So expensive. Do salaries in Boston start at 1 million?
I’d say the traffic on 95/128 has to be a con. It’s always bad.
I need a rent In Salem for me as single with a pet. How much is the cost and how is it living in Salem for a single woman?
She only highlighted the towns she knew. Not a single coastal town or town south of Boston.
We absolutely love the snow and cold here in Massachusetts!!! What we love least about the state is the political stronghold the left has on policies and the rest of life here. Too many only read the NYT, only listen to NPR, only watch CNN, yet think they’re wholly informed. Then they’re shocked when strings of their favorite mom and pop shops go out of business, their own property taxes come due, and their be-all-to-end-all EVs won’t take a charge in the winter. It forces those of us more center or (heaven forbid) right of them to lay low in order to coexist. Jeepers, even old-school democrats aren’t safe anymore.
It’s 128. Locals that grew up here call it 128. 😂
warm gray
My son lives in western Massachusetts since 2017 and I learned to realize with time that is a great place to live . Affordable houses compared to other parts of the country like Florida or California. Yes it a quieter type of life but super nice . So I wouldn’t be so negative about Massachusetts. 😊
Stoneham isn't known for good school systems. It's a bit run down actually. The location is great though.
Decent schools, and it’s getting better and better
I first moved to BURLINGTON in 1966 when the BURLINGTON MALL was a empty sand pit and bought a 6 room Cape Cod style house for $ 19,000 and my mortgage was $149 a month. Trying to get anything like that now to fit your weekly salary is Impossible.
Wow, that sounds like an impossible dream. And that was only 58 years ago!
it’s so weird to watch someone tour the town you live in-
What did you think, watching it through someone else’s eyes?
Purposeless. 😂
Live in Belmont, but i also love our next door neighbor. Comparing Belmont and Lexington would be like comparing Beverly Hills to Bel Air. 😂
Can you senior community in MA?
Are you asking if I can make a video about senior communities or just respond here? There are so many, there are 55+ buildings without any assistance from medical professionals, there are assisted living communities in almost every town, which interests you the most?
Winchester, Belmont and Lexington are awesome towns with top- notch school systems!
Very true!
Such a pretty town!! ❤
I’m moving there
Good for you!
I am from the third poorest town in Massachusetts Orange and even there the homes have skyrocketed in value for example my mom's home she bought a 1984 for 64,000 It was worth $65,000 in 2018 now she's selling it and it's appraised for about $275,000! The town is still as poor in crappy as ever if you can get an online job it's a cheap place to live otherwise you go to drive to Worcester to get a good job to talking about an hour drive each way everyday.
Thank you very much for sharing, that’s very interesting info
Your cops
Our cops are great
I live in MA… I think most of it explains Boston and not MA.
You are right, a new video is due with a more comprehensive information
Michael Bloomberg Is Older than Michael Jackson. Mike Bloomberg Listening to MJ.
13 Devereux Terrace Marblehead FOR SALE
Lived in Wakefield in the early 80's, loved all the surrounding towns also. Worked in Woburn, lived in Wakefield, walked around the lake regularly. Had many friends in Stoneham. Now back on the North shore and retired. Miss the old days. Thanks for the presentation.
Thanks for watching!
People making these schemes seem to have zero clue about economics. The only way to solve housing affordability in the long term is to have more supply. PERIOD. And the only way to have more supply is for the state to get a handle on local zoning restrictions, allowing denser builds. We seem to have forgotten in this country how free market economics work.
Actually, that’s what they are trying to do. MA is enforcing new laws for each area that is close to train stations- commuter rail and subway. There are plans in place in many towns to build new townhouses and condominium buildings. The towns close to Boston are going to get much denser.
