Hi I'm trying to figure out the simplest way to run a Zetec. A Friend bought a river boat that has a 1.6 crossflow he has spent quite a lot to get the engine up to date it hadn't even had the head done for unleaded and after spending on that and changing every gasket +electronic ignition then the head gasket leaked the electronic ignition gave up. Switching it to a Zetec seems the obvious way to go to me.
Have a look at my Nodiz video that you will need for the electronics. Your not going to need to change the sump for example as I assume it's just going to sit in place. You will need bike carbs for fueling though but those can be picked up fairly easily in the UK. What a great question for me to answer. Thanks for asking 😊
What are the base usdm 1.6 ti-vct?
Best of luck to both of you. Gonna do my best to come and meet you at Herbies.👍
Hello Mike, you just past me on E4 în Sweden, be safe, bye
Hihihi hope you have a safe journey. Thanks for writing to me it made me smile 😊😊
Looking forward to seeing you both 👍
Same to you both
Lycka till på resan å hoppas den går bra hela vägen å tillbaka 😊👍
Tack 😊 Det gör det säkert 👍👍
Some stuff that I bring on road trips are a "tire worm kit", so you don't have to ruin your tire with goo in case of a puncture. Some extra motor oil, ATF for autos, light bulbs, fuses, relays, spare wires and connectors, electrical tape, couple of nuts and bolts, duct tape, spare fan belt (I actually needed one once and didn't have one!). And it looks like you have space for a cooler box, I bring one when possible because cold drinks really help keep the spirit up especially on a hot summer day with no AC. Have a good trip!
We have looked at a cooler box but it's probably more hassle that it's worth so we've gone for a cool bag to keep things cool. Alice has only got a 34L fuel tank so we have to stop fairly regularly anyway 🫣
Hi! you don't take gaskets or gasket paste and belt?
Not thought of that. Thanks 👍👍
Hey Mrs mechanic there a bit of spare room behind your seat 😂😂 have a safe trip you guys hope everything goes to plan for you 👍
Shhhhhh that space is for car parts only 🤣🤣🤣. Thank you
What alternator did you use on this please
@@stephengaffney2068 hi. I did mention it in the film, but it is from a toyota corolla
Do u need to clamp a hose from the master cylinder?
Yes or it will drain the system
Can u tell or show me where exactly, i have a similar car, mazda 3 bk 1.6 diesel, another question is that if i disconnect the pipe from slave cylinder and lift the pipe upward will be enough or i must usr a clamp somewhere

Bra filmat. Träffade dig på bilträffen i Haparanda. Fanns många fina bilar där.
@@jerryfredriksson tack så mycket 😊. Ja otroligt många bilar där.
Min gröna Fiat 💚 fick du med. a.k.a. #ärtfarmor 😁 Jag såg din Ford, nice work, Mike!
I really liked that fiat 😍.
Nice one Mike. Thanks for sharing.👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi dude I've been watching your channel for along time and when you did the zetec conversion and when you needed to change your tie bar from sb part have you still got your genuine one and would you sell it and would you bring it over to England when you come in August to the ford fair 2024 and would you posted it in England or if you like to come and deliver it in person and I will give you what you want for it because I've been looking for one for a long time
I'm not sure if I still have it and I won't get the opportunity to look for it before I leave I'm afraid. I can have a look in my storage when I get back and could send it to you then if that helps?
@@mike_themechanic that would be great if you could do that
You'll have to remind me as I'll definitely have forgotten it in 3 weeks 🤣🤣
@@mike_themechanic I will remain you in 3 weeks on the 22 of August
@garrytaggart3228 thank you
Hello mate those low pressure facet lift pumps should be mounted up right with the outlet higher than the inlet it stops vapour lock 😊
@@Mk2_FezStefan thanks for that info. I spent ages looking for information to see if I could mount them in different positions and found absolutely nothing so I'm really grateful that you told me what I have been looking for
Taunus color name is "ultimate green" It is Ford Focus RS color.
Oh is it that colour. It looked amazing on that taunus 😍
@@mike_themechanic thanks
@@heikkik1481 was that you taunus?
@@mike_themechanic yes it is. there are a few videos of the car on my youtube channel.
@heikkik1481 I'll go and have a look at them. Thank you for contacting me 😊
Like from a local 👍 because I saw your branded car at this meet.
@@KoichiFirst8092 thank you. Hope you liked the show
I've got to give the drum brakes on my Mk4 a good clean up before its MOT retest... This video is the best one I've seen on the subject. Thanks for making it!
@@mattbarney3183 wow thank you for those very kind words. Makes me very happy to hear that you have been helped by this video 😊
@@mike_themechanic you're very welcome! What did you do with this sweet little Fiesta in the end? (I admit I haven't checked any of your other videos yet...!)
