Great video and it is an enjoyable part of the Tararua's. I noticed in the credits there was no mention of thanks to NZ Police for the rescue and I have to agree with that sentiment. They of course have got nothing better to do with their time than rescue MORON'S form the forest! haha

Good job. I don't imagine that it would that easy to ride 1000 miles in New Zealand. We lack those big long flat blacktop highways. I imagine you'd be moving around in the seat a lot, and it would be hard to get those high average MPH that they can do overseas. Respect. (And on ANZAC day. More respect.)

Hey Andy, Manual. Aperture full open. ISO3200. 30 sec exposure. Focus to infinity (or slightly back). That should be a good general start for most cameras. The wider lens the better. Use the "rule of 500" (google what that's all about). I'm very new to this, just bought my camera during the first covid lockdown and gave it a fairly good go during the winter. Which camera are you running? Cheers, Mark

@@markanderson1339 I recently bought a lumix tz220. Thanks for the tips. Are you shooting in raw format so you can post edit?

@@AndyCarruthers62 Yes, I shoot in RAW format. I don't do much post editing at all, but it can be handy if you've made a bit of a mess of a nice photo and you can fix it up somewhat.

Looks cool. How many ks to the hut? Not too loose for a mountain bike? Got any stats on the track?

Is it possible to do one way tramp from otaki forks to Waiotauru hutt then second day to renata hutt and 3 red day down to akhatarawa road

Yes, your planned trip easily would be easily acheivable. Once our tramping buddy was airlifted from Renata Hut, we left there at 4pm and were back to the club transport at Otaki Forks at 10pm. That's only 6hrs tramping, so two days for that section wouldn't be at all strenuous. The distance from Waiotauru Hut, past Maymorn Junction to the Akatarawa Rd summit is 16km. I did that section with my 10yr old daughter last Saturday. Keep an eye out for an upcoming video of that trip, so you can get an idea of what the track is like. We did it on motorbikes. There were 4WDs using the road aswell. The DoC signpost states that Renata Hut is 45mins walk from Maymorn Junction (we did it in 30mins).
