this is a great video. I'm still new to linux (few days) and when i create a raid array using mdadm. It works fine until the system is restarted/shut down, then everything that was part of the array, including mdadm.conf. I don't know what to do about it lol

Any recommendation for me? Having an IBM Server with LSI MegaRaid aka IBM ServeRaid with RAID5 (3 of 4x Disks present) for VMware ESXi (contains ESxi Host-OS and VMFS). Actually while there was an power outage one of the disks was dropped and obviously had errors before. The disks are not shown as degraded array, but 3x Foreign/Unconfigured disks in LSI RAID. I think about using R-Studio or DiskInternals to reconstruct read-only array to backup everything just in case LSI-Controller rebuild will fail or even cause data-loss. Any software recommendation for this?

@@HetmanRecovery I've created a disk-image using DiskInternals now as I was able to do RAID5 recovery using that tool. At least obviously as partitions are shown including that one with VMFS (VMware Datastore Partition). I didn't want to fiddle too much as I don't know if the left 3 (out of 4 RAID5 disks) are in good conditions as one drive's already crashed. Is Hetman able to import disk image (I think DiskInternals creates raw image). What makes more sense now is it possible to use the Disk-Image containing recovered RAID5 from DiskInternals or use Hetman directly with the physical disks/RAID5 that would have to be recovered using Hetman then again?

Thank you for the recommendation of using a file-recovery tool for lost or broken snapshots! If your comp crashes while making a snapshot (or can't finish the save because of an empty BIOS battery, like in my case), it corrupts the snapshot and makes the VM unlaunchable. So I hope your suggestion here will restore my corrupted snapshot.

I tried to restore data disk of windows virtaul macine (VM Ware) as my host colapsed. With help of Partition recovery I made full scan of hardware disk. I can see files of this windows virtual machine, although no prewiev is possible - wonder why. When trying to recover data (clips and pictures) recovered data are corupted.
