WhoJoeDaddy! Thank you. I had given up on the left side BDA replacement, and went to a very reputable shop who quoted me 6 hours labor plus parts for the job. Last I knew that’s $100. X 6 + $80 + ? $680 plus tax plus the unknown. That number motivated me to try harder. I found your video, which gave me the simple detail that somehow before I had missed: RECALIBRATION My cost 2 MOCA BDA eBay $22 Craftsman Tools $40 I’m 75 and have been launching into “unknown repair territory” all my life. BUT…. Your videos and the ones others make create a sense of “I can do this” as we put on work clothes and head for the unknown territory job at hand. I PRAISE AND THANK GOD FOR YOU AND I THANK - YOU Ed

THANK YOU. CALIBRATION WAS MY DOWNFALL BEFORE! 12 months ago I changed the passenger side BDA. TWICE. FAILED TWICE. I failed twice! How could that be??? I followed everyone’s advice. Having given up temporarily trying to figure it out, we drove through the winter clicking with heat on just one side. Spring arrived and the driver’s side joined the chorus. Now we have two abominable clickers. It’s when I came to your video that I first heard -Disconnect the battery and turn the key to on for 5 minutes to drain power in the system. THEN GO TO WORK. AND When installation is complete STOP - CALIBRATE FIRST. Connect the battery turn the key to on and let it calibrate for 5 minutes, then turn the key off. NOW AND ONLY NOW IS IT OKAY TO START THE ENGINE. Yes the left side is a bear to do! BUT after calibration the sweetest sound after a full year is SILENCE and all is operational! CALIBRATION!!!!! Thank you WhoJoeDaddy

What's the actuator that does a slower bumping noise? Whatever it is, it was doing this for about 2, 3 years and has now, suddenly gotten obnoxiously loud, like someone knocking on the wall, inside the passenger side dash. 2010 Impala.
@WhojoedaddyDIYАй бұрын
Sounds like the passenger side actuator. Good news is it’s the easiest to replace. Drop your glove box and find the actuator, touch it with a screw driver. If it’s the one going bad you will feel the knocking vibration through the screw driver. Super easy and inexpensive to fix yourself. Good luck!

I just fixed a no blow HVAC on a Chevy Express. Spent days replacing a blower, then The blower resister, then the vacuum supply line, still no air. Then an old coworker who used to be a Chevy mechanic tells me it’s the ground wire to the fan speed dial. Pull the dash apart, yank the HVAC controls, and there’s a toasted ground wire. Splice a new one and it works. Days of work was just a fried little wire. Lesson learned? Just ask the Chevy tech to begin with.
