  Noooo, not even close im afraid.! Its most def not a bacterial infections. Its in fact a viral infections known as adeno virus. Can also be in a more virulant form known as circo virus and another called roto virus. Theres no direct cure for it but for in Aus and the USA they have a vaccine that is effective in preventing the birds contracting it. Elsewhere all you can do is wait it out while doing your best to prevent other secondry infections and provide electrolites and probotics to the birds. Many birds succumb to this desease and it should run for 10 days or so till it runs out. In the process some birds may get liver and kidney damage before the virus runs out.

  Wrong question. Should be can a bird with a lot of internal fat deposits fly well? A bird that is fat may not neccesarily be overweight and could fly home at a tremendous spead.😅

  @@racingpigeons-tips Depends on your definition of fat and the distance to be flown concerned. Theres a huge diffs and you cannot generalize at random. A bird can also be over weight without being fat.

  😅Totally not important whatsoever.! You should have birds out of families of winning birds on both sides.! If they have good race results themselves that would be even better. Further if they have pedigrees confirming their champion bloodlines would be such a bonus.! Also just know that there are no good purebred pedigreed racing pigeons out there anymore.! They are all crosses from varieres different champion racing pigeons. All that is required is to breed of the best birds you can get your hands on.
