I'm not really sure what you are complaining about? You ordered a Dvorak keyboard and that's what you got. Surely the point is that when you press a key then whatever that key happens to be is what you get on the screen. The signal from the keyboard has to be interpreted as QWERTY, think about it. I stuck with Dvorak for a couple of months, but went back to QWERTY simply because it's everywhere. A keyboard like this would have been great had I decided to stay with it. I honestly don't understand your problem with it. Sorry if I'm misunderstanding you.

Perhaps it's just my philosophy about the way computers should work, but I believe the signals given by peripherals should be arbitrary until they are interpreted by the computer. The peripherals, in other words, should be subservient to the computer, not the other way around. I was expecting to get the same keyboard as everyone else, except for simply different symbols to be printed on the keys. When the computer has to be tricked into thinking a keyboard is Qwerty when the keycaps say it's Dvorak, it feels to me like putting the cart before the horse. It'd be a bit like buying a left handed mouse where primary and secondary buttons are wired the opposite way around, rather than simply selecting "left handed" in your settings. Another way to think of it is just imagining every key or button on a peripheral is numbered (1, 2, 3, 4 etc), and depending on what preference you set in your settings, the computer knows that button 1 should return a specific character, button 2 another character and so on. To me it feels like the numbers have just been jumbled up - it would make more sense to simply tell the computer to interpret say button 42 as a "P" instead of an "R". Button 42 would still be the 5th button on the 3rd row, it would just mean something different to the computer. But I suppose it's just my way of thinking about these things. My reaction was probably a bit over the top, but my OCD at the time I think got the better of me :P

Bjorn Worpel Fair enough, I get what you're saying now. It wouldn't be an issue for me. I don't think it's a right or wrong thing, just a matter of opinion.
