I'm an artist and musician based in London. This channel features some of my own work; clips of others' live sets on my radio show, Fractal Meat on a Spongy Bone; and other bits and bobs.
I've seen this many times and only now do I realise that the prisms are there to form patterns on a light sensor ^^ I really thought he did the distorsions manually :D

one thing i never understood was how does the technics motor even handle that weight

It has pretty decent torque. Does need to be a direct drive motor though, cheaper belt drive DJ turntables won't handle it.
