - 'Expert riders showcasing unmatched skills' for instance, when it's a bunch of average bods pottering down a trail. It makes the person using it in the Description look like a total muppet. As for AI images, they're ace 😂
Great video mate, some valid points made about AI, that picture though 🤣🤣🤣 R2D2 in the backpack sounds cool 🤣. Technology is great, when used for the right reasons, like you say, we will all end up with an ebike eventually when our bodies start to deteriorate 😄👍🏻
Thanks mate. That AI image is the highlight of the video, perfectly captures the thrill of SUP in the Yorkshire Dales with a couple of wrong 'uns 😂
Next headline! MTBer takes out google datacenter using filter to remove wrinkles! 😂😂😂 Great vid mate!
Thanks mate. If I was to appear in a video without wrinkles, it would be so ridiculous that it could potentially break KZread 😂
Jacob Reese Mogg On a skateboard 😂 Chat-GPT is so cringe! Keep on enjoying the riding!
It really is, and it's so easy to spot as the stuff it spews out is absolutely nothing like people speak/write (apart from Reece Mogg of course) 😂
That AI image is out of this world hilarious 😂😂😂. Technology is most noticeable to those of us that have been riding since the 90s. I used to go out with route instructions written down on a scrap of paper....tell that to the kids of today and they won't believe you. All progress though.....right?
It was a particularly awful AI image but to be honest, there's always something off about the vast majority of them - it doesn't seem to be able to do humans very well. I imagine that it needs to be kind of generic rather than use actual photos of people (copyright/privacy) but still, the 'girls' in this one look like photographic renditions of what a 7 year old might draw. I do think that there's many elements out there that are a progression; I know that having a phone with GPS on it (albeit not the most accurate) has helped me out on a few occasions when in the middle of nowhere; pretty sure I could have worked out where I was from an OS map but it would have taken longer. AI and social media though, that's a different kettle of fish. Apparently, on larger channels, a lot of the generic-looking comments are generated by bots nowadays, and they aren't being paid for in any way, shape or form. At least you would hope they're not being paid for as many contain really dodgy links in them. Even had a few myself in the past although thankfully it appears to have stopped, for now.
@@Stopadoodledoo I've heard some people actually pay for views and subscribers too. Can you imagine that? How utterly tragic.
😂😂😂
Titing her up 😂😂😂😂 these vids must take you ages!
This one took hours mate, both to film and edit. Easiest bit was the Titty SUP bit; maybe AI is useful after all 🤣
@@Stopadoodledoo 🤣🤣🤣 maybe so
Making sure both my cameras are charged is enough hassle for me. I couldn't cope with charging dropper posts, deraileurs and remotes as well!
Absolutely mate. I really do have to remind myself to charge everything just for filming, never mind everything else 🤣
Great video Jason, you've summed it up perfectly and got to the point mate. Super riding with great shots and real commentary. I'm excited to see how the videos develop, but like you, I'll stick to the real thing to reflect our love of the sport. Thanks for sharing and have a great week mate🤙🤘
From Crowdstrike to ChatGPT via ebikes 🤣 Thanks mate, have a great week too 👍
@@Stopadoodledoo 🙏
I have an ebike, trail bike and a gravel bike. Went on a ride with my brother yesterday on my ebike as my trail bike had a mechanical but I rode it in OFF...16 miles/2000ft +. I ride both frequently and all have their place! I don't mind the climb on the normal steed 👍 helps being relatively fit ha
I think there’s a lot of misunderstanding out there about eBikes, with people just assuming that they are the lazy option whereas if you are willing to put the effort in, it can be just as tiring, if not more so, than a regular bike. We were chatting about them a fair bit on our Lakes ride last week, often from the perspective of just what could you climb on one, and at what gradient. They open up a lot of opportunities, and not (as often stated) just to physically impaired or ‘lazy’ people
@@Stopadoodledoo absolutely spot on! I've done loads of climbs where on the regular I'm just not able to do especially around the lakes or bigger stuff like that! Also when on my own I race it so more often than not the same ride I generally get my heart rate up more on the ebike as I know I'm going to smash that hill so race up instead of just chilled spinning on the regular. Of course you can let them get you up the hill and they will do or you can ride them aggressively to get the workout. Prob done more rides on the normal one this year as still love that nimble feeling. Each to their own but a great tool to have 👍
I'm glad I'm not using all this new Tech lol. N I don't think I'd edit use AI ect . I don't think ull see me on an Ebike 😂😂😂

