G'day Robbo, quick question as I'm sure you've seen your fair share of Sako L61R Finnbears over the years. I just bought one in 30-06 in seemingly excellent condition, great bore, zero rust, excellent stock, well looked after but I can't get it to group for the life of me. The best group I've achieved is 1.7inch at 100M using a 150gr barnes TSX bullet and 59gr of AR2209 powder, I've shot about 10 different brands and weights of factory ammo and they group around the 4 inch+ mark and worse. Do you recall any common problems with these or have I just bought a lemon? Considering selling it to buy a weatherby but I don't know if I could sell a gun like this to somebody in good conciense.
It’s always disheartening and expensive when you have to go through this with a rifle. Not to mention frustrating🙄. That rifle should be a shooter but I’d get it checked out by a gunsmith. Going over everything including running a borescope down the barrel. As much as it can be a hard pill to swallow I’d move it on if you can’t get it to shoot but as you said it should. I’d also be checking out your mounts and scope integrity along with your bedding and action tension. Keep me in the loop and good luck with it👍👍
@@BoltActionProductions Thanks mate, it's just occurred to me I've only shot boat tail bullets through it at this point. I'll try some flat based bullets this weekend and if it doesn't like those either I'll take it to a smith and see what they make of it. Brand new Swarovski z5 scope and sako opitlock rings so I don't think it's a scope issue. Cheers.
What sort of rifle are you using on this video shooting rabbit and pussy…. Haha? Keep the videos up pal 👌👍
A variety but mainly my custom hand built .243
Just awesome.
Thank you! Cheers!
I have the Maven B.1 10x42. I bought them in 2020. Great glass. The biggest disappointment for me has been the eye cups. Maven did NOT go all in on eye cups, lol. When they arrived, the right eye cup was cock-eyed and stuck. I had to gently unstick it and it has gotten loose over time. The left eye cup has gotten looser over time as well. So, compared to my Steiner Merlin Pro 10x42, Steiner has far superior eye cups. Seems like such a small inexpensive piece to get right, but Maven dropped the ball. For binoculars that cost almost $1K, having unsat eye cups is a real disappointment. Overall, compared to my Steiner Merlin Pros, the Mavens have slightly superior glass, but with the incredible annoyance of the low-end, cheap eye cups, the Steiners at half the price were a far better way to go.
Have you spoken to a Maven representative about this? Interested to hear your feedback.
Good palm off to Rodney and Nath at the start 😂
Fastest handball in the south 🤣😂😳
@@BoltActionProductions was bloody good 😂
Good video as always Robbo. 👍
Thanks mate 👍👍
What’s the back back set up you have there mate? Love the video pal, keep them coming!! 👍
It's actually based on a Camelbak Delta 5 vest and I just change up the bags via the Molle system as required. Nice to hear these videos are enjoyed. Thanks for watching.
Cool footage Robbo 👍🏻
I thought so too mate 👌

Thanks mate. Certainly hard not to enjoy days like this. Stay well.
Meters???
Not sure what the question is 🤔
How far you shot in the video 😅
That’s an epic moment to capture, the kind of moments only a well executed stalk can produce
Certainly was mate. Got lucky👌.
Wow this is actually in my top 3 viewing of deer in the wild.,i really enjoy your channel fellas wether you are bustin the bunnies ,smackin the reynards , or walkin em up , even slappin the odd pussy 😊 keep it up 👍🏼

I thought so mate. Glad you enjoyed it.
That’s unreal footage mate! You’re a man of patience, that’s for sure! 👌🏽
It was pretty cool. Patience usually pays off. Thanks again for watching.
Truely wonderful. A beautiful animal. 👍🍺
It really is!
Fantastic images, so sharp. What camera and lens were you using if you don't mind me asking?
Cheers mate. Multiple cameras are used but the close up shots were with the Sony A7IV and the 100-400mm lens.
@@BoltActionProductions thanks ... the A7IV is impressive kit. I've got the older A7Riii. If I haven't used it for a few months I have to sit down for a bit and refamiliarize myself with all the menu settings otherwise I'm soo slow on the draw.
@@claverton A7Riii is a great photographic camera but the menus not as user friendly as the later Sony cameras
Awesome footage. Thanks for sharing robbo
Glad you enjoyed it
Just makes one want to get back out into the bush. What month is that?
Get into it mate. April if I remember correctly.
