G'day Robbo, quick question as I'm sure you've seen your fair share of Sako L61R Finnbears over the years. I just bought one in 30-06 in seemingly excellent condition, great bore, zero rust, excellent stock, well looked after but I can't get it to group for the life of me. The best group I've achieved is 1.7inch at 100M using a 150gr barnes TSX bullet and 59gr of AR2209 powder, I've shot about 10 different brands and weights of factory ammo and they group around the 4 inch+ mark and worse. Do you recall any common problems with these or have I just bought a lemon? Considering selling it to buy a weatherby but I don't know if I could sell a gun like this to somebody in good conciense.

It’s always disheartening and expensive when you have to go through this with a rifle. Not to mention frustrating🙄. That rifle should be a shooter but I’d get it checked out by a gunsmith. Going over everything including running a borescope down the barrel. As much as it can be a hard pill to swallow I’d move it on if you can’t get it to shoot but as you said it should. I’d also be checking out your mounts and scope integrity along with your bedding and action tension. Keep me in the loop and good luck with it👍👍

@@BoltActionProductions Thanks mate, it's just occurred to me I've only shot boat tail bullets through it at this point. I'll try some flat based bullets this weekend and if it doesn't like those either I'll take it to a smith and see what they make of it. Brand new Swarovski z5 scope and sako opitlock rings so I don't think it's a scope issue. Cheers.

I have the Maven B.1 10x42. I bought them in 2020. Great glass. The biggest disappointment for me has been the eye cups. Maven did NOT go all in on eye cups, lol. When they arrived, the right eye cup was cock-eyed and stuck. I had to gently unstick it and it has gotten loose over time. The left eye cup has gotten looser over time as well. So, compared to my Steiner Merlin Pro 10x42, Steiner has far superior eye cups. Seems like such a small inexpensive piece to get right, but Maven dropped the ball. For binoculars that cost almost $1K, having unsat eye cups is a real disappointment. Overall, compared to my Steiner Merlin Pros, the Mavens have slightly superior glass, but with the incredible annoyance of the low-end, cheap eye cups, the Steiners at half the price were a far better way to go.

Did the same test with PMC brass and by 20 reolads half were thrown out and by the end of 40 reloads all but one were thrown out. Currently also working on Rem. brass and after 22 reloads only two thrown out. I use a Lee Collet Neck Die.
