    You mentioned that you weren't sure if the Model 8 was made in 25. It was, though no one knows for sure how many.

    Just purchased another 750 today in 35 Whelen, rare, maybe ! I've had a 742 in 30-06 since 1980, and have taken great care of it, and to date never experienced an FTF or FTE. Really appreciate the in-depth review of this series of rifles. I learned a lot ! Thanks !!!

    Thank you very much for this wealth of information that you give us. I have a Remington 742 and it shoots very well, 1/2 inch at 100 yards (The first 2 out of three bullets in the same hole. I did a test with the foreharm wanting to allow it to have a free space between the barrel and the foreharm. I noticed that the more I tightened the srew of the forharm the less space I wanted. So I decided to tighten the screw no more than 25 lbs to allow the barrel to move in its normal swing when firing. The result was spectacular. I kept with me the target at which I shot this weapon, I didn't believe it to see such a good result. This weapon is not made for rapid fire and must be cooled down after 5 bullets. Fernand

    Excellent video. The trigger was changed from gold to blued steel sometime in the 80s and back to gold when Remington started producing the 336. Remington did manufacture the 336C in 35 Remington right until the end and I am still crossing my fingers that Ruger will introduce the 336C in 35 Remington. I referenced my Williams S Brophy guide on Marlin firearms to confirm the originality of a recently purchased 336 manufactured in 1988. Thank you for making this video.

    I used to have a Remington 700 BDL Left Hand with Cut Checkering, the left hand version was introduced in 1973 with impressed checkering. Mine was a1974 production one in the 670,000 serial number range. A small note is that it had a 7 digit serial number ending in "4", denoting 1974 production.

    Can you honestly say that you never ‘cleared’ that rifle prior to demonstrating for the KZread censors that the gun was empty of live ammunition? I know better and so does 99.9% of your viewership. We’re not stupid and neither are you. Quit pandering to these people. Just because these woke idiot have given up on common sense doesn’t mean the rest of us have. It’s insulting to watch video after video by practically all channels go through this “let’s make sure this gun is clear” bs. If it wasn’t, would you leave it in the video? NO! That’d be edited out. This grand safety display isn’t for your viewership but for the satisfaction of the KZread masters. It’s insulting to the common intelligence of the gun community.

    Lots of more modern bolt guns and calibers but none any better than 98 Mauser or M70 Winchester, both perfect in simplicity.

    Always a pleasure when you post something. A dirty old rifle like this one cries out for a good cleaning, so satisfying to bring one back to shape. It would be nice to see an after picture.

    While I appreciate your video, and your commentary about the operation and parts inspection, I have to give it a 2-1/2 out of 5 stars. This is due to the camera being zoomed out. It is equivalent to trying to read an eye chart from one-hundred yards away. Other than that, it's a good video.

    Yes. The Riot guns were primarily solid frame until 1919-1921' ish when they predominately became takedown models and after 1931 they were all takedown models. Before 1917 they were almost all solid frame.

    These were great guns, When Illinois let us conceal carry I actually considered a BDM because it is so slim until I found out you couldn't get mags. In the early 90s my buddy bought one new & I shot it a lot. I wouldn't have used it like this, but in revolver mode it works exactly like a double action revolver, pull the trigger you get a double action pull, you can thumb cock the hammer for a single action pull if you want. He blew up the barrel after a reloading mistake (Browning wouldn't touch it after they heard he was shooting reloads) & I got it apart & rebuilt it then I bought him a new one for a wedding present.

    I Successfully had the Auto Safety disconnected on a 20ga. BAIKAL side by side. Recently purchased a 311 (410) and Im wondering if I can get the Auto-Safety disconnected on it as well. Is it a fairly straight forward procedure on the 311 ?

  • @BTORange
    @BTORange15 күн бұрын

    Yes. The top snap plunger would need to be shortened so it does not contact the safety button when the top snap lever is rotated to the side. Do not over-shorten the plunger, only remove enough to prevent the plunger from pushing the safety button rearward.

    I'm currently working on a customers Westernfield Model 59 and have to replace the plungers because somebody ground them down for some reason. The problem I have is I can not find anything from Sav/Stev/Spring that matches what I have. It is a very similar design but still vastly different and could use some help in identifying this so I can look for parts and resources.

  • @BTORange

    Should be a pre-WW2 Stevens Model 6. Savage stopped repairing those by the late 1940's and would convert them to the then-current "Speed-Lock" action. Best bet for parts is to find a complete gun as a donor. I guess if someone absolutely HAD to, metal could be added and reshaped but the cost for that would be multiples of the gun's value.

    I never understood references to "Orient" or "Oriental" to be pejorative. Perhaps I need to check my language. I have felt that "Jap" for Japanese is socially improper, but see it popularly used in reference to the ammo for the Arisaka rifle: "7.7 Jap".