He’s a good looking fella Robbo
Certainly got potential.
Beautiful 😍
Thank you! Cheers!
Steve, I am buck'd if I know how you do it mate. Your videos just keep getting better and better if that's possible. Many thanks from up here in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.
Wow, thank you. Just got lucky.
Shit yeah great footage .
Thanks bud
Nice footage, mate, and you have those moviestar looks. Watch out, Brad Pitt..😉🤣.
Cheers Reg. Brad has nothing to worry about😂🤣
Now that was close,.. damn, I think that buck was looking straight through your lens at me :)
I had the same feeling. Surprised I didn't get busted.
@@BoltActionProductions Yes, absolutely!
fantastic piece of filming Steve.
Thanks Pete
Very nice. Certainly gets your heart rate up getting that close. Thanks for sharing.
You got that right!
Great footage of a nice Buck.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great stuff, thanks for sharing. 👍
No problem 👍
Buckin good footage
Certainly got lucky
Oh mate, the 22wmr is my go to for a night out. Im mostly hanging around the 50-100m shots and mine is pretty bloody effective with the hornady critical defence. Would love to get my hands on some good thermals.
Certainly a great round with some of the newer ammo offerings 👌. Those critical defence rounds are super accurate in my little Lithgow as well👍👍
FYI: I have reloaded my Lepua 223 brass now 56 times and I only FS every 10 reloads otherwise just neck size and I don't anneal and have thrown out 0 cases. Did the same test with PMC brass and by 20 reolads half were thrown out and by the end of 40 reloads all but one were thrown out. Currently also working on Rem. brass and after 22 reloads only two thrown out. I use a Lee Collet Neck Die.
Good info mate. Thanks for sharing. Makes sense really, the less you work and stretch the brass the longer good quality stuff will last.
My Sako S20 came with grease on the bolt from the factory instead of oil. Should i wipe that off and put oil on it instead?
Grease on the outside of the bolt or on the firing pin?
@@BoltActionProductions inside of the bolt around the shroud and the upper fat flat part of the firing pin
@@BoltActionProductions but no grease on the lower firing pin (skinny part) or the outside of the bolt
@@brandonyoung7760 that’s fine. You can leave that but every now and then it pays to strip the bolt and check the grease hasn’t migrated down to the firing pin end.
@BoltActionProductions ok thanks. I did strip the grease and just oil it but next time I'll probably strip that oil and grease it like it was 😂
That was great! Well filmed and a great shot Jim
Thanks Jim. Nice to see our regular customers still enjoying these videos 👍👍
Nice upload Jim
Thanks mate
Nice work Steve, good to see you out there again.
Cheers mate. Hope you are well👍👍
Thanks Steve, I really enjoyed the show. I appreciate the VGM promotion 👍 Hows your leg going mate? Would you say your fit enough for another backpack hunt? Does it hurt in the colder weather or is that a myth? Regards.
My pleasure mate. Leg is still an issue but managing it in my own way. Probably need further surgery down the track but I’ll be holding out for as long as I can. Have done a backpack hunt with the help of some great mates👍
Skill!!!
More like arse😉🤣😂
@@BoltActionProductions Over a long time there seems to have been far too many "flukes" to suggest luck is playing a part - nevertheless most can go to school on the workings to achieve a similar outcome.
Bloody good work Robbo! Nerves of steel mate!
Cheers Jason. Just got lucky😉
Long range shooting! My favourite! Nice mate.
Certainly a good tool to have in the shed when it comes to harvesting animals or pest control. Glad you enjoyed it mate. Stay well, shoot straight.
Awesome shot placement.. What grain projectile you using bloke..?
Cheers Terry. 162gr ELDX
Great job Robbo.I would love you to do something on long range shooting.A roundup of the gear and ballistic calculations would be great .
Thanks mate. I may look at doing something like that in the future👍👍
Great video once again mate!! Epic views too!!
Thanks a lot mate!
Awesome footage Steve. Congrats
Glad you enjoyed it mate. Thanks for watching.
Stuff mate 👌
Thanks Tony. As much as I post on the Tube I hardly watch anything on it. So I'm guilty of not catching up on quality content like you own.
@BoltActionProductions haha I know the feeling mate! I rarely have time to watch anything cause I'm too busy hunting and editing 🤣
Awsum as always 👌
Thank you so much 😀
