@@rjonsen yea.. Visibility was low, they couldn’t see much of anything. Then they heard the sickening sounds of the cargo holds imploding, one after the other. Before they realized what was happening, the entire superstructure was sucked into the ocean, and all 42 souls (including the wives of the crew) were gone in an instant. Not a second to spare .

It is dust being ejected as air whooshes out and water rushes in. The brown stuff is iron ore. The force of air being pushed out carries some particles or iron ore with it.
