Huma on Child & Adolescent Mental Health

Huma on Child & Adolescent Mental Health

I am a proud autism mom and an art psychotherapist. This channel is my way of reaching out to all of you, looking for ways to help children achieve emotional well-being by understanding the root of behaviours and how to address the underlying issues. In this regard, I will share my knowledge and experience, professional and personal, of more than 20 years through 'Tips on Child and Adolescent Mental Health'.
Through 'Mo and Me', I will share my journey with Mo, who is my eldest son and is autistic. I hope that my experience of more than 25 years raising Mo will benefit those of you who live and or work with individuals with ASD.

I have been a part of your journey and I always have admired you and Osman for being so open about Moeez. I think as parents seeing your child in distress is the biggest test. But you were so graceful about it, I remember when he had his meltdowns you were never embarrassed. I remember it happening by the pool and people were glaring and in a way being judgmental. Your focus was always about finding ways to calm him down, or allow him to vent it out. You truly are inspirational and have always admired you for this.

Absolutely right. In such behaviours i think our fast food is also playing a big role. Its neither very healthy for our children's physical health nor for their mental health.

HI Deep, I don't know where you are based and what type of therapies you have access to, but children who have autism do require intensive therapy, especially when they are very young. I strongly urge you to read as much as you can about ASD and the different interventions that are available. All the best.

Hi Huma, i'm a speech therapist from Chile. I have a question about the "relational" part in this therapy. it's "relational" cause use the Relational Frame Theory for work? like ACT or those therapies that combine RFT and ABA? Thank you so much!
