    I am trying to understand how this work, but How is possible that the thread coming from the needle (the yellow one) could go fully around the bobbin from both front and behind? maybe it's me, but looks like the bobbin and the hook are floating in the air...could you please explain where I am wrong?

    I can understand it if the drum like structure that holds the lower thread is floating in air. How does the upper thread go around the supporter that holds the drum like structure?

    The drum like bobbin case is only held on one side so the upper thread that goes past it does so on the side away from the mounting.

    Looking again at the animation it does indeed look like the bobbin case is in total suspension ! Something not quite right with the animation methinks!

    How does the thread go on both sides of the bobbin when there is a solid shaft going through the bobbin to the rest of the machine?

    I think that the piece that has the blue thread is a cylinder that is floating freely encased in an exterior encasement which has this gap where the white thread enters and it's made to go around the floating cylinder insude it and thus hooks the blue thread. The external encasement does not rotate 360°, once the white thread moved around the interior free floating cylinder and hooked the blue thread, the exterior encasement rotates back. I hope I explained well as this is the first time I think I got it. There are other videos that mention the free floating cylinder and show the external encasement

    if the thread goes either side of the bobbin what supports the bobbin

  • @JebbAdams
    @JebbAdams3 жыл бұрын

    The positioning pin supports the bobbin case and prevents the bobbin case from moving or turning while the hook spins around it & beneath it. The hook race somewhat supports the bobbin case as the hook race spins. In addition, the bottom of the bobbin case is built to withstand any contact with the horizontal base of the hook as it spins. The bobbin case positioning bracket also limits movement of the bobbin case due to it's location. Another job of the bobbin case positioning bracket is to 'catch' the thread as it flies off the hook. One other salient point about the hook; the opening at the top of the hook shaft is an oil port. It requires regular oiling. All the best!