@@BostonAreaHomes I think you mean the MBTA communities law, which is a step in the right direction. Obviously, the state has interest in maximizing the impact of public transport projects. But, I'm arguing that this is trying to micromanage the issue, by finding spots where the state encourages denser housing. By why even allow restrictions on multi story housing anywhere? Developers' self interest will only locate them in areas where the infrastructure allows. They aren't going to spend millions building them in the middle of nowhere. Other than industrial zones, what's the benefit of residential/commercial zoning? Who gets harmed if a multi level building goes up in a neighborhood of single family houses, or if a store opens up in such neighborhood?
One thing that the US always had was lots of land, so they built communities accordingly. Now that there is more population, they will adjust. In Europe land was always scarce so they built differently. It’s a natural process of growth, and growth always comes with pain. Opposition doesn’t want more traffic, lots of construction under their noses and they feel that they will loose their right to quiet enjoyment. The planning is badly done sometimes, creating bottlenecks and making local residents mad. In Belmont, they artificially narrowed Trapelo rd, and now the rush hour traffic sits at the intersection for hours polluting the local residents’ air. So, just erecting big buildings here and there without planning well is only going to hurt communities. I hope they do it right, though, I really hope. Thanks for your comments.
Quincy is not part of Boston, it is an entirely separate city.
Agree, yes
nice videos.
Thank you!
I grew up in Belmont, was suprised to hear it was 8th for rank in schools theres a Belmont hill school as well, and as far as I know Newton North was always ranked 1 but you have it here as 37th . Wow those house prices are crazy high 2.9 mil for a house in Cambridge and 1.6 in Belmont ouch. As far as the weather the weather its perfect for 6 months and cold for 6 lol , its not all rainy or all hot and humid, nothing like Florida heat yes some rain, more than usuall these days lol . Overall if you like busy and can affrod the prices go closer to Boston and if you like less busy and cheaper go an hour away or more from the city
If your going to move there, move to the Boston area. Most cities in Central and Western MA are slums and washed-up mill towns.
It’s bad enough to be born there, no one should ever move there on purpose !
People are not that friendly. All stuck in their own world. To be honest. You will get sparks of kindness but it is few and far between.
She missed the south and the south shore. She missed all the coastal areas.
What’s bad about the coastal areas?
Thank you for your information 🎉
For me being a low-income Senior I can ride MUNI for free. BART not so much. I don't know if there's a free-for-Seniors thing on the T.
I live there, has become way too liberal! And their intolerant of others.
It's like comparing Beverly Hills and Bel Aire. I couldn't afford to get gas in either of those towns.
🤣😂🤣😂
I grew up in Connecticut and spent every summer going to Cape Cod. It was a fantastic place to be from. But I spent my entire adult life in Dallas, Texas and I’ll retire to the hills, trees, lakes, and golf courses in Arkansas. I won’t move back to New England.
So much for the south and south shore
Salem is a beautiful historic town and that Peabody Museum is really special.
Yes, I went there to see the exhibition on historic Ethiopia, fascinating! Salem is stunning, love the Chestnut st
Generally a cold city, but bundle up appropriately and you'll live!
"First thing, no one moves here because the weather"..... Me " unless you are from Florida!"
Interesting and informative video! ❤
Thank you, Alina!

Sell your house fast in MA and RI
Lmao...just came to the comments to see my fellow massholes set the narrative straight. The majority of the comments are facts. 2024 is even worse.
It must stop ! Punishing people for being successful with extra taxes. It will hurt everyone in the community and business world
I love norwood i live here for a lot of years
Very nice town, you are lucky!
What do you think? We are desperately in need of affordable housing and since the government is not going to save all the communities in U.S., another option that is becoming very popular is an additional tax when buying or selling expensive homes. But is $1M considered an expensive home now? It's definitely not a Mansion by the Boston standards in 2024, it's just a middle class home. Would it create an additional burden on middle class families? I like the progressive kind, so the more expensive the property, the higher the percentage that you have to pay in the Mansion tax. I am really curious what your opinion is about this.
The New England Patriots answered that question.
👍
move to Beverly, more quiet and right next to Salem
Good idea!
Okay geez. Pittsburgh? Really
