  This song is a reminder of what oral tradition represents in the history, tradition and folklore of Africa. It proves that contrary to the misrepresentation of the true states of preservation of historical traditions in Africa as one that had no history due to destruction of preserved written historical records. The chronicling of the past rulers of Gombe Emirate is a proof that Africa has and knows its history even if written records were unavailable. In fact, as a proof to the keeping of records, the life and times of one of the past Mais of the Kanem-Borno empire was recorded in Arabic manuscripts (History of the First Twelve Years of the Reign of Mai Idros Alooma of Bornu 1572-1583) by Ahmad ibn Fartua and translated into English by HR Palmer. Kudos to the Singer for the research that went into it's production, the producer and support staff for this preservation of events for entertainment and most importantly for history. You would never be able to appreciate what you have done for generations yet unborn. In several years to come they will hopefully look back and thank you all for your efforts and foresightedness.
