  Great video! Thanks for sharing, our history got deleted, erased, books burnt, libraries demolished, it is videos like this that brings back the past and current struggles of our people!   This documentary should be aired in all tv channels in PR, it should be presented in our schools! Maybe, it will install a new sense of patriotism to all the politicians ruining our beloved island; maybe it will change the mind of all our youth lost in delinquency. Maybe it will show them that there were people old and young that once defend our island with study, work, dignity and morals, yet they defended themselves and ideals when the call represented no other choice than violence and just for the pure and solely reason to defend their piece of land and not for mere drugs businnesses and earning easy no sweat daily bread.

  History will always remember Albisos Cambos as the real father of Puerto Rico and I love his love for Puerto Rican. I was born in NYC but I have always defended any Puerto Rican that was in any trouble around me. That is what my mother and father thought me to do since I was a child. I school I was the one who would kick the bullies butt in school. GOD made me good in fighting. I have never lost a fight in my life. I can remember my co-worker ask me, Marrero why you love Puerto Rico so much. I would say, because I do. Puerto Rican will always defend Puerto Rican, even if you don't know them. That's what I was always told. But I was like my father and never got into politics.

  There's no mention of the massacea in Ponce, the bombing in ayuya and Utuado. The gag law that restricted the Puerto Rican flag, the restriction of speaking Spanish. All this were events that fired the Nationalist movement.

  I remember growing up in the 50s and my grandmother telling about this struggle to get out of this collective poverty in our country until Don Luis Munoz Marin intervined with his vision. By watching this documentary I see what she meant, and I understood now that Munoz Marin wanted to lift the people first out of the deep misery, feed them, give them education and housing and strenghten them as the initial stage of the next level of the struggle for independence. In his good faith he didnt see coming the addiction to the american inclination for consumism and materialism, in other words we began to inherit the american pragmatism and materialism and that was what the artists in the country during that generation, such as Rafael Tufino and Rene Marquez began to express in their work..In a way the artists were not fully grateful for the sudden new economy that came with Luis Munoz Marin, but they saw the down side of that economy by calling out the corruption that came along the new "north american" concept of consumism..

  I was born in Puerto Rico: raised in Florida: i went to Puerto Rico from every time my parents could send me. To me Puerto Rico should be a state so they can pay federal taxes and be more represented in Congress. If Puerto Rico would be a free standing country it would be like Cuba: under communist socialist idealogy. Lets put it this way one hands washes the other. What Cuba obtain was starvation: Puerto Rico found life as a common wealth benefits.

  Wow! Yo no había nacido cuando eso.Nací en P.R. en Santurce. Creci, estudié, me casé, perdí tres hijas y cuando mi hijo menor se enfermó de polio, Una enfermedad que se supone estaba erradicada o sea ya no existía En P.R. luego perdí mis tres hijas acá en Estados Unidos y no pudieron ayudar a mi bebé en P.R. porque no había, en los hospitales, ningún doctor que pudiera ayudarnos. Mi esposo y yo Decidimos emigrar a Nueva York, en Estados Unidos, allí lo atendieron en centro médico pero no pudieron hacer nada. Ellos no sabían que hacer. La fiebre que tenía era tan fuerte que su pierna izquierda perdió músculo y su pierna se deformó. Decidímos irnos a Estados Unidos a Nueva York. Mi esposo se quedó trabajando y yo sola con los niños encontramos una amiga que nos habló del hospital Shriners. Sin pensarlo, me fui con mis niños y mi esposo se quedó trabajando y unos meses después luego se unió a nosotros. Un doctor me habló del hospital Shriners en Massachusetts y allí atendieron a mi bebé. Luego mi esposo se unió a nosotros. En Massachusetts. encontramos trabajo y tratamiento para mí niño. Unos años después mi esposo murió por el alcoholismo. Todavía sigo en Massachusetts. Ya soy abuela de ocho nietos. Mi hija mayor murió de cáncer y ya vivo sola esperando que llegue el levantamiento de la Iglesia de Cristo para vivir por toda la eternidad con mi Jesús. Bendiciones🕊️