Hey Jock, great to stumble on this whilst looking at old sandside line vids. Yet to find a vid from arnside to hincaster so if you've nowt to do would be fab to see with your local tales on route. Ship inn and pints of Theak'stons - fun times. Du.
Hey Du, been so long (25 years?); you still living in Cornwall, and do you head back up to Storth ever? Ship is closed now but there's now three boozers in Arnside to get smashed in and embarrass yourself with middle aged drunken stupidity. I have done another ride around the area, last September with Pete and Neil Third Wheel, including a beer festival on the playing fields - a few more tales in that one but mainly idiocy. As for the railway, you can't do the section from the Marsh Road to Heversham as far as I know; there's a channel called Nodrog (or something similar) that did a couple of videos on the line but one of the best places for photos, etc., is the village Facebook page, run by Hud (Wayne Hudson); I think your brother is a member, sure I've seen him post on there. There's also a book called Kendal Tommy, published by the Cumbrian Railway Association, which is full of all kinds of info, photos and history.
I'm on the lookout for Kendal Tommy book but will check out other channels too. Was up this weekend actually and wandered to remains of Bela viaduct which is pretty mad just seeing big blocks of sandstone. I'm in Devon but will keep up with your vids. Looks like you are still having a laugh and I did enjoy your dog egg story 'shouldn't laugh' - classic.
@@Pisquine I just searched online and found a copy but they want £101 for it 😂 I don't get back up nearly as often as I should, especially given that it's not really that far (live in Chester now, so about an hour and a half drive). I was kind of up two weeks ago but was riding around Glenridding and didn't call in at Storth as I had a mate with me and I was driving. It's weird though, as Storth will always be home, even though I haven't lived there since 1998.
Mate what a day!! Gutted I missed it, but it looked an exhausting one! No chance I would want to do that on the HT 🤣 "What have you done Jenvey?" 🤣🤣 So many parts that made me laugh, the outro is your best yet! In fact, I actually think this is my favourite video you have pulled together! Fantastic video, day, and laughter!! The intro is still making me laugh 🤣🤣 Surprised I could see you with camo on 🙈
Thanks mate, a shame you couldn’t make it but you would have hated it on a hardtail; every trail is way rockier than it looks on camera. I didn’t plan the Jenvey comment but as soon as I said Satan, I remembered that he is the dark lord 🤣 Funnily enough, had it rained, I would have had to put my jacket on, a camouflage one. Is Double Camo as bad as Double Denim? 🤣
Someone nicked half your tent mate!!😂 Graded by Satan😂 I only watch for the commentary! 😂 Curse those noisy brakes for making you fall off! Bad brakes.
The first trail is the one we finished on when we did our Lakes trip (although you missed it due to your unplanned bicycle pub crawl; second is the one we did on the first night, they were ‘fixing’ the last bit (it’s where Bren crashed into the bags full of rocks multiple times). If you watched rather than just listening to the commentary, you would know that Tatty 🤣
Great video as always! Fantastic ride!
Thanks mate, this ride is one of my favourites for good reason. Brutal, tiring but so damned good. Could hardly move my arms the next day 🤣
Absolute quality, bud👌 Do you record rides on strava, etc? Be good to follow you!👍
Thanks mate. I don’t really use Strava nowadays as I ride a lot of cheeky stuff and don’t want to upset people by giving too much away. Saying that, this ride is on my Strava from a few years ago. Search for Stopadoodledoo on there, search my activities for Angle Tarn or Boredale Hause and you will be able to find it. Amongst the many hundreds of commute rides, there’s a fair bit on there from the Lakes, Hebden Bridge, North Wales and Shropshire (never really recorded the really cheeky stuff though)

@@Stopadoodledoo there’s a good chance of survival on worlds end, this…. No chance 🤣
Great riding. I know those trails well and it's a tragedy that the true brutality of them doesn't show on the GoPro! The bracken has really grown up around here over the past couple of weeks and it's starting to give some interesting visibility challenges to add to the massive rocks, loose stones and drop offs...
Thanks mate. The bracken made the bottom of the first unnamed descent a bit of a challenge to see where we were going but other than that, wasn't too bad really. We rode Lingmoor Fell (near Ambleside) in the summer a couple of years ago and the bracken was so thick and high, you literally couldn't see the trail - that was interesting. GoPro really doesn't show the trails for what they are and I guess if anyone was to go off a video of them, they may be in for a surprise. I think Marc was slightly taken aback by them; nothing crazy but they are just relentless.
That BW at 17:00+ looked delicious! I don't recognise it! Right up my street! Great riding! Thanks for the Vid!
Thanks mate. It's Boredale Hause; trail splits with the footpath running below the bridleway. Having ridden both now, I can confirm the bridleway is better; steeper, a bit rougher but better 👍
Cracking video and ride. Magic 😊
Thanks mate, really is one of my favourite loops anywhere. Climbs are tough but the descents make up for it a thousand times over 👍

What an amazing looking day mate. Almost looks like up in the alps in places, great looking trails too. I think it was a good plan to leave the hard tail at home 😉
Really was a fantastic day, even with the drizzle (off camera and to be honest when we needed it) and the crash. The only way I would take a hardtail would be if I had absolutely no choice in the matter, and it would be a way slower (and more painful/exhausting) ride 😃
