    Nice video-a good topic, and I like your counting system. I’ve had people pull over and offer me a cold drink or a ride. One woman asked why all these people with backpacks had been walking down the roadway in her area. In addition to rest stops, the other issue I plan for when road walking is dogs. Poles are helpful, but after I was attacked by a pair, I started carrying a small canister of spray.

    Yes I considered including the dog tip but I did a video on that in the past. There was actually a gang of chihuahuas on this hike but they turned out to be fun. Happy Trails!!!

    Thanks for posting a video of the area - looks like a fun trip! How many miles is it in total to hike to the camping area and back out? Any bear sightings?

  • @grunclemike9824
    @grunclemike9824Ай бұрын

    We only hiked about 5 miles back to the cars. There is also an 8+ mile option. For the night hike from camp it was about 4 miles out and back. Camp was only .2 from where we parked. We have never seen bears in Jennings but have seen scat. They are much more common about 10 miles south of toward Goldhead. Happy Trails!!!

    Good idea traveling with some grub, the smokies is lacking in places to eat. Blue Ridge Parkway is mostly the same way, limited in places to eat, its also a national park. Have you 2 driven the BRP?

    I had a 3 day trip planned but bailed on after day 1. Gary Gant is a great shuttle driver in the area that can be reached through Facebook. FYI Holton Creek camp is wiped out from a hurricane. You can stay there but no facilities or water. Happy Trails!!!

    @@grunclemike9824 oh wow okay thanks for the heads up, did you get picked up at the river camp or did you have to hike back to a different place to get off trail? Finding mileage for this trail is very difficult for some reason. I was trying to find how many miles it is from graffiti bridge to woods ferry river camp too but I can’t find that

  • @grunclemike9824

    You can find mileage on the FarOut app but you have to buy the Florida Trail. You can find free mileage maps etc on the Florida Trail Association website. There is also an awesome guide to the entire trail available @floridahikes . Happy Trails!!!