@@mattbarney3183 I sold it as soon as it was finished. One of my student bought it after seeing what I had done with it
@@mike_themechanic it's a great little car. I hope they're really enjoying it! The little Endura sounds great now the tappets are done too!
@mattbarney3183 yeah I love these small old ford's. I really want to get a ka one day
The trip to England newer happened??

You changed the wrong rubber on the oil filter...
LOL this mechanic closed the engine oil cap dirty like that with dirt ... it can go inside the engine oil...
Excellent stuff. Really got my fingers crossed 🤞 for you on the UK trip.👍🏻
So have I 😊
Hey, Your content quality is excellent and your content ideas are also good. But your videos have lower audience engagement. Need a proper searchable video tag set up to reach the targeted area and audience. Here are also some of the issues which you need to fix. If those problems are fixed your video easily ranks on the top search results and you get your potential viewers according to your video niche organically. I have some plans for you to fix those issues. Can I share?
Hi Mike, thanks for the video, we just had the Aurora show in Båstad. We had a lot of the top sports cars gathered at the Koenigsegg Installation on Friday. Work in the morning and i am still walking on air. 🪁
I can imagine you are as your living most people's dream, including mine 🤣🤣. Great to hear from you again.
i wonder if Mercedes owners would proudly wear a sticker " Fiesta inside" on their cars...😂
That would be something 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hi hi, do you still have pressure on the coolant?
Unfortunately I do. I've bought a head gasket tester so I'll be testing it soon to see if that's the problem 😭😭
Mike..hope you can help me...completely forgotten how to see whether its on AC or DC? Is light on mean AC? used it for aluminium a lot many years ago...no problems- no complaints.
Light on means ac
How much on average would you expect to pay to change master cylinder
Not sure but I would imagine about 2 hours labour plus parts
Mk2 fiesta you can remove fan from behind bonnet latch panel in engine bay!
I was hoping to be able to do that on mine but no such luck
@@mike_themechanic At least you've sorted it : )
Ford used 2 different types of heater motor, the bosch one you have only works with your heater box, with the red tops and that white cage. the other type you can't change the motor on annoyingly.
Thanks for the info
I have an 82 Facelift. Do you know if this will fit mine?
@@nickwhitney1534 easiest way to check is to remove the panel for the bonnet lock and see how it looks
@@nickwhitney1534 Yes as Mike said, take bonnet catch plate off and see if yours has the red plastic tabs on top and if you can see the white cage which holds the motor. 👍👍
I thought I heard a tapping sound Mike 😄, just kidding, the new motor sounds great.
😲😲🤣🤣. It's such a relief that the engine works so well straight away
Where did you get the torque settings from? I've been told it's 20nm for clutch!
We use a program at the workshop that has all the torque settings
Som vanligt intressant video, längtar redan nu till vi får se din resa 😁
Ja jag med. 😊
Move to England
I had the silver top zetec in my MK1 and with that you could stick a 1.8 head on the 2.0 block and fit the RS turbo steel head gasket which was 0.7mm instead of the standard 2.0mm so with both you got a nice compression raise with out having to skim the block, if it came you it you could still safely take 20-30 thou off it even with high lift cams fitted. Not sure about the black top but all your problems sound tappety / clearance related so a new head would probably sort it if you can't sort out the one you already have.
Yes I definitely think it's a tappet problem and so quite now that they don't tap
Blimey serious stuff Mike but a worth while job bid say car sounds sweet now and ready for the road 👍
Yeah it sounds like a proper car now 😂😂
I would get the shims mate to fix the tapping noise
I did look at that and the closest I could get was 3.0mm and I needed 3.15mm so it would have probably still made a tapping noise although less it would still be there
Does grinding back welds using flap wheels create more heat than say croc sanders?
True. But used carefully and with very little pressure they can be very effective without the risk of heat damage
@@mike_themechanic I've done some arc welding and when ground back was left with some craters.
@@jaggass was it thin metal? Could be that the panels weren't exactly level when welded or could be too much heat causing the edges to shrink in and then when ground back they leave the weld lower than the rest of the panel. I got the tip of welding three spots then cooling the weld area from whiteland Restorations here on KZread they do loads of bodywork stuff
@@mike_themechanic 1/4 steel.
I'd only cut off what i needed too for the same reasons. I don't know what size steel car panels are. Has to be less than 1mm
It's definitely not 1mm probably about 0.8mm nowadays.
Nice job
Thank you 😊
Good job! Mister💪✊🇩🇪🇷🇺. Danke и большое спасибо.
Thank you very much
Nothing better than cars and a good old rock playlist !
Yeah it is a great combo
