In this enchanting piece by Minnesota composer Libby Larsen, I was struck by the uniqueness of the piano part. I especially appreciate how there are no spare notes; they all count! It is a real dialogue with the voice. Fine writing! Consider listening more than once. The tune revealed much more with additional hearings for me.

Amazing performance from everybody, I'm so glad I learned recently of the great composer Howard Swanson. Beautiful and deep interpretation of this song, set to the Langston Hughes poem by the same name. True artistry, and true representation, I'm sure Hughes and Swanson are smiling somewhere!
