If you can't have fun in a kart there is something wrong with you. I love my 81 KT 100. 14,000 rpm and 16 h.p on the race pipe at 83 mph. I still have it after all these years.

What did you use for an axle??

Extremely pretty setup. Never liked Margays (although they were very successful) Was a Bug Stinger fan. Early 70's when I raced karts (American Reed Light with Mac 91B's) the B-Bombs I remember being 22hp running alky. Awesome power, instant response, extremely quick and quite reliable. Oh yes and ridiculously loud! In a twin setup the problem was excessive wheelspin even with oil bath clutches. Only for the brave.

@KrustyKlown Жыл бұрын
Requires special equipment .. it's far easier to accurately bore / hone a detachable cylinder head block.

Power Product, like the others won races. The Karts raced in classes and were more or less evenly matched so the best driver won most of the time

Those old karts with narrow, hard tires sure did not handle very good, also the chassis on modern karts are much better handling. Karting has come a long way since then. I heard no one used tuned pipes because they did not know about them or didn't understand them. My first kart was a Fox kart made in Wisconsin with a Mc49 engine that I raced in mid 70"s. I then moved up to a new Margay kart with a Mc 101, next Yamaha engine and finally a 135-cc Parilla engine. The last three with tuned pipes. Had the best time kart racing, won a lot of races at a track in Brodhead, Wisconsin. Fun times I will never forget!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also raced enduro karts at Blackhawk Farms raceway, Il, Road America, Wi, Mid-Ohio raceway, Ohio.

All those karts are still being raced at VKA racing events, like the one here, and many historic tracks... they race at Brodhead WI once a year too. Get back into it, I did. I own a Fox Kart, Margay, Rupps, Invader.. and more, a ton of fun. Vintage racing is more about having fun with karting friends, than about racing.

My father and I ran a stock Power Products engine in 1961 and it couldn't match a McCulloch... not even close. We switched to a Mc-5 and suddenly became competitive. Mc Cullochs were the winning engine in 1961-62 when I raced in Southern California.
